So I got this Lithops like 2 months ago. It was split and has since lost its original mother leaves, so this one in the picture is the baby. Should it be planted lower into the soil than it is? Also, don’t be deceived by the soil, the lava rock is only on top. The soil is 50/50 cactus mix and perlite. How long does it take these to split?

I would pot them deeper like so. Be careful if potting it deeper because lithops are prone to breaking from the tap root if pushed in instead of being repotted or topped off with substrate.
