  1. Please… Just say No to > I'M FIRST. A few people have made the comment lately: "Am I First?" { which is not really a comment, at all…. 🗣 💬 }
We want to read good comments, 'about the Video.' (Jess too?) > Not, about who made the First comment. > It is Not a competition and it just doesn't matter, if YOU are First.
The wonderful subscribers on this channel, Hopefully, will Not be starting / or / Responding to > this 'Silly Game' of 'wanting' to be 1st. > Why, is that a 'thing' ? IDK.
    > Some subscribers on other channels, have started this > "I'M FIRST" > It Ruins the comments and content by doing this. (But…that is just 'my opinion')

  2. I feel this! I went a whole year without filming because life got heavy, and I found myself in a slump. The longer I went without filming the more impossible it seemed. When I get in a slump I think of Suess, "When you're in a Slump, you're not in for much fun. Un-slumping yourself is not easily done." Fortunately for us, you can do hard things.

  3. Everyone needs a poop garden!! ❤

This year has been ROUGH, and all my gardening plans have completely flopped. But, I pivoted, and I am making the best of what IS in this season. I'm growing food in new places, and my fall garden prep has started, and I'm hopeful it will be my most fruitful yet!

  4. I am going to adopt that saying. This time of the year I find a lot of stuff “dragging”. A couple of days ago I went to pick my garden. The grass and weeds have taken over, the bugs are terrible… they are eating my tomatoes faster than I can pick them. I have more okra than we can eat in 2 years, it’s hot and humid (8a NC). I am exhausted and for the first time admitted I am overwhelmed. I turned my chickens out into my garden. Alright girls get it cleaned up, fall planting is right around the corner.

  5. Couldn't tell for sure, but your nest could be guinea. Mine have nests in the weirdest places. 🤦‍♀️

  6. I'm crying you literally don't know how much I needed this today. Life has been so so heavy. So today the overwhelm was so heavy.

  7. I have the same smell issue with goat cheese! It goes up the back into my sinuses like too much wasabi. I have never licked a goat hoof, but I think that description is probably accurate

  8. This area should probably be your pumpkin patch. My volunteer vines are flowering now. I can tell that I have a watermelon, and some squash and pumpkin vines that volunteered in my compost pile this spring. I planted them in my garden bed and they are doing better than the other vegetables I planted. I am with you on the stinky goat cheese thing. You make me laugh so hard. I am glad you are doing a bit better. I will keep praying for you. I am excited about your wide ewes. I love lambs. Enjoy your kids, they grow up fast. I bless you. Until next time.

  9. Thank you! I too, want to just quit when the weeds just take over and it's really hot in iowa. Will be making changes this fall to by adding two more raised beds and growing everything in my 8 beds. I can then cut way back on the weeding. Getting old is not fun

  10. Thanks for checking in and sharing that thing that happens in the dog days of July…. Isn’t this what we dreamed of in the winter? How then do we allow the beloved warmth to drag out low ends down??
And that rooster… stinkin side-eye tells me “mean rooster stew” is coming up on the menu!

  11. It's funny to me the difference in perspective. I've had sheep lamb in -30 degrees Fahrenheit and don't sweat it, we know how to manage that! When temps got into 90 degrees Fahrenheit I have been so worried about my animals in this extreme heat! 😆

  12. Please tell me. Do those pumpkins get attacked by squash bugs? I’m sick of these squash bugs but still refuse to give up on squash lol. Thanks in advance anyone. Love u Jess!

  13. I'm curious, do you have a cat begging for a bit of milk while you are milking? Just curious, I remember that from my youth. If this were before my major illness hit (20 years ago), I would have had a huge garden and a better kitchen so I could have food when I want it. As someone over 70 who has a lifelong illness, I miss my days in the yard growing flowers and food. You and others I watch give me hope that America is not all lost. Thanks for the uplift, Jess. Stay safe. Virginia in TN

  14. I’ve been going through something . I feel like I’m dragging myself can’t do much right at so much I’m doing . I’m very flusters . Spitting it out sound like a great plan to me . And just keep trying little at a time hopefully better. Trying to get help on things around here is a chore and disappointment . I see eyes rolling at me or being ignored. And it’s not my kids They are grown and on their own now I have my granddaughter here and my son want me to make her do chores with me . And make me a hardarss I can’t she’s 9 and her parents need to do that not me I don’t want to be a mean granny . GODBLESS YOU . Thank you

  15. JESS I finally started my YouTube channel!! I met you in October at the Farm Where You Live event last year. I have been watching you since 2018, and I've been saying for years. That I was going to start one. I finally got up enough courage to do it!! 😂❤ Love y'all and your videos as always little darling!!!

  16. Human intervention can compliment or contaminate nature. Which part of history will you stand on? Which purpose will you honor?

  17. I literally laughed out loud at "sometimes you bite off more than you can chew. You don't have to choke on it….spit it out!" LOL!!!!! I can totally relate to overwhelm, especially when it comes to weeds in the garden. That is what is I've been choking on lately, but I'm spitting it out.

  18. I bring my buck into the the girls pen in October, and he stays there until kidding time in March. It makes winter chores easier for me. I have never noticed an off flavor in our milk.

  19. dumb question since I don't have milk animals. Could you dry off/breed 2 of your girls and keep milking the third? Next year you let her breed and another one rest. That cycle would always get you milk for your coffee. When the two are in milk you will get the excess to make cheese etc. Will it hurt the one goat to be milked for a long time?

  20. Your friends & family no doubt appreciate the overage your garden produces ❤ my ultimate goal is to be able to share ❤
