  1. I thought they say the WORSE thing you can do to your fruit tree is PRUNE it in the RAIN. Rain can spread disease.

  2. Hi Kaye. 1st I'd get those guys a ladder. 2nd all sucker shoots which grow straight up need to be cut. Cherry grows suckers every which way. Apples & pears grow up. Keep the interior limbs from crossing. They will fruit nicely. Grafting is an art. 3 plums on one tree is a sight & taste to behold. If you can, keep a trough for watering at the base. Good luck m'southern lovely.❤🎉

  3. I remember seeing your home on Zillow when you bought it and the owner had some hives about where your compost containers are now. You ought to check around to see if anyone wants to put a couple of hives at your place.

  4. Your property is so beautiful 😍 I've gotten pretty good at pruning since having an orchard ☺ it's fun to watch your trees grow up under your care, lol. They are like children ❤

  5. Lovely to see you out in your yard this morning and sharing all the pruning tips you got. My late father had one of those long pruning sticks which had the cord on one side. I loved it. We pruned an apricot tree at a house I rented for just over a year. The first summer was awful as the tree had never been pruned, there were apricots, as well as rotten apricots everywhere which brought huge swarms of wasps. I was working full time and not much interested in “homesteading” at that point. I miss working in a “yard” … living in a condo keeps the stray kitties from finding me but doesn’t offer much in really getting my hands dirty. My first husband went by my parent’s old family home about a year after they passed. He searched for me as he knew from just the way that our old house and yard looked that my parents had either moved or something else had happened. It’s kind of in my blood to have dirt under my nails at the end of the day although you deal with yard bugs better than me! Much love, Jules

  6. So much to learn about having an orchard and how to get the maximum production out of it. Do you have enough netting to cover your trees once they start fruiting? Homestead so beautiful even in the rain..

  7. We have had about 1-2" of snow here in our NW AZ community twice in the last week. Woke up to an inch this AM. The California mess has moved on. I've done my grape vine pruning and have garlic and nothing else growing. Will start cole crop and celery and lettuces as indoor seedlings in South window countertop (larger window lots of light) and no artificial light. Tomatoes a bit later and the rest in ground outdoors later. Have to be alert for any surviving grasshoppers which may or may not be present. Your homestead's orchard and vineyard will provide years of great tasty fruits for you Kaye. I recommend a pole to harvest as I tore my Rotator Cuff picking pears here 3-1/2 years ago because of reaching overhead to get a fat juicy pear.

  8. Great video! Thanks Kaye Im an old school “late bloomer” 😊 from the once beautiful state of CA now refugee in the deep south. Your property is beautiful!

  9. Many say, "thank you for your service" to soldiers, who have signed up to advance the elite's agenda. "Thank you for your service" should, instead, be said when one meets a farmer.

  10. Really enjoyed watching the process. Now I know that I am pruning my trees correctly…….but my blackberries are a mess! Thanks, Kaye, for recording in the rain!
