Bonjour Mosseurs,
Sorry for the pun. I’m normally in the more in the cacti and xeriscape scene but recently found the world of moss very fascinating. But I think I got it all it all wrong with this attempt. I’m here to learn:
This is a plate with no drainage. At the bottom, I had a layer of gravel. Then a piece of landscape fabric (porous) over it. Above that, I chucked in a few horticultural charcoal pieces and then some soil mixed with soil wetters. Topped off with scoria. I mist sprayed it daily. Sometimes a few times a day. It sits indoor on my desk with a LED lamp over it.
After a few days, I noticed some salt like deposits that kept appearing. The mosses stayed green for a week or so but never took on. Started yellowing after 2 weeks and then I stopped watering. Now it’s dried but I’m keen to try again.
How should I do this differently?
