How to Grow Blackberries

Growing Tips:
Plant blackberries 2′-3′ apart in rows about 12′ apart. Irrigation is essential to produce quality fruit. Begin watering in March or April, using drip irrigation, if possible, to avoid wetting the leaves. Water well during bloom and fruit set, and as fruit is ripening

how to grow blackberries in a pot so here you can see me drilling holes in the bottom of my container so that I’ll have drainage I’m adding in some organic potting soil that is made specifically for container or raised beds and I’m using thornless blackberries so that is what I will be growing so right here I am getting it out of the pot by gently rolling it along the sides and I’m breaking up the roots here and placing it inside of the hole and one of the things that you want to do is make sure that everything is even so that it grows straight so uh at this point I am watering and be sure not to water the leaves I didn’t realize that bye

  1. Where I live blackberries are a nuisance and can't be contained, quickly taking over an area. Of course if they were thornless it wouldn't be a big deal.

  2. I battle the Oregon Blackberries in my back yard every year. They grow Wild and get out of control and takeover. The thorns leave me with battle scars. So to see someone purposefully plant them makes me shudder. Keeping p them in a container is a good idea, but I’d rather have to buy them.😊

  3. I usually add stones of varying sizes to add with drainage in the bottom of my pots
I didn't know you could get thornless blackberries
🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️This is me running to my local garden centre to check them out😂
Best of luck with yours xx

  4. Tried one in a pot and the pot didnt make it. It is a cane plant, it will spread by sending up shoots from the roots. Those roots will be in the ground and you will see shoots come up feet away from the plant. I had to eventually kill the plant just to get the broken pot from around the bottom of the plant.
