Hey guys! We are getting a cement pad by my house, so they’re ripping out tons of beautiful grass. Would it be stupid to try the “transplant” method and try to use all that grass and patch it all here? My dog mad a “dog run” with the neighbors dog by the fence. There also used to be a playset with a slide and swing we chopped down when we moved here three years ago. So it has wood chips and the black weed barrier. (Grass wasn’t established here) We dug it all out and now want to grow grass and use a plastic fence to block off my dog. (He’s a golden retriever and very well trained. He won’t go over there if the fence is there! Very well behaved boy)

Here are my thoughts:

  1. Buy a plastic fence from Lowe’s and block the area.

  2. Dig up this area really well so the grass can establish its roots. Dig Deep into the soil prior and lay some top soil and fertilizer and water really well.

  3. Use a Transfer Shovel and roll the grass and put into a wheel barrel and lay it in these spots! AND LOTS AND LOTS OF WATER.

Thoughts? Am I crazy? Husband says let’s just lay some grass seed but why waste our expensive grass seed when we’re throwing a ton of beautiful earth waste/gorgeous grass anyway?? Might as well transplant it!

Do it. Plugs are much easier to deal with than seed
