Is Echinopsis spachiana (golden torch) any good as graft stock (fast growth for the scion)?

Pros and cons imo. I’ve had more grafts get pushed off by the faster growing spach vascular ring than PC or grandi. Also, spach on its own still grows and multiplies pretty quickly, so you can keep a constant supply of grafting stock coming.

I like it cuz I got a box for an amazing price, and it seems to work just as well as pc stock for myself. Haven’t done any head to head compassions or anything, but just based off general observations it gets the job done well with a cheaper price tag. I bought 6 of them last spring, I still have 3 growing without doing anything to them and they’ve gone from around 12-14” cuttings to waist high within the last year. May-November outdoors and November-May indoors. I’ll be hardening them off for outdoor growth either this week or next, and plan on shopping and propping to get more stock and to do a few grafts once they get adjusted.

So for myself they’re probably my number one pick, unless I can find a big bulk box of something else for a similar price or cheaper. The blooms are gorgeous too, so that’s another big plus.
