Personally, I’m all about tatsoi – a near-perfect substitute for spinach in hot climates like Florida. If you're already growing Okrah the leaves are an edible green. There are some varieties grown just for the leaf greens.
I was able to grow spinach in grow bags in winter, the grow bags can be moved into a semi shady spot. They do take longer to grow than say lettuce though.
We grow tatami in Hawai’i. Delish!
Spinach grows here in my garden central Florida. But only Jan Feb and beginning of March. Plant a lot!!
