Can I make basil tea from my lemon basil if it's flowering already?
Hey Jess, this is really fantastic, thanks! Would you be willing to do a similar format video on okra? You've inspired me to try growing it for my first time this year (it's my "something lovely", hah!) I've got about a dozen Bowling Red (from Baker Creek, 100% germination rate!) going in soil blocks that are ready to go into the garden. I'm in zone 7b, Vancouver Island, BC.
Anyone else growing okra for the first time?
I try to grow a lot (through maybe not by your definition 😜) of Genovese and lettuce leaf basil. I make lots of pesto which I store in meal sized portions in the freezer for easy pesto pasta. Also, I use walnuts in it rather than pine nuts = cheaper and easier.
I also dry it for use as a dried herb.
Sorry, Jess, IMNSHO, Basil only goes on Mozz Cheese and tomato or in Pesto…. LOL
Pesto!
Fantastic T-shirt❤❤❤
😊❤😊
I like to add a borage leaf to my basil tea! It doesn't change the flavor and I get the added nutrients. Another great drink is Basil Kefir. I have been making water kefir and made some with basil! 🥰 The perfect summer beverage!
I was given a Cinnamon Basil, I let it flower and set seed last year. This year I have lots of plants. It smells amazing.
I'm in UK. I'm sure you must be able to get it in the USA. Recommend 👍👍👍
🌱🌴🌿
Thank you for explaining which basils can be harvested with flowers and which need to stay pruned so they don't flower! I was so confused about that
❤❤
Love the master class style series. I’m inspired to try and grow basil again. 🤞🏼🌱. P.S. Love the Marley shirt. My goddaughter named her daughter Marley after him. The name suits her to a tee.
I was given a purple basil plant, and I've struggled to keep it looking healthy ~ thanks so much!
Tea is it good, my basil always good to waist. I'll have to check it out.
Mine popped up voluntarily all over my garden this year. I only grow Holy Basil and love to make tea thanks to you and Will’s wife. Blessings!
I tucked mine under my tomatoes so they get some shade. And it reminds me to prune both.
I love your channel BUT please stop saying "I bless you". Who are you to bless me? I know you mean well but it is inappropriate for a garden channel. I overlook it because I like everything else about your channel but you might want to rethink the religious anointing of your followers. It is kinda weird… just sayin.
I am having lunch with a glass of Basil Ginger tea while watching this video. Basil tea is so good.
I want to grow lots of basil, but seldom get to use the one I plant. Thank you for this video. Hopeful these tips will enable me to harvest and make Basil tea and basil strawberry Ice cream
Pesto, pesto, pesto! It’s my favorite thing on the plant. I make tons every year and freeze it for the off season. So I have a little piece of summer all year around!
I love basil… I got a purple basil at Home Depot this year but I have genovese and sweet as well. I really want to grow holy basil but I couldn't find a start or seeds. I didn't know you could propagate it so easily and will definitely try that. I will try to dry them as you suggested. I like drying them in the dehydrator too. I think basil tea would be good and I would love to make basil salt… do you have video's how to make them?
