and we are live hello my friends my name is Evelyn joy and welcome back to my channel I’m going to go through all of my seeds that I have set aside for growing this year and I’m going to talk about which ones I’m going to start inside ahead of times and which ones I’m going to plant directly outside and why okay so first off I’ve got different kinds of carrots um so it’s important to get the bigger kinds of carrots uh like these ones these are nams because one seed makes one carrot and so I don’t get any that have half long or dwarf in the name I get the bigger carrots also it’s really fun to um grow some rainbow carrots so this is a rainbow Blend or a kaleidoscope blend of different kinds of colors of carrots cuz that’s one fun thing about gardening is you can grow things that you can’t always find in the grocery store like rainbow carrots right so carrots come in different colors uh they can come in purple yellow white or red or orange and so that’s just fun so I’m going to put all my carrot and also this is a new one this is seed tape so it has your carrot seeds already spaced out so you just put it in the ground and cover it with a little Soil and Water it and it’s supposed to make the perfect lineup of carrots because you don’t want your carrot seeds to be too close together because if your carrot seeds are too close together you’ll get a lot smaller carrots or you’ll get deformed carrots that look like an octopus right because it’s several carrots stuck together which I kind of like those ones because again things you don’t find at the grocery store are kind of fun all right so the ones I’ve talked about I’m going to to put back in my container right here all right oregano so I have one raised bed that has oregano in it you see one year I got a starter plant of oregano I didn’t even know that it’s Perennial meaning it comes back every year and I didn’t know that when oregano blooms it attracts um bees so each year the oregano has come back bigger and so I just want to fill up one whole raised bed full of oregano to come back every year and attract all the beasts to my garden I love it so I got these seeds from Dollar Tree for 25 cents each I’ve got three packets and I’m just going to fill the raised bed with seeds of oregano so that I can just have a lot of oregano growing and coming back every year in the past I have bought my tomato plants at the store but they don’t always have the kind I want our favorite um is the yellow sun sugar yellow cherry tomatoes but I canot find seeds for those um so the closest I could find was the honeycomb hybrid so I got two packets and I’m going to be starting them inside and then acclimating them to outside and then transplanting them to my garden when they are big enough and when it’s warm enough outside so wish me luck with that experiment I’m going to be trying my best the raised bed that I grew corn in last year I’m also going to try to grow corn in it this year now they don’t recommend that you always grow the same plant in the same spot because it can take all the nutrients from the soil so I have to put new soil and um this is sweet corn that I’m growing so this is corn from last year that I saved and these are packets of the same corn which is sweet corn and I’m planning on having one huge race bed of corn and I’m planning on starting it earlier CU my problem I had last year was I started it too late I’m planning on having some Mammoth sunflowers in some of my first raised beds now Mammoth sunflowers their uh roots go out pretty far and they don’t play well with others so you can’t really plant other plants right by them that much but they’re so beautiful and they’re so fun to grow so I might just grow like six Mammoth sunflowers in a couple of race beds and that’s all also if you grow it in containers um they don’t grow as big and it’s not as fun molds marigolds are a wonderful companion plant um for tomatoes now what I do is I start a bunch from seed I direct sew it outside but it takes like um two months before they bloom so I also get some starter plants of mar Golds and put them between my tomato plants just while we’re waiting for them to bloom right um so yeah here’s some more carrots that I have like these are ones from Dollar Tree in the past this year I haven’t been able to find these ones these are the Scarlet NS or nties I don’t know if I’m pronouncing it WR nties maybe I don’t know um but yeah a couple of big carrots so cilantro uh cilantro is more cold weather plant um so when it gets real hot they tend to bolt and go to flour and Seed but again the bees love the flowers and so it’s awesome and then I save the seeds so I have a whole lot of them um also before it bolts you can harvest the leaves and freeze it and save it to cook with after a bolt you can save the seeds a lot of people crush the seeds and cook with it as a seasoning as well it’s called coriander all right I’ve got container variety basil basil loves hot weather so in the midst of July when it’s 100° outside and all the other plants are suffering basil is flourishing because basil is like give me the sun give me the sun if you have a basil plant that is struggling maybe it needs more sun maybe it’s waiting for warmer weather because if you try to start basil when it’s cold you might not be successful sugar snap peas we love sugar snap peas that’s why I have so many of them I bought them from Dollar Tree and I just empti them into this bag because I’m going to plant so so many of them I have to plant them in early spring and in early fall because uh sugar snap peas die uh the plants die when it gets too hot right they like cooler temperatures not freezing so I’m actually going to direct so um the sugar snap peas in into the garden next to a trellis it has to be on a trellis um I’m going to direct sew at St Patrick’s Day so come St Patrick’s Day I’m going to be planting potatoes and sugar snap peas and probably not much else maybe some lettuce uh because it’s still possibility of freezing weather so most other plants could or would die I’m going to be growing lettuce mostly in containers because I haven’t had as much success in the raised beds as I have with containers and the containers um let us like a little bit more shade they want some sun but not too much um I’m going to be attempting to grow red and yellow bell pepper from seed I saved seeds from last year last year I just had starter plants but in the past I have started pepper plants inside and been successful um so I’m going to do that again this year so I’m mostly starting pepper plants and tomato plants inside ahead of time and then transplanting them because a lot of these other plants don’t transplant well or um just do a lot better if you start them off outside direct sewing outside I’m going to be growing early sweet sugar pie uh pumpkins now I’ve never grown pumpkins before but I have grown squash and if you don’t know a pumpkin is a squash which means it’s going to attract squash bugs so I’m going to be battling those no doubt should be interesting I hate squash bugs but I have a daughter who loves pumpkin spice so I’m growing some early sweet sugar pie um uh pumpkins the reason I picked these ones is because these ones you can grow them on a trellis so I’m going to have them by my trellis so it takes up less space because pumpkins tend to spread out and go everywhere and choke out other plants and they don’t play well with neighbors all right bush beans in my stackable containers from Dollar Tree I’m going to be growing lots and lots of bush beans um it’s G to be awesome okra last year I got one starter plant of okra and it was fun to grow and I discovered okra is really easy to grow so I’m going to try um growing them from seed I’m going to try to start some plants inside and Transplant them outside and if that doesn’t work I’ll also um planting them outside I was really excited to find the same brand of seeds that you find at Dollar Tree I found it at it’s 20 25 cents at Dollar Tree and it was 20 cents at Walmart but you don’t find okra seeds at Dollar Tree and okay I’m not going to need this many seed packets of okra but this was the first time I’ve ever seen okra seeds at the store and the first time I’ve ever seen it for 20 cents so I was like let me just get a lot of it right obviously for my plants probably I’ll be figuring out how to save the seeds but it’s kind of fun all right I’ve got different turnips parsley and radishes now these are good to plant near uh squash plants such as pumpkins because they help a little bit with supposedly warding off the squash bugs also mirold do too uh you’ll get squash bugs anyway but they say those things help right hopefully um so I got some really amazing flower mixes at Walmart um so I think I’m going to dedicate one raised bed to flowers now I’m not a flower Gardener per se I’m a fruit and vegetable Gardener but every fruit and vegetable garden needs pollinators and my kids like flowers and you know what the longer I guard and the more I like flowers too they’re growing on me I’m allergic a little bit to the pollen but that’s okay it’s it’s fun and therapeutic to grow some flowers I’m also going to be having um so I have nine blueberry plants in ground but they’re not doing so great so I’m going to experiment I’m going to get like nine more blueberry plant blueberry bushes and have them in grow bags I already bought the grow bags got the um 5B grow bags they look like um so I’m going to have them in between the blueberry brushes that are in ground so that we can have cross pollination and hopefully we can get some blueberries this year that would be lovely um so yeah planning on doing that and then planning on getting more strawberry plants now strawberry plants you can’t really start from seed very easily I’ve tried I’ve experimented with it but it’s really better to start with some starter plants and they spread from there so you could also get um the strawberry roots and plant those and that can work out sometimes I’m thinking of maybe growing mint now you cannot grow mint in ground or it becomes very invasive and takes over the whole garden so they say everybody in gardening groups say this is a nightmare to get rid of right but it would be fun to grow some mint in a pot I’m going to grow some in a pot away from my raised bed right um I’ve got some other flowers in here like morning glories Cosmos um and zenas and I don’t know I’ve never grown any of those so it should be interesting um I also got some dill uh Dill is good at attracting the butterflies to your garden right let’s see what else we have um I’m going to look through my other seeds these are my other seeds so these ones are the seeds that I’m for sure using but I’m going to look through my other seeds and see what I can add in cuz I was thinking I’d like to grow brussels sprouts oh also I got two bags of this it was $5 each this is natural and organic seed starting mix let me know in the comments if you’ve ever used this before I have not but I thought I would go ahead and get it for starting seeds inside and transplanting them that way they get a good start let me just look through real quick oh the sugar baby watermelon I’m planning on planting so I’m going to just take one packet and add it to what we’re planning on planting this year let look through and see what we’ve got here okay I think these are pole beans one second let me look I think these are pole beans green beans that you grow on pole I’ve got cabbage seeds I don’t know if I want to grow cabbage peanuts was not successful last year I’m not going to mess with it this year rhubarb is an interesting thought should I try for rhubarb I’ll I’ll add it to the stack just in case we got different kinds of tomatoes that I chose not to do this year um we got basil that’s not container variety these are markers U plastic markers I’m going to add those in okay I think I want to buy more pole beans because I am going to have green beans growing on my trellis especially after the sugar sa peas die off but um we’ll see what happens so yeah I definitely want more P beans probably and then um I’m just trying to brainstorm what all I want to get next um I’m planning on having rose bushes in self waterer containers from Dollar Tree that I bought for $5 each blueberry brushes I already said more strawberry plants um and I might do um what’s it called I’m going to do potatoes and and and peas for sure very soon actually um I just rebuilt my trellis I’m going to be building a couple more trellises and setting up a couple new raised beds I’m going to be moving a few pots around in my backyard my kids are going to have a couple of fairy gardens I’m just really excited for all the things that I have that I’m going to be growing this year so anyway thanks so much for watching have a great day bye
