Thanks for growing with us!
Annuals are the best way to add color to your landscape and containers that will continue all season. Today we are sharing the way we are adding annuals to the front of our house. We are using purple and yellow varieties from @ProvenWinnersYouTube to stick with our color theme.

hi everyone I’m Eric and I’m Christopher and we’re grow for me gardening today we’re going to add season long color to the front of our house with annuals Welcome to our garden in zone 5B 6A in Upstate New York we have been hard at work getting our perennials in check getting our shrubs in check getting our trees in check but the crowning glory of the season because it provides color upon color uponor color month after month are the annuals and we love to add annuals to the front of our home to ensure that there is color through every month of Summer the first thing you might notice is that I went through the front of this border and I added artist blue floss flower we’ve used this in the front of our house for a couple years in a row now but we normally only had a few of them over here by the we white hydranges this year we actually had the edge of uh the front border moved up a little bit and as it’s been expanded we were able to put all of these lovely floss flower in you’ll notice they’re perfectly perfectly spaced that is actually not because I’m a wizard at planting but I used a drip tube that had emitter holes every 12 in so I was able to perfectly space them so they will look good all season long they’re actually looking really nice right now up against the double play Blue kazoo spia starting to send out its little white bloom Eric I don’t know if you can do a backwards jog right now a backwards jog let’s go let’s go we’ll do a backwards jog I just a few minutes ago actually planted another new annual for us here in the front bed that we kind of call the electrical box bed or whatever you want to call it on the side here these are the campfire marshmallow bidens that will get just a nice little puffy cloud of these happy white flowers with the yellow centers to them they look a little bit you know worse for wear of course freshly watered in freshly watered in but what a nice cheery pop to the front corner and that’s actually the first thing you’re going to see when you come to our house up here we also have a purple fountain grass we don’t have a perennial grass with dark purple or red foliage in our gardening zone but to us it’s worth it to get this annual grass every year because it brings that dark foliage that we need to contrast that blue of the blue kazoo the green of the wi white hydrangea the chartreuse of the Fire Light tidbits it just brings that nice weight and pop right there which I really like but come on up here Christopher I recently planted up it’s going to get a little echoey with me in here um in these Planters these are our shade Planters and this is a new Noir colus solenia Bonia which can be sun to shade it’s a really nice yellow flower pink shy lamium and a nice chartreuse colius and they mirror each other here and then down here in our head Planters I just went ahead and repeated that pink sh lamium and they sell it as an annual in our garden centers but it’s actually perennial for us so it works out really well we can take it and put it in the ground when we’re done on our agenda today though is to put the finishing touches on these containers this is the urbino container from Campana International in n noovo and it’s a nice black finish they are cast stone so they are nice and solid we have the decor wow Garden Obelisk it’s 24 in in here this because this lip is so thick is I think 26 in wide right CH it’s something like 26 in and in the center which is going to be the centerpiece for the whole season is rise up lilac days rise up lilac days Rose I learned recently that it is pronounced lilac and not lilac oh I did not know this yes lilac days so underplanting with yellow and purple to continue the theme that we have in the back this year as we’ve been talking about our theme of purple and yellow revolves heavily around these two plants this is mini Vista Indigo and supertunia saffron Finch we’ve got this sort of multicolored deep into go flower that Fades to a cooler kind of like perrywinkle bluish and then kind of to a white color then we also have the super Junia saffron Finch which you can see starts out with this sunny yellow and the margins do Fade a little bit to a white so it’s a really really beautiful combination that we’ve been repeating all over the place so this will definitely be happening in the container ooh we’re starting to get the bugs out we then are adding in two textural elements I would say we have luscious Royale P colada Lantana this is again it’s got the whites and the yellows kind of in this by color effect that changes over time and then we’re pairing that with super tunia I’m sorry super beina sparkling amethyst it has this combination of whites with the amethyst purple and I feel like it will give us a really awesome texture contrast with the saffron Finch super tunia and the mini Vista Indigo that will change over time and the colors will really meld and I think it’s going to look beautiful knowing that our container has eight segments we are going to just simply Place one in each segment it’s pretty easy way to keep your planting organized I’ve got the seven plants lined up around the trellis and the reason why we Chang it from eight to seven is because the eighth spot is the direct back and nobody would see it and it’s up against the siding so it’s really as easy as going ahead and removing the tags first cuz that really keeps it easy to not have them flop all over the place when you’re going to plant and these are Eco Grande pots and that means that they are compostable Christopher come on pretty close here I’m just going to push this soil with my hands I don’t even need like a TR or anything like that um but I am going to leave a thin layer between the container and the root ball of the plant how’s that look that looks like a good spot and then you turn it upside down you give it a little squeeze inev these are a little tougher to use but they’re so much better for the environment that it’s totally worth it and then in goes the first plant and toss that off screen so you won’t see the mess that I am making and then I’m just going to go around and plant every plant so this is the P colada Lantana right yes I really like that one we we popped that into a container last year it was something that we saw at the Garden Center we’d never seen it there before and gave it a shot it worked out really well too it’s a nice color I’m a fan of like a soft Sun subtle yellow and not necessarily a bold intense yellow these are a little dry I let these get too dry today in the heat Christopher uh-oh so they’re going to really enjoy being in here and getting watered in we’ve been taking really good care of them but I guess I slacked off a little bit today nah it’s all right all right I’m going to cross in front of you while he’s doing that take a look at how buted up we are on this Rose yes these were bare root roses can you believe it I’m very impressed at how quickly they’re growing and how healthy they are look at all those roots and you know what just like with our garden and minute grids in the back having these here makes placement so much easier don’t you agree yeah it just keeps everything organized it really does you know exactly how far apart to make things just putting some soil between the plant root ball and the side of the container definitely let dry out too much they’re going to look great in the morning and I’m just tucking in making sure that the entire root ball is covered one more on this side I haven’t encountered any Rose Roots yet so they must be way down there that’s one thing I’m not too worried about is space in this container I think they’re going to be perfectly fine I do think that they’re going to be very um robust in this container because they’re going to be really hot in this container being black and on the south side of the house this container is going to like Bo heat up and hold the heat so I think the heat loving annuals like Lantana and verbina are going to be extremely happy I did triple check the sizing of rise up lilac days cuz I know at some point people said that they had upped the sizing but they haven’t on the website I’m looking at I’m Proven Winners it’s still supposed to be about 5T tall which is big but this is a lot of garage door so yeah we got to cover it up yeah I feel like it’s it’s totally fine and then this is the last Super tunia saffron Finch and it’s perfect we have these in here cuz it’s super tunia summer did you know that Christopher it is super tunia summer let me get this in here this is everybody in this poor little guy is so dehydrated um everybody’s in everybody’s planted and now Christopher and I are going to work on the next two [Music] over here on the side of our house we have recently installed a vgo hose reel now what makes vgo different than other hose reils on the market for us is the length because we need the length and vgo hose reils come in 100t length and 130t length but the difference with the 100t length is it’s high flow we have had 100t lengths in the past um that we really liked and did very well for us but the flow wasn’t quite as high as we would have liked so that’s kind of changed with this one what I did for installation is I just cut off the top of a 2×4 or 4×4 in the ground and I put a nipple in a flange and dropped the vgo hose in and so far I’ve been really happy with it and I got to say I agree it’s been really really nice to have a hose reel that provides enough water the last one we had it it just never got there and so I’m just going to start on on this end water these annuals in and it comes with quick connects and the what is this called the nozzle the nozzle the spray nozzle it comes with a spray nozzle you know it’s got everything covered so watering this in is not only going to you know hydrate the animals it’s also going to settle the soil and close up any air pockets that might be left behind Eric do you think we’ll have to top up the soil at some point or is this going to be pretty good um not on the ones I planted oh I we started this with pretty full containers so I don’t think so the thing about these quarts is when you go to plant them you can just kind of push the soil to the side and then they’re fine you know what I mean mhm and then I like to give the container a little rinse in case dirt dribble down on it cuz you know see yeah and then I’m going to water these the little the extras for just in case oh the other cool thing about this one with the Quick Connect is I can turn it off here and then I can turn it off here and switch out that’s nice and then I can turn this on and I got regular hose he almost got me can you try the jet on this funny any little spot of yeah I don’t know what’s happening here what is this it’s not happening with any of the other containers oh it comes right up with the jet yeah in case you’ve been wondering what all this is we don’t know either it almost looks like a rust I wonder if it has something to do with the finish of the inside of the container I don’t know yeah I don’t know I bet we can power wash it and it’ll come up I mean as long as it it breaking up that easily that makes me think it’s not a staining issue and even if it is it’s just the dryway it gets resealed every year go you know it’ll be fine but this container is going to be blowing up I mean it is these are huge vigorous plants and I think that’s part of the reason why I really wanted these obelisks in it was to give it that structure that it needs I agree I like the way the obelis kind of ground the rose so the rose doesn’t just kind of flail around but also doesn’t need an obelisk but we can also like tie it to the obisk if we want to if we find the Ros is getting too wild we can tie it in last urbino um we did do an unboxing video of these urbino containers and those are really exciting day it was a lot of fun it was raining there were 2200 lb of concrete Planters to unbox it was a lot of fun yeah not not just these there were other things too in it so if you want to check that video out it is on our channel to see the unboxing so if you do order yourselves some of these cast stone containers they do come on shipping pets right yes and that’s what it’s called and they are so worth it like we had plastic containers here for a couple of years and we liked them but they they weren’t a forever container yeah and the bottoms were Hollow and they would blow over in the wind if they were too topheavy there we go we have our annuals for the season at the front of the house for all season long color before we leave you today I did want to point out we forgot to mention there were ageratums over here too mirroring the other side so again thank you for joining us today I’m Eric and I’m Christopher and we’re grow for me gardening thanks for growing with us

Ooo 😮 I have always pronounced it "Lilock" and thought I was saying it wrong because I keep hearing all the American youtubers saying "Lilack" 😅. Just this weekend I mentioned it to my husband that I think I'm saying it wrong and I kept trying to say "Lilack" but it was so hard to say 😅.
Loving the new containers from Campania ❤! I’ve added the large circle trellis (obelisk) to both of my garage door containers and love the whimsy of the thrillers, fillers, and spillers popping through!
Beautiful home very very beautiful garden nice video thank you for sharing support from your new subscriber ❤😊😊
Nice container and great addition.
What?! Who is that just Willy nilly throwing empty containers off camera. What did you do with the real Eric?😂😂😂.
Great job as always guys!😎👍❤️❤️
You are so nice, I love your channel!
You two are great….thanks for another video!
Looks great guys! Earlier this spring I did some research on the PW compostable containers as quite a few of the annuals I purchased were in them. On their website it says the products the Eco+Grande pots are made of contain nutrients (nitrogen and phosphorus I believe) that are released directly to the root of the plant, improving their performance. Yet I haven’t seen any content creators who work with/for PW actually plant them the way they are recommending. Thoughts on that?
Hey guys, love your videos. IMHO, if you put the head planters on pedestals to the outside of your steps, it would open up that space a bit more.
Your home and gardens are so beautiful 😍
Hi guys, I'm in upstate NY (in West Henrietta). Great videos.
If everyone would just like the video and comment it will really help their channel grow 😊
Your garden is beautiful. I can't wait to see it as it develops through the season.😊
That electrical box disappeared 👌. Garden looks so good 😍
Looking spectacular!❤️🌺🍀🤗
Those pots are expensive.
Thank you for being so transparent on which projects need to still be accomplished in your garden. I am new to the gardening game and I am learning through you and many others. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), we don’t have a lot of ‘fun spending money’. The lack of money is making me pace myself and my projects. I am able to make seasonal note, research plants and draw up plans for the future.
Beautiful ‼️
Beautiful! I can’t wait to see the new pots when the roses are blooming.
As always just wonderful!
Last year I bought a Hoselink hose, and I cemented a 1 inch metal pipe in the ground and dropped it in there. I also installed another pipe in the backyard with the plan of buying another hose this year, I really need the longer hose so though I will give Vego a try BUT donuts think VEGO could be installed on the 1 inch metal pipe?
Beautiful home👍🏽❤️❤️❤️
In Canada. Lilac has always been pronounced “li-lock. thought is was from the British pronounciation
I love the purple and yellow. It may be because I am from Louisiana and that our LSU colors. But everything is beautiful you guys.
Flowers are very pretty. Love the hose pull over the shoulder, that’s exactly how I do it for my retractable hose.
💙🪴👍🏻🪴💙
That tree in front of your Vego hosereel is stunning 🤩.
Looks beautiful… visiting Phoenix the sun and heat are no joke. My plants are getting lots of rain back in Virginia.❤❤
Beautiful colour combo☀️
Beautiful pots
Randomly found your video and right away I knew balance is the key design in your garden. The tall thin tree in the front by your door should also be planted right of that window. Talk about both beauty and balance. .
Gorgeous!!

Beautiful combos and colors! 💐 the climber is growing 😊.Beautiful front gardens🐝🌱💚thanks C.& E.
I know you have probably said it previous videos, but somehow I😊 missed it. What is the new color of your front door? Gorgeous.
Love these annual combos – do you order directly from Proven Winners? I’m not easily finding a wide selection of PW annuals. Thanks again for a great video!
I have been thinking of purchasing a hoselink hose real, why do you prefer the vego?
Khuôn viên ngôi nhà đầy hoa ,cảm ơn bạn đã chia sẻ để mọi người cùng thưởng chiêm ngưỡng .
Those containers are going to be stunning! Great choices!🇨🇦👏🇨🇦
