the fifth principle of permaculture is use and value renewable resources and services I’m still new to permaculture and completely adapting will take time but as I learn I realize I use a lot of unsustainable practices one thing I do well is nutrient recycling I compost food scraps yard waste and chicken manure I use vermiculture to create worm castings I cover crop with nitrogen fixers like beans or Clover I make my fertilizers from bananas fish coffee grounds and other natural renewable choices I no longer use any chemical fertilizers and my plants are thriving but I still use a lot of plastics so in the next few years I plan to move to more sustainable techniques like soil blocking I’ll mulch my garden beds to manage weeds and retain moisture I’ll expand my use of solar and biofuel with renewable resources we can cut down our use of manufactured chemical solutions that damage the environment and that’s good I tend to use the environment for stuff like breathing I actually do that quite a bit like every day [Music]

  1. There's a name for it? Cool. That makes my life easier. I just call it living off the grid, and using sustainable regenerative practices.

  2. All those chemicals damage the soil health, thereby damaging our health. Wet cardboard with woodchip mulch is the best solution for keeping areas weed free and also bringing in earthworms and feeding the soil 💚💚💚

  3. Don't forget your pee is gold in permaculture. So much so its called gold water. Look in to it and how to use it being safe.

  4. Soil blocking backfired on me, roots would go from one block to another, killing the smaller plant in the process

  5. This guy is really inspiring. He's well spoken and comes with a good heart. I don't agree with all his views, but it seems he's doing good for his family and himself. Thanks for your videos.

  6. It doesn't have to be perfect. if you use a bit of plastic ten times over each season then that basically carbon neutral. Don't adopt a practice that is not smarter, or more efficient than what you're already doing, unless it is part or a structured upgrade of process that will pay off down the line. Still great to see progress like this. Chickens are agame changer in these systems.👍👍👌

  7. You should look into home biogas production. It gives you natural methane and liquid fertilizer. And solid fertilizer when you clean it out.

  8. The NH combine can run a 8.5 meter header, but i agree that your current combine is big enough, especially if you are planning on expanding with non-combinable crops.

  9. Where’s the water being wasted to..? Outer space..? The same water that the earth was created with hasn’t gone anywhere..
