  1. Laura! You are an amazing Lady and I admire you so and all your hard work. I will pray your flowers will grow and bloom beautiful for you ❤

  2. If you were to leave more of the tubers together as opposed to dividing them, would you end up with a larger plant?

  3. I find having one person divide, while another writes the name on the tuber, counts and bags each variety, makes the whole thing much more tolerable. Same with planting. Can't believe you did it all and can't wait to see them. Love the posts painted black. I wish they'd come that way. ALWAYS A PLEASURE starting my day and learning with you. Thank you!

  4. After saving all my tubers over winter I ended up with over 150 viable tubers. I legit had room for about 50 but I couldn’t throw them away or find anyone to give them to. I found spots for all of them in an area I wouldn’t normally plant them and the day after they were planted, the chipmunks dug them up. I’m not saving that many this year. It’s so hard to not keep them all!

  5. I separated mine in the fall and wrapped each tuber in plastic wrap. I put all the plastic wrapped tubers in a plastic grocery bag and kept them in a cabinet in the garage over the winter. It was super successful.

  6. Never too many dahlias! I love them! I don't divide every year. Mine stay on the ground in the winter and we have heavy clay soil that keeps moisture yearound. They come up and get huge every year. I divide every 3-4 years. I'm in zone 8a. Last year I divided and even planted the shriveled ones to see if any will come up and to my surprise they did come up.

  7. Boy, so much work! I don't think I will be willing to do all that to be honest. Good for you ! It's going to be absolutely beautiful I know! Blessings 🙏🏻💞

  8. Ah, wonder if I rotted some tubers. Was my first time to try growing them and I don’t think I planted some deep enough and I watered them daily and heavy . I am seeing about 60% showing leaves show up.

  9. Does the body size any indication of the size of the bloom? Love all your videos, I've learned SO much from you! Thank you!

  10. Looks like a big chore that creates a beautiful return! Can you please explain this…if a plant is a Zone 8, what does that mean for higher and lower growing zones? For example, can you keep zone 8 tubers in the ground for higher zones, but not the lower zones? It’s confusing to me…Also, do these require a cold storage time? I garden in zone 9B in humid filled Houston, Texas.

  11. Thank you, Laura, for making this video. I know this was an enormous amount of effort. Dahlias are a LOT of work. You marked the names on the tubers, identified the eyes and plantedthem nicely. I don’t blame you for not being too fussy about them and growing fewer and fewer each year, especially in a climate where you have to dig them up.

I live in zone 10, in Southern California, in the desert. Dahlias are native to Mexico. I figured no big deal, right? I could overwinter them in the ground.

Recently, I read that they take an enormous amount of water. Now I’m worried because I live in the desert. Had I known beforehand, I would have passed on them altogether. Now that I’ve gone down that rabbit hole, I have two rows of 6” drip tubing per row of plants. Am I to run the drip system for 60 minutes 4 times per week and more in hot weather? Really? How much water is one inch per plant? I had no idea they were not drought tolerant. Should I add water storing crystals for water conservation? How deep should I mulch? Does the mulch attract bugs like earwigs? How do I keep the bugs down? I am reading that they can’t be supplementally watered with a hose because they absorb water slowly. Help!

I am going to wait and see what happens this season but I’m probably going to be more careful choosing plants in the future.

  12. I think Laura and Aaron for that fact are natural born teachers!! One of the reasons I have been with y’all from the beginning is bc you explain things in such an UNCOMPLICATED way. It makes the process seem doable for rookies and fun to learn. I learn something new every video I watch!! BLESS YOU AND FAMILY FOR THAT🙏🏻💝😇😇😇😇

  13. Ohhh man I need a bigger dahlia bad like yours!!! You’re such an inspiration! Quick question… what type of string are you using to tie the dahlias? I had some twine last year and the weather kept making it snap. Also what’s your favorite dahlia??? Thanks for all that you do for us!!! ❤

  14. wow, that's a lot of work, lol… they are gorgeous though! Samantha playing in the vermiculite: she is a "texture" girl, and i get it… so cute.. and Benjamin came out to help, too, so good to see the kids in and out and getting involved, even if for just a bit.. i do like the black t-posts, too… so much work but will be so worth it in a few weeks' time… ps… i keep trying to click the 'like' button but it fades out and i can't tell if it's showing up or not, but of course i liked it! 🥰❤thanks for the video!! 🥰❤
