  1. Maybe you could put a pool noodle or a tennis ball on top of the t posts to eliminate any chance of the shade cloth catching on them?

  2. Absolutely love the overhead shot of the garden! It’s just beautiful! Miah, you have done a phenomenal job with the structures and Jess with the plants! Simply stunning 💚💚💚

  3. This was very helpful and well explained, thank you !! Such a great idea and straight forward to do. I’m in NC and with the drought and heat we’re having I think this might be in my own garden’s future soon. 🌼

  4. Woah I bet that auger is really handy to have on the farm!

I probably would’ve gotten some high quality carabiners on the ends of each of the tensioners so that you could just loosen them and take it down quickly in the case of bad weather.

  5. I get so jealous of you, Miah. I can't build anything. I'm totally incompetent with tools. My Dad was an Electrician, and his dad was a master carpenter. I am hopelessly inept. But I love homesteading! Thanks for this video.

  6. Looks good Miah. I would of just cut some pool noodles and stuck them on the cattle panel top. Yours is more professional. Thank you for the tutorial.

  7. What a beautiful project once again! You explain everything so clearly, and the end result is amazing! I'm a little bit jealous…. 💙💚

  8. Is the fabric not strong enough to put the posts far enough away to run it tight? Like if one were to do the math from the heights of pole and distance and place them for it to be run tight?

  9. So what happens during high wind? Will it provide protection also into fall / winter? How is this different than the high tunnel? No sides? Intetesting. Thanks for sharing and helpful instructions. 🐸😎

  10. Love seeing the shared work, the friendship, and another great project. That skid-steer is amazing. Wish I had one. Ha. Tiny yard, would never work. It'll be my back that does that work. I should have bought more land.

  11. I'd like to think this project came from an idea I had planned to do for my tomato plants last year 😊 but…. your plan is far superior than what I had planned for my backyard tomato garden 😂

Great information & instruction Miah & Dave 😂

  12. Smart readjustment! I was thinking just put some PVC caps on the T-posts to protect the cloth, but that's the lazy bum way of doing things! That secondary support wire is dope.

  13. What about a couple Steel mounts on top of the 4×4's to raise the center…. Basically raise the roof; should tighten it up for ya…. Love the videos! 🙂

  14. In South Korea, ginseng has to be grown in the shade. It's problematic b/c South Korea is mountainous- little shade. Farmers get around this problems by building hundreds of smaller shade shelters for their farms. There, they're cheap and easily assembled.

  15. Lovely result!! With record breaking temps every summer everybody growing tomatoes in the south is going to need this type of shading in their gardens, very clever!🫶

  16. Maybe some pvc ends or tees on the ends of the metal t posts may assist in preventing damage to the cloth in windy weather.

  17. It was both informative and entertaining. I put tube socks over the ends of t-posts if I'm worried they will snag or poke.

  18. Thanks for the tutorial and the specifics of what products you used and why you chose them. It looks terrific! The only thing that you might consider is if you get a lot of wind, the shade cloth may degrade and get holes by rubbing on the support wires. We used pipe wraps on our hoop house greenhouse that we made and it worked well to keep the plastic from rubbing on the cattle panels. If you wrapped the support wire with it, it would help alleviate that issue and extend the life of the shade cloth.

  19. This was wonderful. I may be asking too much, but could you put a list of materials in the description box? No worries if you cannot, but it would be greatly appreciated if you do. Blessings from NC.

  20. Wondering what the temp was before and afterwards. 🤔 thanks for idea. Already have my shade cloth too. 😎 it's 93 F here in Utah. Crazy hot 🔥 too soon!!!

  21. Miah, I always love the way you describe your methods to purchase precise hardware you need 👍. My style exactly. I've done something like this in the past & found that the wind beats the shade cloth to pieces at the anchor points unless I trapped it between 2 layers of support. So what I did was to basically make a loop around the cloth, ie, above and below the anchor points which limited the degree of excursion that the cloth could sail up with the wind from it's resting point. My structure was much smaller than yours in width and length, but I found it necessary to do the top/bottom treatment at each support that wasn't reinforced with multiple layers of fabric & grommets. (All the middle sections) I hope that the project works to protect the tomato patch and holds up for more than one season. As always, blessings to you all, the family & Wez. 🙏💜

  22. My favorite part of this video was watching you guys walk fast with the music. 🤓 it made me happy. And it looks amazing. Great job.

  23. I told my husband today we needed to do this. You tube must have been listening, cause I went to it and here this was! Cut a pool noodle in pieces and stick on T post.
