How would you go about harvesting and keeping this indoors?
I have so much moss that grows close to my home and am thinking about growing a terrarium, but I have no idea how to do it or how to keep it alive. Any advice would me much appreciated!!
Take a small portion from the middle of the patch so that it can regrow. Soak in water for a while and maybe diluted hydrogen peroxide to eliminate pests/hitchhikers. Store over (dead) moist sphagnum moss in a container with a lid
Hozokauh
Go for it!! I literally did the same thing about 2 weeks ago. I yoinked some moss and dirt from the yard. I just put some river rocks at the bottom for water retention. Gave it a couple sprays with a spray bottle and it’s been doing fabulous.
I watched this video before hand but didn’t use any of the expensive products (if it grows on the dirt outside, it’ll grow on the same dirt in a jar loll)

Rather than going for a single big contiguous clump, take smaller portions from various places and it’ll fill back in quicker.
