well hello there fellow Gardener it’s mid June and while many people’s Gardens are already blooming it’s not too late to get in on your own my garden for instance is growing quite steadily despite the recent Frost so let’s grab of a cool beverage and talk to some experts about what you should be doing for late gardening season you can still enjoy a fruitful Harvest by focusing on quick growing plants and late season vegetables hey well if you’re planning a lake Garden right now with vegetables you probably want to find vegetables that are already started um definitely not from seedlings a little too late in the season but you want to find and look for hearty looking plants that are um green maybe even has some growth already going on it as far as what it’s producing in addition to fast growing veggies consider planting perennials and annual that thrive in cooler weather that way your garden can flourish well into the fall one important consideration for late season planting is soil preparation ensuring your soil is rich in nutrients can make a significant difference in how well your plants grow um as far as if you’re trying to repair a garden I know from experience because that’s what I’m dealing with um you really want to do some maintenance on your plants if you can help your plants survive through the next couple weeks till we get some really solid summer um weather what you want to do is you may want to do some light pruning on some of your plants um you you also may want to add a little bit more fertilizer if you’re doing baskets um or if you’re doing planner boxes like I am you may want to add a liquid fertilizer watering is another crucial aspect especially during the hotter months keep an eye on soil moisture and water consistently to ensure your plants don’t dry out another thing to consider are raised Planters like this that can help to retain the heat as well as keep the plants out of the cold for just a little while longer as the Sun beats down on on them they warm up and then my big tree provides lots of shade during the day lastly be mindful of the first frost date which is typically around late September in Great Falls choose plants that can either mature before then or withstand the cooler temperatures of our 4A climate so if you haven’t started your gardening yet don’t worry there’s still plenty of time to grow for more tips and hints go to our website in Great Falls I’m James Rolan MTN news
