We put our money where our mouth is guys and we are buying local beef that does not have any antibiotics hormones or anything ugly in it. We are preparing for what could be a rough hurricane season. We got a good deal on some beef and we are canning everything we can you should too.

I don’t know as I get older I guess your tast Chang good afternoon everyone Jill here with North Texas vegetable gardening canning recipes a little bit of everything did y’all see all that so today was opening day for our Market there was a squash bug and I just squashed it and we did really good we sold out of tomatoes um at a little after noon and U we’ll be opening back up tomorrow cuz we have more that need to be picked but they need a little bit more ripening but uh we did a thing this week we’re preparing for what could be um a rough hurricane year and uh and I think you all need to as well so initial estimates coming out from many sources that we’re going to have and above average hurricane year it could get quite deadly uh quite harried and uh and so we wanted to put um put some of our our thoughts to the test and maybe put our money where our mouth is because we always tout by local and you guys need to support your local farms you need to support your local ranches and there’s some deals to be had out there and I’ll tell you about what we got here in just a sec but I wanted to give you an update on this little high tunnel you can see things are going Gonzo I’m having blossom in right on my squash so need to hand pollinate and Greg added some cow mag yesterday to it um it’s all this all this damp air guys this humidity and uh some of the rain and the water even though they’re protected in here it stays a little more damp whenever it rains outside so yeah we are are busy busy so we invested in some local beef guys that are fed regeneratively just like us and get a load of Our tomato Harvest so far guys we have just been picking all week they are beautiful they are tasting wonderfully and boy it paid off to get things in the ground early I don’t know as I get older I guess your taste changes a good afternoon everyone Jill here with North Texas vegetable gardening canning recipes a little bit of everything did y’all see all that so today was opening day for our Market there was a squash bug and I just squashed it and we did really good we sold out of tomatoes um at a little after noon and we’ll be opening back up tomorrow cuz we have more that need to be picked but they need a little bit more ripening but uh we did a thing this week we’re preparing for what could be um a rough hurricane year and uh and I think you all need to as well tomato Harvest so far guys we have just been picking all week they are beautiful they are tasting wonderfully and boy it paid off to get things in the ground early woo we we got a load and we have a lot more out there so the plants are doing pretty good again we’ve been battling spider Ms but Greg thinks he has it under control back Acres looking good so again we put our money where our mouth is and we invested in some beef uh the company that we used is out of Glenrose Texas and then they have a facility up in Rome which is north of us they’re women-owned Farmers so happy to use them um and anyway it is called uh Liberty veterans Meats I believe and I go check them out guys we got a super good deal we got steak and hamburger meat um we got a lot of bones in fact I’m making some bone broth right now but we got bones for the dogs cuz when it thunders and Lightnings we give them a bone and man that just settles them down real quick we got uh some roast we got some pork chops bacon sausage we got a little bit of everything now some of that’s going to be canned up and uh other up we’ll keep in the big chest freezer that we can keep going in the event we lose electricity we’ve got that battery backup uh generator and we’ve got um a normal generator so we could certainly keep our food safe if we had to um we’re hoping it don’t come to that but you know they they are just screaming that this hurricane season is going going to be pretty volatile so you guys need to um start getting ready for that and it’s not only them I’m seeing over in Europe believe it or not that they are saying you need to have 3 days of food and water and this was like 10 different news stories yesterday I went to look it up to see if it was another one of those that somebody’s harping on but no it looks like they’re they’re preparing for something is it war or is it something else I don’t know but here our FEMA and everything is saying uh about 3 days worth of food and water as well but you know we we go on the premise that we probably need to have about a week or two and we need to have enough for our family for my children and for my grandson um we want to make sure that we have enough food stocked up and you know guys you know that I can guys so I’ve got you know lots of meats that I canned last year and I’ve got green beans that I canned last year I’m hoping to get some more uh start canning I picked my first batch of green beans last week made a big old pot we ate off of it all week so good uh pick some green beans this morning so I’ll be canning and right now uh with my riped tomatoes we don’t waste anything my over ripened Tomatoes I’m fixing to make um 12 jars of salsa so don’t waste guys if you’ve got um a load of tomatoes that you need to use up or don’t let them go to waste can them up freeze them blanch them and freeze them uh freeze them some people freeze them with the skins on and they say the Skins come off much easier uh but I prefer the blanching method and then I can them up but there’s all kinds of ways to save your Tomatoes but you guys really want to kind of get prepared a little bit for maybe a rough starting in June hurricane season um coming up so June is just right around the corner can y’all believe that we’re almost halfway through this year I’m just hoping that these summer months go by just as quick as the winter months did cuz I am not looking forward to the Heat and Greg is back there working on my pool and he’s getting that filled up so I’ll have some temperature repri because we our heat index is going to bump 100 today they say um not sure if that’s the case but we will see right now we’re Han need J he’s hot right now um we see that uh you see that it’s very cloudy here and so we don’t know if we’re going to get to that but once the Sun comes out it’s going to heat up very very quickly and the humidity here is very high as well so I wanted to give you guys an update show you what was going on show you the tomatoes that came in tell you to get ready get prepared make sure you have um enough food to last you guys and water especially and if you do freeze drying like we do just remember you have to have water uh for that for those products and for that food that you have set back and um and don’t let anything go to waste in your garden if you can’t eat it and it’s starting to U over Wen Can it can it up can up your green beans can up your Tomatoes uh make sure that you’re preserving all of your Harvest as much as you can and uh consider I know it’s a it’s a big chunk me and Greg talked about it and decided that we wanted to go ahead and get uh this beef from this company number one because they use the regenerative uh method they feed their they rotate their cows and their bulls between pastures that are chowing down on regenerative food we love that idea and we are so happy to find someone local that does that but uh yeah and uh we think it’s going to be a hedge for inflation as well because we did they gave us a really really super deal we got quite a bit of quite a bit of meat uh for the price that we paid so anyway wanted to give you guys an update say hi I love you all and I’ve got to get out there there’s nobody here stop she thought I was saying hi to somebody I got to get in there and make some salsa um and get those Tomatoes processed and then tomorrow morning we will be setting back up for day two of our Farmers Market love you all see you soon take care hit subscribe give us a thumbs up guys pass this information around see you soon

I've been praying for the whole dang country—and the world, come to that! We are ALL in a heap of danger it seems like to me. Hubby and I are little more than "hobbyist" gardeners. We got all our seeds and starts into the ground on Monday of this week (Ohio here) and that's a good feeling. We're Blessed in this area with multiple local farmer markets and more than one organic garden businesses who grow enough to sell. Thank you for encouraging and teaching people to grow more food as well as to preserve it!
Was thinking about you this morning Jill and up comes your post, lol. Gotta love that. Know you're a busy, busy bee right now. Super hot and humid this past week with ambient temps already hitting 100, here we go again. Enjoying a humble harvest of my one and only container of bush tomatoes, a 1st. I confess almost jumping up and down! Also strawberries, yay! So good to see your. beautiful harvest, what a blessing. Wishing everyone success with their efforts this year. Hugs Jill, Greg, Pops!
Please (as Jill said) have a generator that you can run your refrigerator & freezers in case of a long power outage due to a hurricane or whatever. We bought a small generator at Sam’s that can run on gas or on propane. My husband liked it so much, that he went back & bought another one. We bought a quarter of a cow from a local rancher, & I don’t want to lose any of that meat. 🥩 ❤
Beautiful, great job!
Those Cherokee purple's look good!
What do you do when zucchini is blooming but not putting squash on?
🧡💗💞
Your tomatoes 🍅 look great! Praying for everyone that might be affected by the hurricanes this year 🙏
I sure hope not, I've got too many friends I worry about in Texas right now with weather like that..
Everything looks great! Most definitely need to prepare. Eden enjoyed meeting you guys. You and Greg are awesome people! So glad we can follow your gardening practices to learn regenerative farming.
I'm in Houston and I wish I had a local farmer I most definitely would buy from them. I love fresh vegetables.
Those tomatoes!!!😋🥰 Gorgeous! 🙏😘
What a great opening day! So happy for y'all! Everything is finally planted here except my sweet potatoes–those come next week. I am also worried about hurricane season. We had the remnants of Tropical Storm Irene hit us in 2011 and it absolutely crippled the state. Even the more recent 'excessive rainfall events' have done lots of damage. Hurricanes have come thru here, so better to be prepared just in case. Have a wonderful weekend!
WOW, your tomatoes are incredible. I'm STILL waiting. They are just dragging their feet. But, soon. Ya know one thing I hear a LOT is "I hope not" when talking weather. if you have listened to Mark Sudduth very long, he says OFTEN Hope is not a planning tool. We need to do the best that we can. Do ALL that we can and then lean on hope. We are getting 4 weeks ready. But, that is not stopping me from continuing to prepare. Being ready is peace of mind, continuing the process, adds to that. And then, as you said– THE COST…Don't get me started. 😠🤐 …….😆
If there are onions in the salsa recipe does that mean it needs to be pressure canned instead of water bathed?
I used your chicken bone broth recipe and it turned out the best I’ve ever made. I never knew to use onion skins and now I save and freeze them for this purpose. Thank you!
I just tried looking up liberty veterans meats and couldn't find anything on it. Would you have a phone number for them? I would greatly appreciate it.
I live just north of Houston, 1 mile from where Harvey dumped 50 inches of rain. We are so tired of it. Winds high today, pines slapping the lines and knocking out the power. We pack the freezer in Winter and eat it down in Summer so little left for hurricane to take away.
The weather here in central Texas is already brutal. It’s still May and we are at 100 degrees with high humidity but still no rain. Growing more bugs than food.
Lol. Name 1 politician that can get a state up and running in 3 days besides Ron DeSantis? After a Hurricane? Might want to make that 2 weeks worth of stuff minimum. Lol
Just be aware! They’ve changed a whole lot of the shipping routes in the Atlantic Ocean so there’s not as much smoke from the ships as there use to be, so the sun is going to heat up the waters and cause much more convection of the ocean than it has in the past few years. That will cause more hurricanes. It’s by design folks. They have to come up with ways to destroy the cities along the coasts to move people into the cities inland to create 15 minute cities to control us.
Please give us a beef report, after eating a steak. You know. I'm Texan. Lol
I bought once from an organic farm near Brenham. Worse steak of my life! They must have had those cows on a treadmill. No marbling!
Yes, Jill. I'm down just 30 miles north of Corpus christi and we were hit head on by Harvey several years ago. We've been "prepping" as well. Praying there isn't any really bad one's that come our way. Blessings.
I don’t know about the rest of yall, but I keep enough empty jars and propane to can up anything in my freezers! I’ll keep stocking water and canning everything I can. I also save every single bone. Chicken wings, steak bones, rib bones, duck bones, etc… I throw them into a freezer bag and when I get 2 full gallon sized ones full, I make broth. Sometimes I add some chicken feet or more meatier chunk of something, but not always and it makes wonderful broth. ❤🙏🏼
I can't find wind chimes where I live. They always have them every year. Philadelphia?
You guys are SO good at this. Great job!
FEMA is mafia commie’s, fyi we really are living two different realities half the people know everything the other half keep their head buried in the sand.🤷♀️
For those with a freeze dryer you can save the tomato peels and turn them in to tomato powder
Keep going! Stay safe! You guys are doing great!
All I am hearing is get prepared! It's
It's 8:33 just good sense.
Your tomatoes are beautiful. I can't wait for my first tomato sandwich ! Praying for our country.!
Impressive job, Jill! You two work harder than most folks I know and it shows in your harvest!! Beware of the news. Fear is what they love to stoke and the state of mind they intend to keep us in. Don't get me wrong, I believe in preparing for whatever they throw our way!

wow, my tomato transplants have just been planted
I'm not looking forward to this summer a bit . I've been preparing for a few weeks now , but not enough . And it's already so hot and humid in southeast Houston.
I really don't know what went wrong with my tomato harvest. No pest I can recall or know . But near lost all .
I got plenty of farms around me , and I could purchase from them, but who in this earth could afford the prices, tho !? A ole chicken for $20.00 bucks !?
Sometimes, I wonder.
I'm praying for the best . No storms Lord .🙏🏻
Please God protect her and her home and her garden from hurricane. Cover them under the shelter of Your wings. In Jesus name amen
