I learned this tip a year or so ago and thought I’d pass it along after trying it out. We get tons of lady bugs on our dill plants that then fly to our citrus trees and do a great job cleaning up the pests. Dill can be finicky, but stick with it and you will have your own little garden soldiers.

What is a name of an old fashioned variety?
I need to get more dill.
I planted the same ones shown in this video but so many have been destroyed by spider mites! They especially seem to love the shape of the leaves which I guess is good for making the little webs. One plant was literally covered. I didn’t know at the time when I noticed my green pole bean plants yellowing that it was spider mites till a couple weeks in, and by that time they were just on every garden area around my whole yard. Even after spraying with neem oil AND seven spray, I’m still dealing with dying leaves from various plants. It’s crazy!
No! No! No! Dont do it! Them fuckers live in ur walls and u will be infested every season. Which honestly isn’t that terrible. Its for about a month and all they do is huddle in corners of the ceiling
Oh they love a few herbs in the garden I have so many in my garden. Also if you mix your crops and plant things that root at different levels together you’ll get loads because the more abundant your garden and the less soil showing the more beneficial bugs
What is this, plants vs zombies IRL? I'm in.
– So what type of marigolds do you need !? 🤔 Also, thanks for sharing my friend!
Lol in poland we add this to pickles
I love ladybugs they're so cool😊
LOL…Marigolds to prevent white flies? My marigolds are covered with them…..
Anyone else think it had long legs in a circle shape because of the first 3 seconds in the video?… Please don't just be me 😂
I planted tills for my swallowtail! Good to know.
Just dont accidentally squash the Ladybugs. They will release a very awful smell if you do
I haven't seen a red ladybug in years 🥺
Bet
I love dill I cook with it so much
Where can you get seeds for the old fashioned marigolds?
Fun fact: there are people in this world that have a serious phobia of ladybugs similar to arachnophobia…. I am one of those people
Thank you, for taking the time to clarify that "Old fashioned Marigolds" or "Heritage Marigolds" are good things to look for when selecting varieties, on so many comments.
Amazing!!
Cant wait to get a few pots of dill started! Ladybugs are my “thing” with my mom, we have matching ladybug tattoos and everything
The garden at my school that we built and take care of is "infested" by lady bugs as in theres so many our plants grow massive and they land on us constantly while gardening. We called it aphid garden btw
noted when i get my garden sorted ill go get that plant
Ladybugs were my favorite bug as a little kid. I adored them and loved learning so many facts about them! I didn't realize how under appreciated they were because I told everyone I could all about how awesome they were and how they defended my mom's roses from "bad bugs" 😂
My ladybugs love my milkweeds too!!
The larva stage are even more voracious than the adults.
I love ladybugs!!!
Homegrown dill is a staple in my deer jerky recipes
Ladybugs means luck
