So i had a massive double headed lithops that was splitting. I grew this one outside, and inside the crevice (mysteriously) had black gunk and worms and eggs. I didn’t want to smell it, but i quickly (and reluctantly) used an xacto knife to cut away the outer leaves. Luckily the rot was just starting, and the inside babies were firm. Anyways, i used the cut off parts as mulch/fertiliser. Definitely looks like fleshy plant meat.😐

    Some sort of parasite?
I’ve seen one juvenile slug on my outdoor lithops once. It chewed through a small chunk. I got rid of it and haven’t see one since.

Have had the same and it’s only ever happened with a lithops that had been overly watered and fertilized by the grower to make it bigger and look “nice.”

ETA – gnats probably laid eggs in the moisture of the outer leaves…that’s what happened with mine.
