Welcome to Nate’s Urban Garden!
In this video, we harvest beets from our initial sewing of seeds in our city/urban garden 2024. The seeds were planted in mid march and are being harvested after a little more than two months. Enjoy the harvest and fun facts about beets and the health benefits they offer.

you’re like me and you want to lose weight so that you’re not always going to be shaped like a warus or you’re battling your own health conditions my goal is to inspire you to get out and grow your own food so with that being said I’m Nate and welcome to my Urban Garden [Music] all right now this bed has the monsters in it let’s grab one yikes that’s insane what’s up Growers I’m n and I’d like to welcome you all back to my garden it is the end of May and as y’all can see with me stepping over stuff I got a lot of Maintenance and things that I can actually Harvest here so um I think I’m going to do that today I’m going to harvest something that I’ve been super excited about harvesting and I look exactly like that root crop I think he’s excited too I look like a beet so I’m going to be harvesting some beets today and if you don’t know I have two raised beds full of beets some of them are small some of them are large I planted them in early March mid-march I’m sorry mid-march to the toward the end of March and like I say it’s the end of May and I’m in Texas if you don’t know it is hot and these beats are ready to to uh get into my body so um without further Ado I’m not going to hold this up we going to get straight into it but before so if you enjoyed this content hit the thumbs up leave a like on the video and um if you’re not subscribed it’s the perfect time to do so and with that being said I’ll meet you all near the Beats my beat beds are looking beat all right I’mma quit making stale beat jokes but I mean if you look at them they’ve been out here for a little while and they’re ready so like I said we’re going to harvest them and if you can look you see some pretty decent size beets out here and as always my goal is to inspire you all to grow your own food so I’m going to of course give you all a little bit of information about them as I Harvest mine so anyway let’s get to the Harvest all right y’all I’m going start with this bed and of course me personally I believe in wearing long sleeves and gloves when I’m in my garden there are spiders and all kinds of things in your garden now don’t don’t get it twisted they are good good Pest and they are bad pest as always you know there are good people bad people right but I I just like to protect myself so let’s see what we got here we starting off with a nice little cluster here’s our first beat it’s a tiny one but don’t worry they get bigger let’s get the rest of this cluster there are so many right here one two three four five six there are like seven beats just in this area so that is crazy and if you don’t know beets actually grow their seeds are like a cluster so that’s why they grow in this way and for those of you that don’t know beets are actually quite healthy I could have left this one in there look at that um beats are quite healthy they’re good for your heart um for personally my goal is to help with my heart palpitations I have heart palpitations and they started in 2022 as of right now the doctors can’t tell me why so they say my heart seems perfectly healthy but beats are good for your heart and that’s why I chose to grow two beds because I plan on drinking beet juice daily all right now we’re getting into some big ones wow this guy is massive look at that what girl might have been a girl beat heck who knows yeah the heat has absolutely softened these some of them that’s how I know it’s time to take them so before the the bugs get them I’mma get them and I got another use for this bed now in that other bed there’s a huge one so for those of you that already grow your own food let me know what you’re growing in your garden do you grow beets heck do y’all even like beats and if so how do you eat them do you cook them do you juice them what’s your preferred method for consuming these there’s a lot of Beats y’all look at that now we’re getting to some big ones w [Music] I’m almost done with this bed I’ve gotten half of it done but it’s just crazy to think I still got this half and a whole another bed left crazy and like I said this has been maybe two months of growing food about two months yeah and look how much I’ve gotten it’s a lot look at this all that’s big that’s the biggest one so far in the bed my back is going to be killing me when I’m done with this what was the problem I broke my back what do you mean by that you’re broken my back is broken what a vertebrae or or what portion spinal but you know you don’t have to grow them in a bed you could grow them on a table so that they’re up high so when you’re picking them you’re not killing your back like me for wow don’t know if that one was ready well all right that’s going to do it for the first bed when I tell you I saw some big ones in this other bed over here I saw a real gigantic one so I’m going to start with that one let’s get over there all right now this bed has the monsters in it let’s grab one yikes that’s insane and that’s just one of them [Music] he he [Music] [Music] [Music] like I said I got a lot of Maintenance to do cucumber just everywhere [Music] [Music] [Music] this is a lot of bending but it is what it is let’s go you know these beats right here have been with me for my intros and it’s going to sh be a shame to not see them anymore but man they got some size on them and if you’re wondering yes my goal is to had grown enough beats to last me for the rest of this year I think I’ve done so but we’ll we’ll we’ll know soon enough also getting these beats on out of here will help get out of here will help get the pest out my beds of course they’ve made the soil nice and a little bit looser at the top which helps for my good bugs as well oh that’s that’s a big watermelon that’s not a watermelon that’s a big cucumber come here big fella y this is our last little corner and I think we about to get some rain it’s going to rain on your head so I might need to hurry this up so we can get to the C the table I don’t know if I’m going to be able to count them but I’ll at least be able to show you how many I’ve harvested if you watch through this long on the video cuz I mean it’s just me harvesting beats so some of y’all are probably bored I just appreciate the support you know I come out here I do this because it helps me with my mental health saves me some money and gives me food right I mean I feel like this is a dying art or a dying skill and I think we all should do it even on a small SC you ain’t getting the way I see you I think that’s the last one here we go and that is our beat Harvest check out these piles and then I’ll meet you at the table good [Music] sounds good [Music] [Music] oo okay this is my beat Harvest I am beat after harvesting all of these H funny yes but not funny haha funny weird and that was my last corny beat joke yo if this don’t inspire you to get out and grow your own food and listen like I said you could grow them on a table like this and get a good harvest you know like I the crazy part about this is all of these leaves you know with beets they’re edible so you could even make a salad with the leaves but of course I let mine go a little bit way too too long so I’m going to cut them and the leaves will be used in my composter and that’ll be for another video of course when I show you all how to make fertilizer naturally you know you don’t need a store to be honest Hest now nothing wrong with it I I’ve used stores and heck actually I use some store bought compost for these um but my goal going forward is to make my own and I would encourage you all to try it as well and Heck if I fail maybe you’ll learn something from me but as always if you found use in this content hit the thumbs up for me that way YouTube will push this video to more Growers like yourself and uh if you’re not subscribed perfect time to do so until next time y’all take care of yourselves take care of those around you take care of your garden and it’ll take care of you and I will catch you all in the next video peace yeah it’s getting late and I’m still going still going still going e

damn bro! nice job. my beets are just getting started over here.
dayum! that's a hell of a lot of beets!
100% with you on the sleeves and gloves thing. Applying granulated fertilizer without sleeves on one time and my arms STUNK. The powder settled on my arms and I had to use some pumice soap to get it off, you never know what you're exposing yourself to out there!
Impressive harvest man!
Love it man! You've really put in the work and it has paid off! <Your old RMG buddy>
Great harvest 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
Hey Nate! Just found your channel.
I’m processing my beet harvest today so this was the perfect video for my morning coffee.
By the way I lost 150 lbs and I understand the struggle.
I’m looking forward to more videos.
That was a great harvest! Have you thought about making a video while planting?
beets roasted the pickled
That beet is huge!
WOW, what an amazing harvest.. just recently harvest mine and will be making pickles beets with them.
Hi. Just found your channel. That's a great beetroot harvest! How long do they keep in the box? I struggle to grow beetroot just because the slugs usually win (hubby and I live in the UK so slugs are our constant companions 🤣). When we do have a harvest, we never store them. We eat them fresh harvesting right through the growing season and if we have a glut (rarely) we make beetroot relish. YUM! I look forward to seeing more of your garden.
