Euphorbia has gotten too top heavy. Should I prune?

I had been watering it very infrequently for a few months, then watered it heavily twice before moving it outside, so I’m thinking the plant itself got heavier as it absorbed more water. It was very precarious before moving, but it was upright. I’m thinking all the wobbling while moving it loosened the soil, and now it just tries to fall straight over. Came out one night to the entire pot and plant tipped… it used to be loaded up with large stones on top of the soil.

I need to repot it anyways, so I am planning on potting it a bit deeper, and packing the soil tightly. Might also add a cedar stake to tie it off in a few places.

Otherwise, would it be better to go ahead and prune it down a bit? Would that also make it branch, instead of these few ~4-5 ft single stalks?

My absolute favorite plant now. I got it out of an apartment dumpster like 6 years ago, and it has spread like crazy. Want to get it in tip top shape.
