This micrograft is no longer micro. Seems a little stunted and I think it might be time to get it on its own roots, which are already growing. I'm wondering if it would be better to cut it off the pere or just bury it all the way up so that the roots can reach the soil. Has anyone tried that?

I often cut off the pere leaves and bury up to the base of the scion. If you leave it as is, eventually the scion roots will reach the soil and take off. You could also degraft, but it won’t grow anywhere near as fast on its own roots until they are fully established which can take a few months. Lots of options, there is no right or wrong path.

You couldnt ask for a better time to degraft!! The scion already has roots so nothing can go wrong given you do a clean surgery on it. If it was mine I would cut away the pere, let callus for a week and to a long term pot it goes

  3. Take 3 more peres and spike-graft them all to it!
