Choose a container or bag with 10- 20 gallons capacity and fill it with well-draining soil mix.

Plant 1-3 seed potatoes per container, about 4-6 inches deep, with at least one eye per piece, and water thoroughly.

Add more compost to top up container, as the plants grow, keep them in full sun, and support sprawling stems if needed.

Monitor soil moisture weekly, but don’t overwater.

Fertilise every 4-6 weeks, and watch for pests and diseases.Although a benefit of growing potatoes in containers is there tends to be less risk of disease.

Harvest potatoes 10-12 weeks after planting, when the leaves turn yellowish and die back. Harvesting also tends to be easier with this method as no digging or forks are required and you can just tip the container upside to not risk damaging any with forks or spades.
