  1. Only reason I know to WET the cardboard is if you're not immediately covering it with compost, leaves, etc… to keep it from blowing away! Same with using newspaper.

  2. Good morning from idaho I was watching your video this morning like I do every morning but I was also playing a game the part where laura sneeze and Aaron said gross omg super funny!!!😂

  3. The Nutsedge we also Collett nut grass also makes seeds at the top if you don’t get them out, so not only are they spreading underground they are also spreading seed. They are terrible. I sit down out there in the garden and worked all morning with a little trowel and tried really hard to get the nuts. How the ground sometimes you just can’t get them they break off. I’m trying weed fabric, but already Bermuda has come up.

  4. I wet the cardboard first so that it sticks to the ground a bit otherwise sometimes it can go flying if the layer of soil on top is not that thick.

  5. I have trouble with purple sedge and regular sedge in my zone nine central Florida garden. Yes SG is a bear to get rid of because of its growth habit. And even more of a problem because I use a mowing service that does many lawns. I have resorted to using BASAGRAN sedge Control.

  6. Northern Cali here and we got way more rain, due to Gov seeding the clouds, and my Plum Tree lost all it's blooms while my Peach Tree did not.

  7. I went to a sprinkler supply store, and they set me up with the WORST system! I ended up pulling it out and going with home depot supplies!

  8. Laura
I love your attitude. Yes it's very exhausting worrying about things you can't do anything about. I'm like you I will not let things in can't do anything about ruin my day. But what if there's someone always yelling the sky is falling. Aaron's quote. I try not to let it bother me. That's why I enjoy watching your very positive videos. It starts my day in a happy place. So I will watch every day.
    Thank you
    ❤❤❤❤

  9. I love using cardboard. We had a Tornado last night. Not us or our kids or grandkids, a town over from us about 10 miles, tore the whole main street up old buildings that have been there since the town was established. Salina ok.was one of first towns in Oklahoma and Claremore, Oklahoma. It was a bad one. Killed 2 people. They really need lots of Prayers. Im Salina there is power lines down all over the place and also gas leaks. People saw one man just sucked up and carried away. I dont know if they have found his body yet. God Bless all the people that has be affected by this horrible, horrible Tornado. Great recap. Absolutely love to watch it every Sunday.

  10. 12:40 p.m. on the MS Gulf Coast. For the prize for the winner of the competition, the loser could cook the winner one of their (winner) favorite meals!!! Absolutely love your videos!!

  11. We made a 15×35 ish garden bed with many layers of paper similar to the cardboard idea. We added 3 in of compost and 3 in of mulch. We planted that year but did not go through the paper. Since then we just added compost and mulch year. Easy instant garden. Can’t wait to beg DH to help me with more flower beds soon!

  12. After seeing your moms terraced hill wouldn’t that be nice on the slope on the new property. So pretty to look at 😍

  13. I feel your pain on the orchard, I haave a few citrus and we have had quite a bit of wind here, and all my oranges are gone, and half of the lemons..My grapefruit seems to be ok though…I hate when that happens. Will you ever show the new basketball hoops?

  14. I can relate in a small way with your orchard. My 40+ tomato seedlings were horrible looking this year (I'm blaming the soil because all my other hundreds of seedlings were great) a part of me hoped they would just outright die so I would have to go buy some new one. But then of course I wouldn't be able to have the specialty varieties. They pulled thru enough and sre planted and I'm hoping they thrive now.

  15. In the end, you said "Hope you're having a great start to the week" and that gave me a joy!
I've been overdoing it with gardening working and trying to take care of my mom that just stopped driving. And for some reason my knee gave out. Like I can't even walk. I can move my muscles I can move the joint but I can't put pressure on it. And I always say when something like this happens to other people that God's trying to tell them something. Now what's God trying to tell me. But thank you for the inspiration and that one small statement. Because I always see Sunday as the end of the week. But it's truly the start.

  16. What a bummer to lose your fruit in the orchard for this year, but's great that you can have such a great outlook about that!

  17. I am so grateful to see how well you two rebound after disappointments and CHOOSE to look for new opportunities! Such inspirational life choices!❤❤❤

  18. I think the 'rachatottawa' is Rach at Ottawa. My guess is it is a Rachel who lives in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Ottawa is the capitol city of Canada located in the province of Ontario.

  19. I’m sorry to hear about all your fruit trees. Two of my patio peach trees got nipped by one cold night. It was ready to leaf out and it all got frozen in time. Is there a way to save them? Will they come back next year? Or are they a complete loss? No more new growth at all.

  20. Aaron is so right about the NEVER use landscape fabric with mulch!! What a mess and a waste of time & $$ – and you still have the rotten WEEDS to contend with!!
