In this video, I explain the real reason why tomato plants get disease and pests and how to stop it! Most gardeners believe the best way to prevent tomato diseases and prevent insects on a tomato plant is to spray them with fungicides and pesticides, but if you’re spraying tomato plants, you’ve already lost the war. Don’t believe the big tomato lie! Do this instead!

  2. I guess I missed it somewhere – but where is the link to to the fabric and framing you used? Very informative video. I had never seen anyone address some of those issues like you did. Thanks!

  3. This is interesting, I am in Kentucky and it gets extremely hot and humid and my tomatoes thrive and produce until October when we get frost.

  4. I have a question, i live in the Northeast hill towns of western Massachusetts at an elevation of about 1100’ ASL. My garden is already planted and i have a couple of raised beds. I have a few different varieties of vegetables planted in each raised bed so it would be difficult to shade the tomatoes without shading some other plants like lettuce, peppers etc. can i shade each plant individually or does it matter?

  5. i had a tomato in a pot indoors for >2 years…I decided to bring it home and plant it, I set it in the shade for 2 weeks or so then transplanted it, looks good so far – can't wait to see how it does and if it produces fruit, I'm sure it will…then I plan to put it into a huge pot and bring indoors and see if I can keep it going….

  6. Man, these are the BEST gardening videos on YouTube! My tomato harvest last year was phenomenal thanks to you! The regular fertilization and electric toothbrush pollination works wonders! I wish you a million more subscribers! You deserve it (and so do they!). God Bless

  7. Zero heat stress here in Montana as I'm sure you can imagine. Surprisingly, tomatoes are one of the easiest crops to grow here. The summer is dry, sunny, and not "too" hot. We don't have enough time in the season to grow more than one crop though so obviously that requires some adaptation.

  8. I'm in Florida, and my potted pepper and tomato plants already take a long time to dry out between watering. I barely water once/week! What does mulch do for me besides trap moisture? I worry it will be too moist and will invite fungus and mold.

  9. I'm from Queensland 🌴🌞 Australia and will do the shade cloth thing! One question, I was using netting which got wet in the rain. I didn't remove it for a day. Now the plant has just begun to have leaf spot and black tips on the leaves where the wet netting was.
Should I just cut that part of the plant off?
    Thanks. 😊

  10. Not sure what that is hanging from your shirt, but that is distracting and look weird and freaky.

  11. I moved to VA 9 yrs ago from NJ…In Jersey my garden was small and crammed together, but, I had the best tomatoes and other vegetable flourished as well without much effort, here in VA I have yet to have a good, healthy harvest of anything, this year especially is really depressing. May be a bit late for this season but I will try the shade clothe next season for sure…the garden area is definitely full sun for a good part of the day…ugghh who knew.

  12. When you start using the shade cloth when the weather gets hot, do you leave it on all day and not remove it? Thanks.

  13. I am also east Coast North Carolina. Can you help me understand what makes the skin on tomatoes crack?

  14. This may sound odd, but it's something my wife and I have noticed recently that has become beyond coincidence. We have roughly 40 tomato plants most doing great, a few not as great but it has become glaringly obvious that the leftover dead flower that sticks with many of the fruits as they grow seems to be the pinpoint source where issues begin such as black spots, holes to various degrees, creases developing, and catfacing among other issues as well. I cant find a peep about this possibility anywhere online, and I am convinced that it is not a coincidence. We are in upstate NY the climate has actually been quite good all season not counting the past 3 days of rain and humidity but this phenomenon has been happening well before now. Please tell me this a thing 🤷🏻‍♂️. We just spent an hour plus going around wiping off the little blossom remains off every fruit that hadnt shed it by itself. The evidence is there, at least in our experience this summer.
