Thanks for growing with us!

Let’s take a walk around the garden and check out what’s new! The edges of the garden have been expanded and cleaned up. We did contract out for help because there was no way we would be able to get everything done ourselves! So much is changing quickly and we are excited to share.

hi everyone I’m Eric and I’m Christopher and we’re grow for me gardening today we’re going to take you on a little spring evening garden stroll to check in on all the work we’ve done we’ve got some edgy things to show [Music] you welcome to our garden it is a beautiful beautiful spring evening a breezy spring evening in case you hear some whoosing on the microphones today right here is the Jane Magnolia it’s such a beautiful specimen right here at the front corner of the house um what I love about this is not just the blooms but the foliage is beautiful you get those big huge leaves and once this is finished blooming we will be taking out some of these smaller branches to create more of a thre stem tree in our area there is one of these Jade Magnolias that’s got to be what 30 40 ft tall it’s such a beautiful sh gge so we’re going to be going in that direction hopefully as we go along you’re going to be seeing some beautiful edges Eric and I did our very best to get as much of this edging done as we could but ultimately we did bring in a little bit of the Professionals for the first time ever I first time ever yes cuz we know that this is what we do as a hobby this is fun it’s not our full-time job so while we were at our full-time jobs we had someone come in and help us out this bed here which is mirrored on the other side side is going to have the four Arbor vites planted in it I think it’s going to be great to start building a bit of the green wall that we’re trying to have in between us and the neighbors this little green thing right here that’s actually a down spout up up spout I don’t know what they call it water comes out pop up water thing that’s actually from PVC piping that goes all the way under the driveway and the uh gutter in between the two garage doors empties out here very very cool then as we get back into the garden with the hopefully the protection of the fence for the breeze you can see beautiful newly expanded beds here on the West Side we’ve been making some plans to rework things um we definitely hadn’t given ourselves enough depth of bed to fully develop this area so now we certainly have enough depth um and it’s going to look really really cool we have some beautiful specimen trees coming in we have some wonderful perennials shrubs and quite a few annuals on the way I’m very very excited to share some oldies but goodies some newbies and along the way we might get to share some in the future new things coming out um the Lilac so close to Blooming so so so close that one it’s pretty purpley right or is it like a pinky purple it’s a traditional purple it it’s a really really pretty one this bed here this was one of the big additions I’m going to have to get used to going up and down a hill now just you know down the hill back up the hill around this bed but we have not made our full plan on this I think we’re going to be taking a lot of it out not the Roses or the trees but we’ll see this is a lot of these perennials are shifting yeah a lot of things are going to shift but ultimately we’ll take you along for the ride on that let’s take a moment and just check out this clean gorgeous Edge on our limelight hydrangea hedge I’m covering my microphone cuz it is very Breezy this evening but this isn’t a full Garden Tour I mean that’s coming up next week where we’ll go plant by plant and it’ll be a really in-depth nice long tour we’re kind of just showing you uh this evening the stuff that that was accomplished in the garden this week because this time of year in Upstate New York things change so quickly like look how much this Diana contorted large has leafed out since our last video it’s incredible we went ahead and buried all of the drip that was in this new garden bed it is looking so great these daffodils are newly blooming I think these are Tahiti right I think they’re Tahiti they look so fantastic I love that one it’s nice and ruffly this bed over here again this was you know we made for the dollas that are growing in the basement it’s not necessarily the Dalia bed that we’re going to keep and like dig out dalas and store them like that’s not our Jam well we are going to have fun with the Dalia seedlings that Christopher started in the basement this grid is set up for success for the future right over here um there’s a new bed it’s probably going to come out this here is part of the new bed um this will probably has to probably get a foot deeper I would think right here and then behind it is a new Dry Creek bed nothing is plantable there it’s a l point we just wanted some pretty stone that once it rains it’ll get all that dust off of it and it’ll just kind of blend in I love I’m really excited to see how that all fits together I know it’s so funny when you see Stone that’s just laid it always has that kind of white khaki color dust on it but this is actually going to match all the stone that’s around the house and it it looks too perfect right now it’ll look more organic and natural as we work with it throughout the season our paper bark maple is one of my favorite trees and we of course had that all carved out these edges have been all carved out um oh something else new this week I was able to get strawberries planted these are Seascape strawberries in our elevated beds and those are the ones that were some of them were overwintered that they were all overwintered oh right right right yeah they were all overwintered um and up here you can [Music] see we’re still in the midst of cleaning stuff obviously but look at our Bonfire Patio Peach Tree in full bloom these aren’t great for eating but they are beautiful for foliage CU that’s a nice dark purpley red foliage which we love and the boxwoods have all been trimmed which is great I’m so happy with them The Fountains have been put together and turned on and does work the Red Buds are all starting to Bud up this area we did some changing around in some of these perennials came out roll doll got moved because you know we added this new bed here we’re calling this the trar bed because of the trumar spruce behind it and roll doll was kind of right smack in the middle and we know that’s not where roll doll is going to live so we move roll doll up there what else I miss anything back here Christopher not too much no look at the lemony Lace Elderberry I it doesn’t even look like the same plan as last week I know look at our look at this our sting AR braiy it did in fact pass away over the winter yeah we transplanted it in the fall then promptly forgot to water it and then deer found it and ate it and it kind of died but uh yeah so that’s the new stuff over in the backyard wait for me wait for for me there’s a lot of exciting stuff look at all of these Pure White daffodils in front of the sublime Sublime hydrangea oh yellow daffodils what did I say you said Pure White pure I was like where whitish yellow show me and then look at there what is this daffodil I need I love that what is this one it looks like a repet right it it’s got like a green part it’s got a pinkish cream part this is the weirdest aidil does anyone know what this is please comment below green backwards pinkish Coral foot I’m fascinated the other thing we added in this week were these eye hooks so that we could run wire here these are Lady of chot roses which are short climbers so they get about 8T tall and that is South that’s North so we want them to come up and like kind of lean this way so we’re gonna maybe tie some of them in so they kind of billow over so while we’re sitting up here we can enjoy the scent kind of encouraging them yeah it’s not it’s nothing that’s going to be hard and fast and official but we wanted to have that option to encourage some long stems but if you just take a moment and soak in the daffodils look at the generous Gardener Rose so much beautiful growth it’s going to go really really fast this will be completely touching the top this year I’m so excited about that the new addition that I added over here or down here Eric if you notice this is that black chicken wire that I had also added a few places in the back it is kind of a silicone coated chicken wire so much softer yeah it doesn’t poke you and rip your hands apart and then we picked up tin snips that were the appropriate size for cutting this gauge and then I put um I made it the correct size and I use landscape staples to hold it in you can’t really see it unless you’re really looking for it but this will keep the bunnies out of the way especially the bunnies that ate the bottom of the Cletus down here by the way Eric I don’t know if you noticed but Betty Corning has gotten about 16 in from the ground she’s doing tremendous so exciting and we haven’t the bunnies haven’t eaten it this year no we we’re going to knock on everything because we are not having the bunny pressure we’ve had in years past I think we will but we’ll do as much as we can to deter them the hydrangea room on both sides really we’ve expanded a little bit you can see this spot in front of the invincibelle Spirit 2 this is looking like what do you think is this perennials is this it’s calling for a drift of something gorgeous I think something gorgeous I mean it’s the entrance to the Garden so I think maybe some annuals there that are Contin blooming like artist blue floss flower yes and we also have the tall tall boy floss flower that I’m growing downstairs oh yeah I do keep thinking about Bobo moving forward but that’s for another another I don’t think about that whole discussion I feel like who can wait for proper spacing right um but see my gosh the these have gotten taller did you notice this Eric yes the Luca Jam these are Lucy the summer snow or summer snowflake I think they’re called I’m obsessed with this flower I think they’re really cute these were newly planted last year and I’m excited that they’re getting a little bit taller and hopefully they just spread and fill this whole area we got to get our bench up over there you got to put that bench together I I am not the putter together he’s really good at supervising putting together stuff this is actually I just got home a little while ago so this is the first time I’m really seeing a lot of this this whole expanded Edge is making me so happy these plants when they’re out of Bloom they need something here so this is an area where we can really think about and they need red foliage there they need red foliage because this is going to be a traditional Green Leaf we’ve got the bluey spikes so we need something in here that’s going to help that effect so probably dark foliage would is going to be best there then we’re going to need something lime here is the matching what are we going to call these the arbor VY walls what do you want to call them I want to call them the green Walls the green Walls so this is the matching green wall they did such a good job with this it’s so nice we already have the three arbites we have another one coming but right behind Eric he’s about to crash into a Spring Grove Arbor this is a pretty big new addition this section here here we’ve combined that front bed with the vanilla strawberry hydrangea right into the Spring Grove the Spring Grove will get quite large in time but in the meantime we don’t have to worry about it too much but how perfect would this spot be for a Pinky Winky Prime I think it’ll be awesome it’ll be so good we’ll have this nice tall accent of the Thin Man Arbor behind it and just a 12T by 12T Hy strange up in time as you can see at the base of all of our roses and hydranges we’ve recently fertilized them with Hol tone because that’s what was on sale at Costco um you can use Holly tone Ros tone flower tone and any kind of tone as long as they get some sort of fertilizer and we’ll do that again in a month or two um again this has all been edged out so nicely nothing will be planted in front of this Catman it gets so big and billowy that we just needed this space between the bed and the grass a little bit the Fire Light tidbits are actually starting to Leaf out which is a little concerning because we do have that freeze coming tomorrow night but I think it’ll be okay because they boom on New wood the Invincible Spirit 2 hydranges look fantastic and the aliums are right behind them alium foliage does get a little obtrusive sometimes um you can see it’s even getting a little like wind uh a little ragged in the wind right now because it is so windy um but it’s going to look beautiful with those big purple flower balls and the foliage of the Invincible Spirit too and I think height-wise it’s going to be perfect because the invincibelle spirit to will bury them once they get full size and then there’s this random tulip that I don’t ever remember this tulip being planted is it purple and white because I remember planting one that had a really funny name a long time ago and it they never came back I don’t know it’s very random it’s the only one um but up here we had additional Stone put up here around the door and you can and it obviously needs to be washed it’s looking very fresh and khaki right now um the containers at the front door are really funny because when I planted them the daffodils were shorter than the Coline but now the daffodils have found themselves and they are officially taller than the Coline so that’s funny um oh wait wait wait buds there’s buds finally on the pansies I know the pansy buds have been a great mystery to us Lely these were all planted from seed the last week of January yeah they’ve been out a long time we updated our light fixture oh you were right last night he said to me I think the light bulbs a little bit crooked light bulb is a little crooked it’s got to be res screwed in um that’s an easy fix this Denim and Lace was removed because we are putting a container here and then we’re putting another container here and here we’re replacing these and they are going to be replaced with the Campana International urbino yes the in Black yes the Nero noola color it’s so pretty I’m really excited for that and that brings us to these containers our spring containers you can see the bulbs are starting to go the pansies still haven’t quite bloomed yet I think the containers are coming next week or the week after right yeah so these really only have another week or two maybe three weeks Max left for them but uh we will be keeping the ovalis in the new containers these arbores these little ones are going to become part of the green wall so it’s probably going to be more like a green knee high wall for a couple of years um but what’s going to be in these is rise up Lilac Day roses as the centerpiece with the ovelis and then annuals around them that’s going to be so pretty those Roses they if they grow as fast as they claim they can grow they will probably almost get to the top of the garage in one year the door the door not not the whole garage just the door did we show them the beot Roses were hoarding no let’s go look at them so over here we’ve been hoarding be root roses waiting so these are the rise of lilac days we got shipped as be roots and then I potted them up in these grow bags with some potting soil just so that they’d have a place to to Lounge yes while they’re waiting these are at last roses we’ve given some away to friends and family um rise up amberes these are the cremas that are going in the Hedge in front of the Dry Creek bed which I think is where we’re going to put Monty I’m pretty sure these are Ringo pink and then these are the also easy peasies that are going in the trumar bed which we should get out there soon yeah they’ll probably go out this weekend these should both get out there very very soon and then on the end are double red and those are going to a good friend’s house who is having a yard makeover that we’re going to take you along for um and I’m really excited to share that with you I can’t believe how Breezy it is tonight I think it’s the cold weather coming in yeah we’re going to be potentially facing a 28 degree night so you might look on Instagram and see um some stuff covered up by Frost cloth maybe we’ll cover it up but I don’t know we’ll be so panicked I don’t know if I’ll have time to like filmm it for Instagram we thought we would end this video by uh getting close and snuggly with the vanderwolf pine behind us it is the hugable pine it is so windy but again I’m Eric and I’m Christopher and we’re grow for me gardening thanks for growing with us [Music] [Music]

  1. May be possible that the violas have received too much fertilizer. Lots of nitrogen can create lots of foliage and inhibit the flower bloom.
You two work very well together, so funny… "I keep thinking Bobo should move forward". Eric: " I don't". 🤣Your garden is going to look spectacular this summer!

  2. I am planning to plant my seed dahlias in one spot (smaller than yours) and I wonder what distance would be the best between plants. 12-18 inches?

  3. I love the dry river bed. You should add it all the way from end to end. since you have that burm. and add a flower bed in front of it with curves. There you can get rid of more lawn hehe.

  4. Goodness you all have been busy!! It s looking very nice, can't wait to see it all mature. Love the smiles and humor, makes me happy .

  5. You have quickly become one of my favorite channels to watch! Always excited when I get the notification for a new video. Love your knowledge, your smiles, your garden style and your kindness! Keep smiling! ❤ 🌸🌻💐

  10. I use to like bunnies until they ate the top of my hostas one year…the more my garden evolved, the more I started to loathe little animals. There I said it. Lol😂

  15. What about Boom Chocolatta Geraniums in front of those hydrangeas? They have nice dark foliage and bloom for a long time.

  16. Love the new edging and dry creek bed! 💚💐 Question: why do you have stones around your foundation? I’m in the south, and I’ve never seen that before!

  17. I always take away something from your videos, I really enjoy your channel. Did you get your Seascape strawberries local or order them? I'd love to add some to my patch.

  18. I just recently found your channel. What I am enjoying is the common theme of tidy and clean regardless if its lawn, flowers, bushes, or gravel. It lets the eye enjoy the absolute abundance of beauty then have a rest as well.

  19. I’m so excited that you extended the beds and have so many new areas to add additional plants!!! My pen and paper are ready to take notes! Mary in 8a

  20. I love having a new video of yours to start my day. I have been trying out your edging technique in my own garden and it makes such a difference!!! Thanks for all the inspiration, smiles and just general encouragement to enjoy our gardens. We had a frost here on Cape Cod too last night, but I hope that may have been the end of it. Happy Spring ❤❤

  21. Chris u had me laughing with White daffodils 😂. Yes Eric a bench in that area will be perfect! Your garden is my dream garden. You have almost everything that I love to plant myself. ❤❤❤

  22. That loan daffodil that you didn’t know the type I have a whole bunch of and it’s called precocious

  23. RIP arborvitae ⚰️ Love your garden walkthroughs.
I just got 2 trellis' from Costco that I'm using to upgrade what I have now. My clematis are outgrowing the ones I have now. SO EXCITED!

  24. With deer issues in your yard pleeeese use Green Giant Arborvitae because the wonderful deer do not eat them.

  25. I love the new clean-cut edged borders. They will give you lots of new planting space. I have a similar daffodil to your mystery daffodil. Mine came from Longfield Gardens. It is called Double Delnashaugh. – Penny

  29. Have you guys had to deal with a neighbor wanting to plant along yr fence on their side yet? How would u handle that?
