Hey guys from the thoughtful Gardener while I am just back from the Northwest Flower and Garden Show in Seattle and wow wow if you’ve never been to this show I encourage you next year to put it on your calendars it is the largest garden show in America and I was
Speaking there and it was just a really fantastic time uh first of all Seattle itself has some really incredible Gardens we’re going to cover that in a later video but what we’re going to be talking about today are some of the things that I saw that I think you could
Incorporate in your own garden and the first is this incredible Garden where it’s got a beautiful colorcoded seating area now I don’t know about you but I think this yellow lemon colored carpet with the chair and table is so inviting and it seems to be that this is going to
Be a color for 2024 so I’m really excited about incorporating color especially for people like me where where color is lacking this time of year what a great thing to do to have something in the garden that looks really colorful the second thing here is
Dress forms now I have seen a ton of dress forms in design this one was with fresh flowers and it looked really really cute this would be great for a bridle shower or a baby shower uh but what a fun way to display a bunch of flowers so definitely think a dress form
Is in my future because I’m seeing a lot of inspiration out there using flowers this way the next was this cart that doubled as a plant shop hello where have I been this whole time a food truck that’s a plant truck I need this this
Would be so much fun to sell plants from and completely irresistible if I was at a show to buy plants from plus boy is that easy when you’re done you just pack it up and go I think it’s a really great idea I love this idea this was just
Unbelievable there was a really cool Market at this show for reused Garden items now this is a really fun one where they had taken plants and a woman’s form and made her into like a plant goddess what a welcoming thing into this market so I loved that great job guys I’m sure
It took a ton of time to make it look as beautiful as it did but it deserved an award in and of itself it was awesome seeds as screens yes that is the case these are all seed pods and if you’re interested to know a little bit more about those
Seed pods the probo cidia lutea or Devil’s claw was used to make that and they are hooked together and I just couldn’t get over how creative this is not only to dry those seat pods but then to hang them artfully such they became almost like a seethrough screen that is
Just is such a cool idea I absolutely love it the center pod actually reminds me a lot of a milkweed pod uh but uh that it has these little claws they’ve turned into a really cool way to hook them and make them like a screen how fun
Brads that were also variegated I saw a lot of variegated plants at this show and that’s a really interesting way for color because Brads while they bloom for a long time there’s a long time that it’s just foliage and a lot of people get very frustrated by the fact that
Some of these plants uh don’t look very pretty when they’re not flowering I actually think this foliage is more attractive than the flower personally so I think it’s kind of cool and uh I thought that for those of you who are indoor Growers or maybe tropical uh and
Have the ability to put these outside this would be a full fun addition to the Garden look at all these spring bulbs there were also some pelor and um other types of blooming plants in this this particular collection but what I also found fun about this one is that they
Had flowering trees and then they had some things that looked like trees but were actually sculpture that were brightly colored it’s a really good use of color and I think it’s really interesting so certainly too when you’re waiting for those bulbs to pop up you
Have a little bit of color in the garden and something to think about are you sick of tulips shed and tropical plants uh this was a orchid lovers Delight I’m going to show you two two uh different views of this particular stand uh I’m definitely recording this for a friend
Of mine named Judith who is a collector of orchids but I wanted to say about that that you know orchids are really very special each one requires uh a lot of opportunity to learn because each one requires different things that they like and so um recently I went to the Hershey
Uh Orchid Society show got to listen to the different ones and the things they like so really important if you got one of those for Valentine’s Day that you go and look online and understand what kind of conditions so that you can get it to bloom again which is really the um goal
Here uh this was an award winner and I will tell you it was a fan favorite at the show but a lot of times we put a little tiny fairy garden in this whole thing was a fairy garden how much fun is that and uh lots of little places where
The fairies lived including the bottom of the trees had doors and so forth so this was really fun and Whimsical and obviously garnered all the childhood fun and for all of us but reminded us to uh leave room for the fairies because certainly that’s where they dance is in
The gardens right uh definitely fun for the kids of all ages so I hope next year if you get a chance that you will book some time in your calendar to go to Seattle I will say that we got really super lucky one day it was extremely
Sunny and warm outside so it did leave the garden for a while but that gave me a chance to see some of the gardens in Seattle so I’m going to actually do another video on that if you like what we’ve shown you here please subscribe but you can help this channel grow by
Letting other people know that you liked it by putting a comment below tell us what you liked maybe what you didn’t and maybe we’ll do something special for you just next time have a great day and Garden thoughtfully take care
