Stick along with me and go on the this journey of learning to Garden learning to um Farm I don’t have a lot of animals over here but I do have a few and I may be getting more um but I want to start off this new

Year now on this channel by taking you along the Journey of starting your seeds and the things that you would need to get if you’re thinking about growing your garden G because with everything that’s happening out here in the world and if you follow me on my other channel

You know that that I cover the news that you can use with everything that’s happening and over here I want to show you how you can become more um self-sufficient and not just self-sufficient but as my friends at iig farm would say grace sufficient because

We want to take the S out of it once you get yourself to a point where your cup is flowing and the over flow is coming you want to be able to give back okay it’s not just about what you can do for your family but what you can do to help

Others um and over here I’m trying to um show you that so I hope you stick around hit that like button because it does help us get in the YouTube algorithm as this is a new channel pretty much and it’s hard to get out there to others so

That does help and sharing in and leaving lots of comments lots of tips because like I said I’ve only been gardening since 2020 so there’s a lot that I still have to learn um there’s a lot that I have acquired in knowledge um I’ve had success I’ve had failures when

It comes to gardening and also when it comes to homesteading and growing your own meat animals um because when you have livestock what comes with livestock sometimes is dead stock um and I hate to say it like that but it is so um I did butcher my own meat rabbits by

Myself um last year so that was scary but exciting because it was a new thing we have already done our own meat chickens before and butchering those but I actually did that by myself and then my my husband came in at the end um because I want him to experience it as

Well he was on the road in the mountains of North Carolina and we are doing this Homestead basically from scratch um we’re kind of on rule land even though I have houses around me I sit on almost an acre so you can grow in small spaces you don’t need a lot of

Space to grow you can grow in buckets you can do all of those things and I hope that you will’ll decide that you want to grow your own food and possibly raise your own meat animals um even if it’s just backyard chickens and you want to do it

For egg layers and you just want to get eggs from them all you need is two chickens and a little bit of space so I’m going to turn you around I’m ashamed to show you this room those of you who are not new to my channel you know that

This is my sun room and this is where I start my seeds at I use it as a greenhouse um for spring summer fall starting of my seeds uh but it’s in shambles right now I’m going have to do a lot of cleaning in here before I can even get started so

That’s why I’m starting now on January 12th in getting this organized so when I flip this around no judgment okay no judgment Because by the time I start actually planting here and when I say planting know your Zone that is good to know like right now I’m in 7 A/B zone

I’m coming from 8A in South Carolina so we had a longer growing season but shorter growing season here that being said you can’t just go by the zones because you and I both could be in 7 a but our temperatures are different because we’re in different areas because

The area is expansive so with that go off of your county that you’re in um or the city that you’re in so that way you’ll know typical things that grow well where you are when you should be starting them when your first frost date is and when your last frost date is

Right now and that changes every year because because they change it up so right now mine is saying my last frost date is April 6th last year was a little bit further back so what I like to do is start my seeds at least 8 to 12 weeks ahead of

Time of me putting them out from that last frost date and don’t always go by that frost date that’s just an estimated dat go off of your own common sense is it too cold outside for you you to put little starts out there okay so and also when you’re starting your seeds having

The right seed starting mix lighting is important because when that seedling breaks through the soil you want it to be hit with a heavy light and just using regular sunlight will not do um it’ll take longer so I hope you go through this process with me and get your items

Together we’re going to go to stores we’re going to see all the things that you can get from different stores and the prices before we even get started that way you can go on your own and go off with some of the things I showed you

In different stores that I’m going to go to whether it’s Lowe’s Home Depot Walmart Dollar General Dollar Tree all those places sell things that you can start your seeds grow your your plants and have a healthy garden so that’s what we’re going to do here on this channel

Again again hit that like button this is my and I need to water it but this is my pineapple that I’m trying to grow um it’s going slow because I don’t water it as often as I need to and I really do need to get back into getting that stuff done don’t even

Look at my dirty pool out there okay but this was so small and all I did was I bought a pineapple to juice because occasionally I juice and you just cut the top off or you break the top off you put it in a cup with water like this one here

Which I need to add water too but it’s still good and then the roots grow out this is the top of the and then the roots grow out like this so I’m going to add water to that um and eventually it takes time your pineapple will start to grow and

It’ll start growing right up in this area here so that’s just something I’m working on as well and then this is usually my typically my growing station here which I have to get it together you see I already have some cups out with

Some um soil in it so I don’t have to do the soil I’ve already done my soil but I’m going to go over it with you what I used and stuff but I started something and I didn’t finish it and I I said in 2024 I don’t

Want to do that so I’m going to get started back I did these yesterday and they were already pretty much dried out just sitting here these are um bell pepper seeds so you don’t always have to buy seeds from the store although that is good to do

And have a stock pile of them because you never know you know when things might break out in the World um and you want to be able to grow your own food so now I’m about to head outside and take care of my egg layers and my

Rabbits I actually am supposed to be cleaning my rabbit um cages out but it’s about to rain we’re expecting at least 76% rain today and it’s supposed to be storming raining and I should have got out earlier but I didn’t because I had to sit down and start mentally getting

Myself in that mindset of this is what I need to do this is my sun room right here that we were just in and I have like um a little sitting area underneath we don’t use it as much I do have my grill there and stuff um like I said we

Are renovating this ’90s um home here and it’s been going slow um we also have uh well I don’t go to the other Homestead that my husband bought uh part of the land with his dad with we were going to do animals there but sometimes you

Know when you want to do things one way and somebody want to do St another way anyway long story short we’re not doing Animals there at least I’m not doing any animals there um but we do my husband does go up there and help when he can

Which is not often cuz he be on the road working so I’m going flip you around and show you um my layout out here and hopefully uh future plans which I have to really talk to my husband about before is concrete but I’m just giving you what I’m thinking right now okay so

This is all of our property we’re not going to build all of this up into one thing I do want to do before summer is over is we got to move this chicken Coupe which I got from track the supply um I have a video on that on my

Other channel I think I’m going to screen record it and put it on this channel so you can see us putting it up um but this Coupe and run we want to move over here um this is our garden when we first moved here um 21

2021 the only thing that was out here was this area right here all of this we did we we built this up we along with God cuz I don’t know how we got through it um but we built this up um I had a vision of how I

Wanted it I drew it out on paper so if it’s something you’re thinking about you want I’m a visual person so I had to put it on paper and I’m not the best drawer but I knew what I wanted and so then I had to let my husband know what I wanted

And then he added what he wanted to add which some beds here but last year we only grew tomatoes down here we did have tomatoes in some of the beds here excuse me I’m still getting over being in that rain on um Tuesday so but

This year cuz I didn’t have a lot of flowers and I want a lot flowers um I’m going to alternate every other bed as being a actual flower bed and it may be a flower bed that I can then dehydrate and turn those into oils um or

Teas so that’s the plan for 2024 every other bed will be a flower bed um not sure if I’m going to keep these outside beds I may keep them and try growing my onions in them again they they didn’t do well at first but then like soon as all

The cold hit they you know started growing but then uh we had a really bad storm and I think it destroyed a lot of them but we have to figure out where we want to grow our watermelon and stuff because we didn’t do well with that they started

Growing late in the year but I don’t really want to do them in the bed because you need space when it comes to melons because they just really Branch out I will be growing in buckets this year when it comes to my potatoes I grew them

In these two beds here this one and that one and they did okay but they didn’t do as well as they did the year before when I grew them in actual buckets so you you really going to have to test out and see what works best for you um and I I will

Have my buckets lined up probably down this row here that way I can Vine them up on here and then the other one in the middle will be where I do my cucumbers and those will Vine up and then the last one down there on the end right before my compost bed

There that one will be um probably sugar snap peas out here showing you guys yeah they got food some food in here I’ll put a little bit more in there so y’all yeah I got four eggs in here so I’mma come back and get those and then all of this stuff over

Here is stuff that we need to take to the landfill I use my um my black truck now as like a work truck and then these are my rabbits I have um I had more um I had two extra rabbits but um I got rid of them so the red ones

Is but I have Peter and I have Luke and I have I have faith that I can um maybe breathe them again in the spring I only breed this is my first time breeding them last year because they were too young but this is my first time and it

Really because they’re very nosy they’ll come in here so now what I’m going to do you see I have wood shavings in here I only change this out with the seasons so summer spring fall winter I do a change on the coupe and the run and I’ve

Already done one for winter so I just keep adding to build up the compost and little go in my now with the chickens you can’t use it right away but with the rabbit manure you can and this also help keep them warm as well as keep your eggs

Clean and you would think that seven chickens cuz I have seven and these are the same seven I had for for a while now people keep asking me are you going to get more chickens and I’m like you know I think I I just got to you know create an area

Where the babies can be in there with them and they get used to them because there is a pecking order because you cannot just dump more chickens in with your other chickens they are very territorial they’re little dinosaurs okay so this going to keep my eggs cleaner than they are they they’re

Pretty good right now but these will keep them cleaner cuz when chickens sleep they poop they they poop all the time and then this will also keep them warm and they keep knocking The Roost this Roost bar down so I just leave it out I still forget it they can Roost in the [Applause] Run The rain is starting to come down I hear it hitting the ground so you just take this piece off right here that holds the water and it just gravity Feeds out and so you don’t lose this piece you just put it here you can hear the rain hitting the

Tart one of the best things you can do for your family is to start a garden get your seeds figure out what you’re going to grow where you’re going to grow it how you’re going to grow it and get busy doing that you don’t have to have a

Garden bed you can use buckets like you see the white buckets right there just do something because relying on someone else is giving them Control I watch you as you drive do you know I’m looking and I can’t help but smile do you know how much I love you you put my favorite song on I put my feet up and we just sing along and I can’t help but feeling just loving this moment
