because this gardening channel is all about helping you to garden and to sort of to break down all the barriers that might prevent you from gardening such as the time it takes or I think more importantly sometimes the budget you know sometimes we think a garden full of flowers or vegetables is going to cost us a lot of money to set up so in this video I want to break down those barriers and show you how you can use a waste product from your home and use it five ways in the garden and I have used this product in all five of this of the ways so I’m not just sort of saying it to for for views this I genuinely have used this product in all the ways that I mentioned in the garden and the last two are my actual favorite so make sure you stick around to the end to hear my two the two favorite ways I use this product and how I use them so if you’re on a low budget for instance or I mean sometimes it’s not even that you’re on a low budget it’s just that that when you’re getting started the sheer amount of things that you need to get started such as even just Cheapo plant pots well those Cheapo plant pots really add up fast and also I will link my how to stop wasting your money on plastic P plant pot videos in the description so you can even find a way of getting around uh that expense but in this video we’re going to get around another expense by reusing plastic bottles all right so in this video we’re going to look at five ways you can use plastic bottles in your garden to save on your startup costs or on any costs to make sure that you can get the best out of your garden on the lowest possible budget now I have lots of water bottles because I do like mineral water and I like sparkling water and it is the one treat that I do give myself uh I’m pretty environmentally friendly I really a low resource user of energy and I give back to the environment by creating this biodiverse organic garden full of birds bees and butterflies and all different varieties as well so I do use these water bottles but on the plus side I use them over and over and over again as well so if you have water bottles or if you take water bottles on picnics or special occasions children’s parties then save these water bottles and put them in your shed because you can use them in so many ways in your garden and you can buy various SES you can use these uh the smaller ones right up to the big ones it doesn’t matter you’ll find a use for all these plastic bottles as follows in this video so the first way you can reuse your plastic bottle is basically just as a plant pot so you can cut it down to size you can have it small for starting baby plants or deep for transferring as I did some sunflowers because I had a problem with slugs and I didn’t want to plant the sunflowers out but I knew sunflowers have a long tap rot so I could cut the pots um so that they were deeper and longer to fit the sunflower so they’re very adaptable as well as plant pots all you need to do is poke some holes in the bottom cut them to the size that you want and then sew your seeds I even put holes in the side and hung them up in my greenhous like little mini plant pot hanging baskets so they are extremely adaptable so that is the first way you can use your reuse sorry your water bottle in the garden okay the second way you can reuse your water bottle is like as a mini Greenhouse so you use it as a plant pot but instead of cutting the top off you just cut the the top so that it’s like a flip lid and then you do actually take the lid off because you do want the ventilation and the rain and the elements to get in but you can use it as a mini Greenhouse if you don’t have a greenhouse you can do this and it’s a they call it on the internet they call it the winter sewing method and I before I had my Greenhouse I did a lot of sewing in the winter sewing method and used plastic water bottles as a greenhous and I have grown so many things this way and got a head start on the SE season using the bottles as little mini green houses um so that’s number two so number three is as a watering device you know for just when you’ve started your seeds but you don’t want to pour a watering can over them you can just burn holes in the lid of a bottle of water and uh spray it sprinkle it onto the top of your seeds now in fact I’ve seen this used in a variety of ways I’ve seen this used even in cooking where people use it to squirt out say for instance you know their their salad dressing or when you want to spray on some oil on top of some bread or something like that just to keep it from drying out in the oven so there actually lots of applications for putting some holes in a water bottle and using it as a squirty sort of dispenser of some liquid or other so that’s number three now number four really has worked for me a lot and that is uh as a CL so instead of cutting the top off this time you cut the bottom off and you keep the top half and use the top half as a CL and I have used the CL on sweet peas and honey wart and all sorts of plants and the other thing about using the CL with new and baby plants is that you can it will sort of protect from slugs to a degree so if you’ve had a cold wet spring and summer like we have this year who knows what is going on with our summer this year but doesn’t exist it’s like Autumn already and it’s only June uh and so the the slugs have been so active I’ve lost nearly all of my daers and that has been obviously pretty disastrous but if you you but everything I used the CL on has survived so you can use the cl to obviously put out more tender plants a little bit early and protect them from the frost uh you can protect them from the Slugs and you can protect them from Just Wind and all sorts of things the CL just gives them that more that little Greenhouse environment a bit like the winter sewing method only this time you protect the plants that are already growing in the ground and if you if you do have a greenhouse you can even use it in the greenhouse and it’ll give kind of double protection especially if you have an unheated Greenhouse you’ll just get that extra layer of protection from the frost and the cold so I didn’t realize when I was uh recording this that number four was actually protection from slugs and other pests so I’ve kind of already covered that in the CL method uh you know it’ll protect from obviously the frost but also from pests so I did have a pretty bad slug area in the garden and where I put the CL on the various plants they did actually survive really well with that CL protecting them and then the final one number five is as the drip irrigation system and this is probably my favorite and I only did this in a previous video and I’ll link that one in the description as below as well and I was sort of having a look at the clickbait videos that you see on YouTube and I thought does this really work where they drill ho put put holes burn holes into the bottle and sort of bury it into the pot where your plant is growing and I have found this with potato I will do it with potatoes next year but I only experimented with tomatoes and I have to say I really love this method and I actually don’t think it’s worth not doing this if you can um and now it turns out we’ve had such a wet last few weeks that it does I haven’t even used it but there was a period where we had a hot spell for about two weeks and it was just it was amazing cuz you could just water the pot and then I would fill up the irrigation so I knew that sometimes when you water pots with the watering can the water just runs right off and it’s not really getting deep down into those roots and watering them deep down and the drier it gets throughout the summer the harder it is for the water to Wick its way down into the lower part of the soil and so it’s sort of an Accu accumulative problem the drying out of the pot and eventually it’s really not getting wet at all even when you water it I don’t know if you’ve ever noticed that but that is a real thing that is completely combed with the drip irrigation system where you upturn the water bottle into the soil with holes at various intervals and then you fill up the water bottle and it just drip feeds the water deep down into the pot and it really really works and my tomatoes look well not that they fruited yet but the plants themselves are huge now and they’re just so Lush and I’m just really happy with it and it just it’s just a great feeling to water the pot and then to fill up that water capsule which is your water bottle and know that that is just going to keep drip feeding once you’ve watered the pot as well it kind of saturates that soil so that the water in the bottle just drips more slowly so you’ve got this constant drip of water feeding your tomatoes and whatever other plants and vegetables you want to drip feed with so there you are that cost you nothing it cost you no more than a bottle of water and you know if you go on a picnic and you see any lying around or your friends use bottled of water maybe at a dinner party or a barbecue keep those bottles take them home put them in your shed and you will be surprised how often you will be getting one out and cutting it to size in one of these various ways in your garden so there you go you don’t have to rush out and always be spending money to have a fantastic garden and so I hope this helps save you a lot of money and therefore encourages you to get out there and start growing your own all right thanks for watching hope this helped if it did remember to subscribe and click the notification Bell so you know when I put out another video and I’ll see you again soon thanks for watching bye

Hi… Jill good morning. Cibubur, Bogor is raining from night. May I know where do you live?
The water bottle irrigation trick is great. I don't like using it in my pots because I over plant and it takes up too much space. Ideal for in the ground plants .I used the 2 litre bottle next to my tomato plants etc.
Another great informative video , thanks for sharing your ideas with us
Love your poppies❤
Oh no Jill your Dahlias 🐌😔You might just have saved my peas & Cavello Nero..Cloche it is (gotta dive in the recycling bin now 😂) 🐌they’ve been a nightmare, I picked up 23 just on my concrete patio the night before last..it’s a festival out there. Love your Poppies too 🌺💖
