How often does the graft stock start pupping before the scions, in your experience? I recently bought 2 clone cuttings, from 2 different people, using 2 different graft stock. While both have pupped, its out of the graft stock not the scion, both within 2/3 days of being in my grow tent. One is is the rooting process, the other was just potted and is waiting for its first feeding but pupped. I'm sure it's the photosynthesis, but how common is this? I know it happens, but makes me feel like im 0-2 on graft purchases.

New grafter here: I have two loph-SP grafts that I have done and both are pupping, loph still very green which shows growth, I was told to let them be so I’ll monitor the growth myself but that said I think it’s fine. I get the transfer of energy and all, so may but them off when can propagate them. My lophs were 4-5 years old and hadn’t grown in that entire time so I’m just happy they are showing something now
That’s not uncommon for grafting stock to pup. I cut off the pups on the grafting stock to redirect energy to the scion.
