Barn Find Classic Toyota Twin Cam Coupe 70s Survivor! Will it run? In this special barnfind episode Jonny Smith heads to Norfolk to meet the nephew of the late owner of this incredible survivor Toyota Celica liftback twin cam 2000 GT. Such a car in the UK is now so scarce that they can be counted on two hands, largely down to its appetite to rust.

  1. Thank you Jonny and your team for bringing my Uncle Ken’s Toyota Celica back to life. It was a pleasure to spend a day filming with you and a fitting tribute to my uncle ❀

  2. Not many of these left. They were a rust bucket back then and they all rotted away. Death traps with rot. They were badly sealed with little to no rust protection. I remember my aunt had a starlet, it was only about 8 years old at the time, I remember picking pieces of rust and paint off the hole in the front off side quarter panel. Shoddy, over rated junk, sorry.

  3. hello jonny. i saw you at Festival of speed today. got a selfie with you, thank you for showing respect towards me, good to see you don’t just switch up for the camera. like i said. you are my idol. thank you for everything jonny❀

  4. My 3rd generation corolla has a 18rg put in it. Goes so much faster then the stock 1.2L 4k

  5. Car intended for the American market = pronounced as Cell-ick-ah not sell-eek-ah. Celica. ??

  6. This barn finds are so damn good! I just wonder sometimes, due to the pile of shite we calls cars today, are my sons or grand sons going to have something similar to discover and turn back into life?

  7. Excellent show Jonny! It's interesting that you thought it reminded you of the Mitsubishi Sapporo as I thought exactly the same thing especially when I first saw the front of it.

  8. I had an 81 Corolla SR-5 lift back with the same wheel design. Wonderful car back in the mid to late 80s.

  9. I had a KP60 starlet of the same year. My first car! I can smell it again, the interior plastics were the same colours. And that Bright green owners manual? Pure nostalgia.

  10. glad Jonny mentioned the Quartz clock as I just listed one of these on Ebay πŸ˜ƒ. But if the survivors are 10 or less I can't see anyone needing it 🀨

  11. I love this series, takes me back to my childhood and first cars, such a carefree happy time.

  12. This one was starting to see Jonny revert to ed bassmaster presenting β€œ oh would you look at that , just look at it” πŸ˜…. Nice car I wonder if that should be a festival of unexceptional car as opposed to a collector speculator car. Can’t be many left now

  13. Jesus, you get a real time machine effect with this car! I was not even born when this machine rolled out the factory but it must be an amazing experience to drive it now! Amazing find and props to Graeme who looks like he knows at least as much about old cars as Jonny does. Just blown away by the whole thing, really. I hope this car gets a few more drives under its belt!

  14. Wow that's in great nick, was a bit of a Celica nut back in the 80's, the RA40 had a few different engines depending on the market, from the 1600 2T to the 2400 22R in the US, the Yamaha head 2T-G & 18R-G where the best of the early engines

  15. I always loved the styling of this Toyota Celica GT liftback model. Obviously it was aimed at the American market, as was the original Celica liftback which looked like a mini Mustang, but it looked good in Australia as well. The colour of that Celica is period perfect.

  16. Great find, almost mint. My father in law had a yellow ST and I went on to buy a very low mileage ex Guernsey Corolla 4 door saloon in Gold with a tan interior, loved it, it was so comfortable and smooth to drive. I then went on to a Celica mk4 (I think) coke bottle shape with pop up headlights. Sadly sold it due to expanding family. Now for the serious bit – Scania belt is fine, but Bjorn Borg knickers, ugh.

  17. The second generation looks best in black. Especially the first generation Supra. The black over silver is my favorite of that generation.
