[Music] hi everyone Jamie here welcome back it is a very hot day today here in California it is going to be 103Β° today uh it’s about 10:30 right now and it’s already in the high 80s and it’s climbing quick so it is definitely we’ve got a Heat wve going on just a little heat wve it’s not too bad um this morning I actually went on a little road trip I went about an hour away to a town called Yuba City to film a garden tour of course I am having so much fun filming all these garden tours I went to visit this Garden her name is Allison this Gardener and she has a gorgeous Garden I can’t wait to show you all you’ll probably see in maybe two weeks I would say two two Sundays um but when I was there she lives close enough to the Antique store Antique Trove that I love going to in Roseville and so I kept pointing out things in her garden there was I was like that’s so cute where’d you get that that’s so cute where’d you get that and she said Antique Trove Antique Trove Antique Trove so it’s not quite on the way home it’s not at all on the way home but it was kind of a detour so I decided instead of going home I already missed the cool the cool morning hours instead of going home and gardening which was my plan today I was going to do a couple things I think today I’m actually going to go do a little a little bit of antiquing and then there’s also a Green Acres the garden center I love going to the big one the main one is just down the road right here and I still need my June blooming plant or June Blooming Garden so I figure let’s make it a shopping day I’ll get a a couple plants one PL or a couple plants for my June Blooming Garden and see if I can find anything at the Antique Trove because Allison inspired me [Music] [Music] see so if you guys don’t know I collect these Western Garden books 1973 six bucks yay oh my gosh look at this interesting winter effects oh my gosh I’m so excited mine so what I’m looking for is mainly garden art stuff that I can put into my garden and the best place for me to look is actually outside they have a whole outside section that’s really neat but I just can’t help it I just like looking through these booths look at this oh my gosh that’s so cool oh my God that’s so neat where would I put that that’s a cute idea cutting a chair off and using it as a shelf that’s really cute I’ve never seen this is MI Gardener he has his own Seed Company I’ve never seen his seeds anywhere look at this flower frog it is giant that is a very good way to describe it okay I’m getting distracted time to head outside and actually look for the gardening stuff all right let’s go outside Ooh It’s Hot so it’s kind of loud back here cuz we’re right next to the [Music] freeway no I don’t think Jeffrey would like that oh neat for sifting compost oh I like this flower box with Scream H I like this too except for it’s bent everything out here is a little rough around the edges just a little bit oh that’s cool oh oh my God that’s neat mhm this is how my family [Laughter] operates it’s cute oh my gosh I really like this but I don’t like the sound listen doesn’t have a good sound bummer oh my God another one this one’s a little messed up I’ve never seen these before though they’re so cool there’s a wind chime I don’t know I don’t love it I do like the sound of that one better though than the other one o this is pretty look at that oh oh yeah I think I’m going to get that oh I really like that yeah I think I’m going to get this I still want to hang a window in my garden as art I think that that would be really pretty I don’t really like these though they’re a little too worm I really like this shelf though this is going home with me look at the studs isn’t that neat someone obviously made it but they did a good job and yes I do know exactly what I’m going to do with this shelf I promise I have a place for it this poor eagle has been been here for years poor thing it needs a good home it needs a good home anybody want an eagle same with this bear he’s been here for years too more windows I can’t believe how many windows I’m finding today I feel like I’ve looked for windows before and I haven’t found them ever and then now I’m finding a ton of them more windows actually kind of like those windows is that neat sorry about my shadow oh my gosh shouldn’t I get this for my office wouldn’t that be cute oh my God I’m tempted I’m so tempted I think I’m going to get it you guys I was going to get a dig plant water repeat sign but that’s so much cuter for right outside my office H I think so that’s really cute obviously not an antique but still I like it sometimes it’s nice to have a truck okay I could spend hours in that place I love it so it’s called Antique Trove in Roseville now I’m going to head like 5 minutes down the road to Green Acres in Roseville to see if I can find something really beautiful so for those of you who don’t know this year Well starting in February because I didn’t have the idea in January but what I wanted to do is I wanted to get a plant in my garden that was blooming that month so every month next year I wanted to get a perennial or a shrub every month next year I’m going to have something blooming that month that can be like the focus and during you know like May June July it’s not going to be that big of a deal because everything’s blooming but once we get to November December January and end in February that’s when things start getting kind of iffy in the garden and so just making sure you have something blooming every month is super important so I figured I might as well go all the way through the year so we are in June let’s go find something that’s blooming for junee all right stop number two oh my gosh look at [Music] these got to get my dalas in oh my goodness so I’m trying a new thing this year I’m going to leave my delas in the ground I’m going to put them in and I’m not going to worry about it oh my God look at this look at that holy cow see June Blooming Garden is just too easy there’s just so much to choose from what is this oh my oh that’s pretty okay I need a cart we got rud Becka beautiful so all the agapan this is blooming right now oo this is a good good option for the June Blooming Garden look at this about to go crazy I know what I want you see it can you guys see it t Okay so this is C plumbago or plumbago I think the way you say it is plumbago it is beautiful it has these really pretty blue flowers it’s a big big shrub at my last house I tried to espo this I don’t know how it worked I left before it really got anywhere but it is a beautiful shrub absolutely beautiful let me see if I can find a good one so it’s big look how big it is 6 feet 8 8 to 10 ft wide it gets huge but you just can’t beat the blooms look at those that gorgeous oh funny great as a hydrange just substitute in hot dry areas H I don’t think I would call it a hydrange substitute it’s beautiful no hydren just substitute I found something else that right there white pillar Rose of Sharon oh that looks so good I told you all I was inspired by Allison to go to the Antique Trove right well I don’t want to ruin the garden tour but let’s just say Alison has one of these and it’s beautiful Robbie has one of these too I just I got to do it I got to do it Rose of Sharon White pillar oh my God I’m getting big plants today 10 to 16 feet tall four to 5 feet wide okay I feel like this is just too easy this is just too easy so these are Miss Molly butterfly bushes I actually already have one in my best for the west garden 4 to5 fet tall 4 to 5 ft wide it has the prettiest color blooms look at that isn’t that beautiful here’s a good one right here is see that oh so I have one in my best for the west garden and I think they need two more so I definitely went very heavy on shrubs this month but that’s okay the shrubs are blooming this month and I need more shrubs so I’ve got the fago the blue of that mixed with the magenta of the Miss Molly and then the Pure White of the white pillar I think it’s going to be gorgeous and these are all going in my best for the west garden or the orchard Garden I did pick up a strawberry because I’m missing having strawberries this is an Al albon which is an everbearing type so that means it’ll keep producing throughout the rest of the season even though it’s already June it’s late to it’s late to plant this but I’m going to push it a little bit I just want some strawberries and success I did good that was super easy I mean I’m telling you May June and July are going to be the absolutely the easiest months for the monthly Blooming Garden it’s just I mean it’s not fair the hard thing is when you start getting into the late fall winter early early early spring when you really have to pay attention to what you’re planting so that you do get blooms those months this is just this is just too easy so I’m probably not going to plant today because it is just way too hot it’s too hot for me and it’s too hot for the plants anyway and if I go home and plant today it’s going to be in the hottest part of the day so that will be another video planting uh but I did have fun going to the Antique store and I did have fun going to the garden center now I need to cool off I got to go get a drink got to head home and I’m probably going to do chores inside oh which is what I should be doing anyway so all right you guys I hope you enjoyed this and I hope you all have a chance to get in your garden today [Music]

  1. Janey careful with that plumbago, they grow through underground rhizomes and mine started invading under plants around it.

  2. I’m cracking up… and feeling oldπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚1973 Sunset book was my first garden book!!

  3. Hi Janey! At 4:18 I thought it was hilarious that you passed a booth with the sign 'Garden Girl' (over your right shoulder) just as you were saying, "Time to head outside and actually look for the gardening stuff." 🀣 Maybe there wasn't garden stuff in that booth? The office sign was so cute. Maybe you could paint or stencil your 'Dig, Plant, Water, Repeat' logo above or below the "Office" lettering in your signature Rejuvenation green, outlined in black with some pretty flower accents. Great video! I loved all the different content.

  4. Took my 84-year-old mom to Antique Trove, and we only got through half of everything they have. Loved what you got, but I couldn't believe you ignored the iron chicken! I think you need one of those. Can't wait to see you plant everything you got. I just purchased a Sunset Western Garden Book (1994) at a local American Cancer Discovery Store in Elk Grove today before I watched today's episode. I have a few empty spots in my yard, so can't wait to read about plants in my Sunset Zone 8.

  5. The cape plumbago is very pretty, but I completely agree that it is not a substitute for hydrangea! I was hoping you would choose the agapanthus. I just love them. the office sign and the Sunset Garden book were great finds!

  6. Hi Miss Janey, loved going antiquing and flower shopping with you. I love the office sign and cant wait to see where you put your beautiful shelve. And your flower bushes are all so beautiful. Great video. Love y'all ❀❀❀❀

  7. I am so glad that you bought the office sign! It is going to look so cute. Love the colors of the shrubs that you chose. They will all look beautiful in your garden. You are so lucky to have the space for them! πŸ₯°πŸ’

  8. Janie. did you get the Sunset book? I had that very same book when I lived in northern California…hmm, wonder what ever happened to it, I save everything. Here in Florida, Southern Living is our equivalent but it can't bear Sunset!

  9. Janey – I love that check for what’s blooming each month and buy that plant for your garden. It is one of my favorite things you are doing at your new place!

  10. I'm in Sacramento for work (again) this week and YOU WERE SO RIGHT ABOUT ANTIQUE TROVE! I spent way more than I planned, lol. What an awesome place!

  11. OMG that Rose of Sharon is gorgeous! I was wondering if you were planning on putting a plumbago in this garden- so glad you did! Also, I left my dahlias in the ground last year and they are doing better than ever! I'm sure yours will be just fine. πŸ™‚

  12. My kids and I love the Antique Trove! I didn't realize you are in my neck of the woods so often. I bring every visitor antique shopping, when they come up from the Bay Area. I am holding my breath for all my flowers as we start this 10 day run of the triple digit numbers. I will be interested to see what makes it through the heat. I'm praying my hydrangreas will be OK. My next door neighbor has the blue plumbago and it looks amazing right now. Stay cool!
