  1. Such grace when handling snarky judgy comments and insults!!! You are amazing!!! Wise kind and yet fun!!! Amazing!!!

  2. I had to google what a mature London plane tree looks like and they are quite beautiful, I would imagine it will take 100 years to reach full size though?

  3. It's unfortunate the sumacs are taking over everything because last fall they were glorious. I couldn't believe how great they looked. I know you don't have the time to constantly go in and dig out the spreading roots. I don't either. Maybe someone is working on a sumac that does not spread. Wouldn't that be great.

  4. I think crossing plant species naturally is one thing, but taking a few genes from one species and introducing them to another is a step too far. Mushrooms (fungi) to petunias (plant) is an example of why do it? just because we can or it would look neat is not a good reason. Plants are already amazing with the genetics with hybrids and duplicating genomes on their own.

  5. Happy Mother’s Day, Laura! Darker colors absorb UV rays, which helps block them from your skin. That's why dark blue, black, and dark red are the best colors for sun protection compared to white or pastel colors of the same fabric. Laura, you wear as many black blouses you like! We all look forward to Aaron’s plant descriptions, Monica’s backyard update, your mom’s landscaping around her new addition, and you two tempting us with what you have planned for your piece of heaven!

  6. My fantasy garden would be one that I never have to think about snakes! Here, it's second nature to NEVER put your hands where you can't see first & to prod things with a very long stick before carefully moving them. Don’t step where you can't see & getting careless or complacent has high consequences. I hate them & mosquitoes! PlAcE iN ThE eCoSyStEm 🙄

  7. So many thing I've learned since I found your channel! *I don't have to have a perfect plan before I try something. If it doesn't work, I can change it. *I enjoy discovering what makes me happy and what works in my garden rather than copying someone else's style. *I've learned what to look for when deciding what to spend money on rather than buying something just because it's pretty. I've had much more survive as a result. *succulents are no longer scary. *I started growing a lot more perennials (mostly from seed) and gained more patience, with less work. *I'm able to recognize SO many more plants when I go to a nursery, and have a much better idea of how they grow and how to take care of them (even though I'm in the hot and humid south with lots and lots of rain). *Thanks for staying true to yourselves!

  8. I absolutely love my hose link. It definitely fades in our hot summer sun. I have had mine several years and the fading is pretty evident however it is well worth having one.

  9. It is very strange that butterfly bush is not invasive in my area because a ton of things are. I live in Louisiana.

  10. Just FYI, I ALWAYS wear black clothing. I’m not a dark minded person, I love gardening yet black in my California garden is just a bit too hot. I’m with you other than that, black is an easy to match and a no brainer choice.

  11. Happy Mother's Day. A true Mother's Day moment in your re-cap video, when Benjamin entered the studio both of you lit up and showed all your attention to him. ( melt my heart.) You all know what you are doing with nature and gardening, but, this type of interaction with your family and friends that makes me adore you all. Happy Mother's Day!

  12. We had a huge evergreen hedge with small grape size fruit (edible, but not that tasty) when we lived in San Diego. They would make the best maze, but would have to be trimmed regularly to keep them to size. I've always wanted an easy maze with a Rose Garden and sitting area in the middle.

  13. Thank you! I planted a sumac last Fall…. It’s already gone. Went right out there! I’m already dealing with Vinca, bittersweet, and some strange thing I think is sorrel that came in on a rose. I couldn’t take another thing!

  14. I would absolutely love for Aaron to do a video on what feelings the plants give 😂❤️ I do the same thing and it’s honestly just a fun thing to share.

Love all your videos and insights! But most of all, I love that you guys share about the process and making this space your own. Thank you ❤

  15. Love your recap videos. Happy Mother’s Day to you and your mom 😊🌺🌸🌼

  16. It might be interesting to plant smaller young Lindens and see if they stall like those bigger more mature Lindens have…I noticed those looong leaders too. I expect a 3 year stall on bigger trees but id be impatient by now too. I'm watching to see if you cut those wild hairs off the Lindens. Lindens have been heavily planted in Minneapolis to replace the many many Ash trees we have lost to emerald ash beetles in the state. Lindens though have a very dense shade and as you see are slow growers though they hold that vase shape as they grow.

  17. I wonder since you guys are so arid a climate that, to Aaron’s point, the majority of the roots are forced to go down. Maybe in areas where water is slower to drain or a higher water table they go out for more oxygen ?

  18. Laura I dare you to wear one of Aaron’s plaid shirts for a video and throw off the naysayers of your black shirts!! 😂

  19. I love Aaron's feelings toward artemesia. There is a Powys Castle variety which speaks to me as my sister and I stayed at a B&B at Powys Castle, Wales in 1994. Plants do invoke personal memories. 🥰
