Only really started gardening this year. Bought 2 hydrangeas around April? One died almost immediately but I’ve managed to keep this one going. Since we came back from a weeks holiday in July it seems to be on the way out? Any ideas or tips appreciated

Lovely. Underrated plant in my opinion. Color in late summer for months. Not difficult to grow. Lots of varieties.
Water, water, water. They’re notorious for drooping and looking dreadful if they dry out..
Soak that one and it’ll probably bounce back.
They like plenty of water and most like partial shade. You might need a bigger pot as that one looks on the small side? They’ll be slower to dry out in a bigger pot as well.
I find that plants in pots require a lot of work (frequent watering, regular feeding, repotting every couple of years or so) to keep looking good. And it’s too much like hard work for me, so all my plants are in the ground with only four in pots.
Best of luck with your hydrangeas. They’re lovely plants.
I had cut a few flowers for a vase on my table and they rooted in the water, I planted them in pots and now I have 3 new small ones this summer. Who knew!
Lots of water, acidic soil. If you’re using regular compost, that might not be acidic enough for them. Easily remedied by mixing in your coffee grounds.
