Hey all – just experimenting with some mossariums and had a question about biodiversity in my newest one. I added springtails to help balance the mold that started but this morning I saw several, what looked to me, predator mites. I assume they’ll be snacking on my springtails, and I’m not necessarily concerned with the mites themselves. Just looking to learn more about balance and biodiversity when creating terrariums using locally found flora. Any tips and comments are appreciated! I’m having a lot of fun

I believe those are just soil mites. They won’t hurt the springtails but they compete for the same resources a bit. I have them in one of my springtails cultures and it hasn’t impacted the springtail population.
