Looking to graft a good tip of a columnar cactus. Thought this could be good rootstock. Thanks.

    Slow grower, not good rootstock

    Look for small grandi hybrids, even the ones with flowers glued on top have served me well in the past lol.

    Golden Barrel cacti, and other “barrel” type cacti which grow in more a sphere shape rather than a column, like San Pedro, are VERY slow growing. As such, they aren’t the best rootstock. They also pup like crazy if you cut the top off.

    That and it being a pain in the ass to cut like another redditor commented
