What Happens When You SURFACE LAY potatoes instead of burying them?
what happens when you surface lay potatoes on top of the soil instead of burying them I prepared the bed by fertilizing with some Blood and Bone I then laid the potatoes down evenly spaced on top of the soil about 30 cm apart this time I simply just put mulsh on top of the potatoes I just let the crop grow and then it slowly began to D back around the 3 month Mark what I’m going to do is remove all this msh and hopefully we’ve got a bunch of tubers just sitting on top of the soil as it’s supposed to be apparently look at that looks like a creature what’s my conclusion in this particular experiment I’d have to say for what we put into the bed to what we got out is pretty disappointing would I do this experiment again oh look I’m not sure

Appreciate your experiements via video. So, fat, what method of growing have you found works best? Thx. John 24:14
The rats would get the potatoes here in Florida
Good to know the result.
Love gardening ❤
Don't wash them!
I experimented with whole potatoes snd it was a low production to9
Wouldn't work in windy Wyoming.
Finally someone who is honest about a mistake
You fertilized with blood and bone? I don't think I am hearing you correctly?
You didnt fail. You just discovered the way that it dont work, so that we can learn from you. Thanks for making our job easier.
Surface lay works much better if you remember to leave enough room to burry the new growth. Straw, leaves, mulch.. even shredded paper. More depth equals greater harvest.
Thanks for trying this. I wondered about that myself. ❤ Mow i wont do it.
I've been gardening for decades tho not on this level and a lot of what I've learned is from experimenting and it's fun!!
But did you mound additional mulch onto the plants as they grew?
If you do it 2-3 times, every time they reach about 6-12 inches high, leaving just the top few leaves exposed each time, you'll have a much larger root zone and more spud production.
Que material esse gente… que top. Canteiro assim é top!
Lol
I love that you will experiment, but I think they need light and they get the benefit of all the nutriens from the dirt?
You wash the potatoes? Doesn’t that ruin its shelf life?
Thank you.
Love the closing remark 😆
Cool 😎 potatoes 🥔!!
картофелю слишком жарко и сухо в этой конструкции
Bro you don’t need to plant the entire potato. I don’t even garden and I know this just using common sense.
He's a witch
Keep them out of the sun as much as possible!
Looks like a total waste of time, the experiment was a failure!
Irish person here, yeah I know stereotype and all that but parents grew spuds for sale so grew a hell of a lot of spuds.
Spuds are simple, don't overdo complicate it, better in the ground than raised beds but you do you depending on your own circumstances.
Manure ground over winter prior to setting spuds with top quality farm manure, horse manure or compost and then just prior to setting add high quality fertilizer don't be stingy here, it will pay off.
Plant in drills, or lazy beds when spuds stalks show keep good eye to make sure new spuds aren't exposed to sunlight, if so 'earth up' or pull more earth close to stalks. You can't eat green spuds.
Treat for blight if conditions threaten. Water if stalks flag in hot dry weather. Spuds are thirsty things so give them what they want.
The longer you can leave them grow the better. Lift before first frost. Store in cool dry dark place.
The spuds in this video are planted way too close.
Sometimes wireworms etc can reek havoc, treatable but damage is already done once problem is discovered, otherwise really it's only a question of spraying for blight, and let them do their thing.
Apologies to my countrymen & women who are going mad me for enforcing the stereotype but someone had to grow the spuds in the first place. Gabh mo leat sceil
I was always if you went the wrong youll know not to go that way again
When did wreck it ralph escape 😂
That's a right arm
I strive for this life! It's what keeps me going! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 I've done it before so I know how hard it is too, I love it!! 🥲
Try it again with potatoes that are producing eyes. Leave some in a cabinet like under the sink untill the white eyes start to appear then try it
Does the copper rod in the ground next to plants really make them bigger?
not too smart
Is not the best
And you could cut the cost of planting if you cut the potatoes with a shout eche and it will give you a good crop as if you plant a full potato
Make the bead a foot shallower
When you eat evenly spiced the potatoes are they nice and spicy ?
"Looks like a crEAture" lolol I love it. It's so freaking cute and creepy.
It also almost sounds like you said hayfully, instead of hopefully. Would've been very puny
Im actually glad tou did this, but not thrilled with the outcome. I just watched another video that included this method as an option and got curious. Since youve grow. SO MANY potatoes before, I was hoping that it had turned out well for you.
Welp guess I'll just keep playing in the dirt! 😬😬 digging for potatoes yesterday turned out to be a very beautful thing. I had lost all but one of the potatoes i had from the one plant that grew well, but quickly went bad. This caused me to lose hope in getting any, but Lord be! I took a little over 20 potatoes out of the ground. Not as many as I'd hoped for, but now that i know O can grow them and should water the. So much, I definitely plan to plant more in fall. 😅😊😊
He's precious ❤
