This year my main garden is still not able to be planted. So I’m having to change my garden plans this year and grow in more containers.

Dollar tree seeds

this is it apparently this year we’re growing chickens and ducks and Min manyi weeds such as this glorious Dock and obnoxious grasses that are hard to get rid of the garden had just dried out my dad wrote a tells this Garden for me his tractor is in the shop getting repaired so just waiting for that to happen and then the plan was to Rod aill but we’ve got up to 2 in of rain coming our way today and tomorrow so my dad said I don’t think you’re going to have Garden this year and I thought what so I checked the weather forecast and sure enough it was gorgeous yesterday and it’s raining today so I don’t know what that will mean I don’t know how much rain we’ll really get I don’t know how that will affect our garden we’ll probably have some standing water it will likely dry out faster than it did this last time we haven’t had a bunch of rain recently so I’ll be spending this week debating what am I going to do in the meantime I’ll just be planting every bucket raised area pot that I have with whatever goes in it so our other strawberry Planters came these are out of stock now but um my mom ordered these for the girls and everybody really to put all the strawberries in cuz they’re so cute put these together with the other berries since the strawberries are perineal I want to see how they did in the deeper pocket and then the shallower one you can get more plants on this one but this allows for more root growth okay I got that one up that’s all I’m going to get done tonight it’s getting late and there’s so many mosquitoes they driving me nuts okay we’ve got two more planters for over there hopefully I can get them all planted day I’m not sure if I can or not it takes a bit of time so the strawberry planters are complete these are holding 138 strawberry plants in this little area here so now I need to put the little deer net fence up around them so the deers don’t have a treat instead of us okay fence up they could stand here and eat over the top but I’m I’m hoping this kind of startles them and they and they don’t so this second green stock we have I have not sewn seeds in it yet so I’m going to go ahead and do that I’m giving the individual Pockets a good amount of water before I start and I will also fill it in the top as well get the flowers a nice drink it’s really important that seeds have really nice moist soil cuz they have to absorb water before they germinate so if it’s nice and wet it’ll hasten the germinating process this entire planter will be leafy greens of some sort I’m going to start off with some butter crun next row is Grand Rapids Row from the bottom is a is a Roma lettuce fourth from the bottom flashy trout back second from the top is a red roma the very top one this is a lettuce it just has black on it I’m not sure exactly what lettuce this is but we’ll plant it and see so on this bed of radishes we’re going to be harvesting this soon but not quite yet because some of them still have some growing to do so what I’m going to do is I’m going to interplant some more radishes in here this is all the seeds that were left in this packet so I’m just going to try to sprinkle and plant them all throughout here and randomly cover them and hopefully all is well I just kind of scratch them in you get get so many radish seeds in a packet especially if you order from True Leaf Market get the giant packs of seeds for hardly anything um if you if if if few don’t germinate because of quick planting it’s it’s okay the amount of time Sav doing it this way and as being precise is definitely worth it I have more seed than time and I’m going to just water them in really good this is just about a week later you can see there’s a lot more growth and we’re going to harvest these pretty soon I’m going to plant the rest of this pack bok choy this packet’s quite old and I’m just going to sprinkle all the seed in it this is one of my favorite vegetables and I’m just literally shaking them everywhere same method scratch them in you can see from the radishes it usually works I think my spinach seed was so old it just didn’t hardly ger germinate this is one week later the leaves on the spinach are a little larger so the herbs are doing well except for the Gophers i’ say the plum tree is loaded these blueberry bushes will get quite large but not yet it’s going to take some years of growing so I’ve got all this bed space that needs to have something growing in it I don’t want to leave the soil bear so I’m going to be planting in here green beans soil in these beds is absolutely terrible so I will definitely be amending it with some good compost just like I did when I planted the blueberries so I’m going to put a couple in here when I dig it’s just it’s literally hard as a rock it’s awful soil so this has added peite in it to help it drain I’m just going to mix it in with this soil I’m just going to make a whole row of it here where I’m going to plant a couple beans these are Contender bush beans I plant them pretty close and they do just fine cover them up [Music] hopefully the birds aren’t watching me Little Rascals come pull the seeds out of the ground okay I’m going to finish planting the rest of this this is all going to be in green beans down ah Thorn these are true Leaf Market seeds my favorite Seed Company to buy in bulk you get a lot of seed for the money way better prices than what you can get locally in the stores or most online seed companies actually Dollar Tree seeds are the best bargain for your money you know if that’s a main concern there’s just not a lot of variety I did an actual video where I did the math to see if they were a good deal since you don’t get a lot of seeds in the packet I wasn’t sure are these a good deal even though they’re just a quarter or are they really not a good deal cuz there’s just a tiny bit of seed in there they’re a super good deal so I’ll link that video in case you want to go check it out turn to water them in really good just going to soak it soak it soak it thought I’m going to put some snow peas because this is actually at my granddaughter’s house and they love snow peas so I think I’m going to put three I’m going to put them in three different spots I’m using tomato cages I probably should have picked the larger ones because these peas will get to be about 4 4 and 1/2 ft tall and this is not that tall but they can grow up above it going to do a ring of peas around the bottom of each one I’m going to add a little bit of this compost here as well dig it in all around and just lay the peas out like that and then as they grow if some of them are trying to sprawl I’ll just wrap them around this so they’re all growing up these are snow peas they’re not really tall even if you get a bush pee you’re going to want to give it some sort of a trellis because they just sprawl all over the ground making it really difficult to harvest they get entangled with each other always give peas no matter how tall they get their own [Music] trellis all right one done this is the last one in this bed then we’re going to move over to my granddaughter’s bed and do her Peas I have netted them because the deer to come through here and have a little snacky snack so so this plastic netting keeps them away let’s get this one planted these are these are the snow pod Peas the snow peas with just the pods is that the one you like best yes just okay wait like no have peas inside it’s mostly the Pod do you want pods and peas yes okay we’ll do this one pods and the other one we’ll do at the other end we’ll do some peas or next to it maybe you’re doing a good job being careful just going to show take and put the if you see big clouds of dirt just move them out of the way all these clouds of dirt and rocks they can’t they can’t grow through the Rocks so you make sure nobody puts rocks in your garden okay they just they magically appear grand daughter’s beds got finished so there’s strawberries in there the deer did come through here so it’s been Ned off now then she’s got some peas here they don’t like potatoes so they might take a nibble or two but they shouldn’t harm the potatoes here she’s got her potatoes out out here more potatoes something stole the potato in there I’m guessing a child but who knows

  1. You are going to have a lot of stuff growing still! Have you thought about trying to grow pumpkins or something in the area if you can't get it tilled up? The potato thief, probably a child🤣 Not much you can do about those kind of garden critters. I really love the greenstalks, I need to think vertically since I am limited on space.

  2. I love how you are adapting to grow your garden. We just put up our first pea fence on the weekend.
Haha. Children definitely remove plants on occasion.

  3. Sorry that you've been so wet. We've had a LOT of rain too. I think we've already had more rain than all of last year. You're adapting and you'll have a great garden! Keeping my fingers crossed for both of us! Cheers Lisa!!

  4. I feel your pain with the wet. We've had a cold wet spring and the only things growing well are the weeds. I am growing in containers such as old baths and 50 gal barrels and will definitely be adding more.
