Container gardening is easy and has a huge payoff for the gardener.
[Music] eggplant tomatoes peppers celery even AR chokes oh my gosh we have over 20,000 vegetables and herbs in this greenhouse alone I mean wow I mean it goes forever it’s really great U so we’re doing herbs we’re doing veggies but not in your typical way because not everybody uh has a yard has a garden or access to one but we’re going to cover containers yes and you don’t have to have um a huge space I mean you can just take a little planter put it in your window sill or you could do something like this on your deck yeah this is this is you can make a statement I mean this is like a statement piece you can get creative with your containers it’s really pretty too so we have parsley we have basil thyme lavender Sage Rosemary and lots of different the mint thing is blowing me away I mean mints come a long way when I grew up it was like peppermint and spearmint and that was it but lot just just name a few of these right here so I mean we have a strawberry mint and banana mint my favorite is definitely the Mojito mint the Mojito okay I was just in Puerto Rico and drinking Mojitos I mean I I’m not in Puerto Rico clearly but they are delicious yes this one is the this one is the strawberry one and the banana you can just bunkers it’s bizarre rip some of the leaves off and just set them in some water and I mean it just it tastes good right it takes on that Essence that’s cool and you mentioned that bugs don’t like they they don’t they don’t really like mint at all and also um mint is a perennial for our area too so I mean you got to be a little bit careful when you plant them in a garden cuz it can take over um so some people box them in but otherwise I mean you might want to put them like by your patio or by your deck cuz they’ll keep the bugs away smart and they’ll fill in all the crevices they will yeah yeah put them in a rock garden or something Rosemary is another good one for bugs too right is another good it’s very fragrant oh gosh then you have you have lemongrass and lemon balm those ones are really good the citronella plant also is in this greenhouse good for bug like these Rosemary these are beautiful I me they’re huge too I they don’t overwinter here do they they don’t they’re not a perennial for our area um but you can bring them in in the winter time and you can still use it we have lots of customers that do that they just winter them over in their house and they like light but they don’t like a lot of water um so just don’t overw waterer them oh just let them dry out and you can use them in your cooking throughout the winter oh that’s so cool so they smell good all right um that’s herbs let’s go to this side where the veggies are who doesn’t love a tomato Tomatoes everybody loves Tomatoes there’s all kinds of different varieties of tomatoes too that right there is a sweet 100 so little guys right those are the little cherry tomatoes yeah um those plants can get really really big um so you definitely want to put it in a cage they need support yes but then you have your bush Champion so like a bush tomato this actually the plant stays Compact and it stays like a bush and you don’t have to support it as you don’t have to stake this at all n boy they’re making gardening really easy for us now it like a sandwich tomato so it will stay together it will um a bush Champion love it all right lettu uses love containers too they do they do really well in containers I mean this one all you have to do is just I mean we really need to start cutting it back go out a salad right now um but you’ll get like about three or four good harvests from something like am that’s a lot of lettuce great so over here we have the cucumber yeah these are the Sweet Success cucumbers and they’re like a European cucumber oh I like they don’t have the seeds right y n not a those are the best kind y so these ones will Trail you don’t have to have them go all over the ground so they’re great for a patio cuz you put them in a container you put a trellis behind it or a cage around it and they’ll just climb right up it all right you don’t need a lot of space at all nope not at all um I love this idea here you’ve got almost a meal in a container yep so this is the stir fry right um You have some garlic Shives you have a frying pepper you have Aroma tomato which those are really good um for frying up cuz they’re not really juicy so they get fried up very nicely yes yes yeah so all you have to do is add chicken and you’ve got a meal that’s right that’s right and your peppers they really like to be close together so they do very well in a container so pack them in yeah oh that’s interesting I did not know that well these are some of the tips you’ll find out at Young’s come see Catherine and man containers make it easy so give it a shot keep your growing going on gardening with gutner [Music]
