I’m swapping out some lettuce today we’ve got quite a lot of that little gem that’s ready to harvest but I’ve also got quite a few Oak Leaf Green to plant and that’s a leaf lettuce and they grow really big leaves but they’re very tasty you can also get that in red as well but first first thing we need to do is get some of these lettuce out take those roots out and then add a little bit of fresh compost just to bring it back to a level and then we’re good to go and that’s another variety of lettuce to look forward to we have got some in this bed but I’m leaving them to grow on a little longer cuz there is a couple that’s still quite small we’ve got a couple of big ones in there that I’ll take today but over in this bed we’ve nearly took all the lettuce from there so we’ll take that one last L Roso and we’ll amend that area and that’s where we’re going to put this oak leaf lettuce and we’ll take a row of those out as well cuz there is quite a lot and give everything just a little bit more room at the same time I’m going to cut these lettuce up to start with because then we get really nice clean leaves and then we’ll take the roots out after and we’ll get a nice portion of those done this tumbling Tom tomato plants really come on as well so things are getting a little bit desperate for space now these are definitely good to go if you leave your lettuce too long you’ll notice it’s going to start and get tall and thin and that’s because it’s bolted and these are just perfect so before they get much bigger and that weather gets any warmer we’re better off taking them now and that is a really good example then we’ve got this last L Roso and you can see that’s put quite a bit of growth on so we’ll take that as well and that’s that row completely cleared ready for something new going in we’ll just give it a bit of a TIY before we do that and then amend that compost so that’s yet another brilliant Harvest just a week later from when we took the last one of course we’ll not be using all that we’re going to share it out a little so now we’ll get some of this Oak Leaf Green put in and then we’ve got a fresh batch of lettuce on this way and we’ve got two packs of these so one at packs are put in containers we’ve also got some really nice size beetroot plants now so if we want wanted we could snit a couple of these leaves away and just leave all rest to grow on and then we’ll still get bulbs as well but they looking really healthy but for today we’re going to concentrate on amending this compost so I’m basically just churning it up just to make sure there’s no roots left in there and just taking out any that’s been left behind when we do that we’re getting the entire root ball out then I’m just going to top that up with some fresh compost I’m raising that level slightly as I do this so I can put those plants in and keep them off that compost so as you can see that’s all now been renewed and as I said I’ve raised that compost up slightly now we can get a few of these plugs in we’ll not need too many though because it’s quite a big plant when it reaches maturity doing mate you all right all right buddy how you doing yeah they’re looking well isn’t they’re coming on I yeah lovely thank you I’m just going to level that out a little bit with this piece of wood and you can see that because we’ve added that fresh compost it’s still going to be higher than original level which is what we want then we’ll just make those holes that we need keep your lettuce deep if possible we don’t have to put them too far apart probably around 4 in and I’ll just pop out the biggest ones of these and we have to do it carefully otherwise they’ll separate these plugs have got lots and lots of roots so they’re definitely ready so I’m just going to drop that entire plugin line that push that down pinch it together and all those leaves are off that compost now and that’s exactly how we want them and it looks like they’re pretty much all the same but we’ve got some nice alha little lettuce ceilings there and I’ll pick and choose between both packs so we get the biggest ones definitely ready all right buddy looking lovely a it all we keep getting some from it so we keep at it yeah very nice cheers pH so just a couple more and we’ve got a fresh row of oak leaf lettuce and when you go around your plants make sure that you’re pressing around that base so none of those leaves are touching that compost that’s his last one in so there we go a freshly amended bed and a new variety of lettuce all planted up which will be harvesting in no time at least there’s one thing even if the weather’s rubbish lettuce still grows as do quite a lot of other things so you should be getting some Harvest yourself at this point from things like lettuce maybe spring onions and spinach but you can also plant things like we’ve done the beetroot and when those leaves get big enough you could Harvest them and mix that in with your salad as well and the will grow back and you will still get bulbs later year but for now we’ve got a nice row of fresh what they call gourmet salad a loose leaf Oak Leaf Green maybe give those a go and see how it grows for you something else we’ve just started doing is taking trips out and we’ll be recording these day trips and popping them onto his Caravan Channel and yesterday we had a really nice day at jalta point but that’s going to be one of many as we get into summer so if you want to follow us and see where we go and what we do I’ll leave a link to the Caravan channel in description so pop over there maybe subscribe to that channel and join us through summer on a few days out and if you want to see what else we’re growing over the next few weeks please hit that subscribe button press that notifications Bell and I look forward to seeing you on next one take care

You are an inspiration Ivan!!!! Just put some more Little Gems in. Keep up the good work and enjoy those Typhoons going over, a daily sight in Lincolnshire.
I’ve just planted up my new planter today (like yours). I copied your planting plan and hope you don’t mind! Praying it works for me as well as it does for you 😊
I'm harvesting turnips, chard, peas and some of the broad beans I sowed last autumn. Soon I'll have globe artichokes! I put a video up on my channel if you're interested.
loved that you kept getting interupted from your friendly neighbough. It'd good to hear they are liking what you have done too XD
You have done so amazing. You have more lettuce and beetroot success than I have in allotment and garden. I am so impressed.
My plants are also struggling to get going this year. Geo-engineering is a very real concern and one all gardeners who like to grow food need to be aware of. I'm seriously thinking about getting a poly tunnel. Your veg beds look great Ivan!
Hi there your beets look great mine are terrible don't no what I've done 😂
Looks lovely outside your van, so full & healthy, everything just outside ready to harvest when you need to, great stuff. Rain again this afternoon for a change lol, so cool too. Watched your walk with Ginny yesterday but didn't know where it was lol, bet it's even nicer in warmer weather. Cheers Ivan for the update…
thank you Ivan
You are doing a great job.x
I could never use that much lettuce… I just start a few new seeds sets every two weeks. That way I get just enough with little waste. 😊
Nice amount of food in such a small area. Great job. Thanks, 🙂
Great harvest. Always learn something new from your videos. Thank you.

Thanks Ivan, another lovely harvest and some more lettuces planted, great stuff. Take care and all the best. Stevie
Hi Ivan looks like your not getting any bugs that’s great, your garden is looking beautiful ❤
Looks as though you've some leaf miner damage on your beetroot, hope it isn't too bad. I've had them so mush that I've put up insect netting today.
Beautiful compost Ivan, which one are you using, if you can say? It's flipping freezing over here, more like October than June! I'd love the growth you're getting!
Amazed by the amount of planting you have there.
