Bought this lithops because they looked like butts, having very little knowledge of lithops. I thought I had killed it and gave up on it, just ignored it in a sunny window. Turns out that’s exactly what it wanted!

The new growth just looks different than other pictures I’ve seen of the splitting phase. Is this okay? I haven’t watered it in a long time and it is in a southeast facing window, gets good morning sun.

I have also learned now that I don’t have it in appropriate substrate. Is there a time of year or time of the life cycle where it is best to repot?

TIA!

  1. It needs a ton more light and the terrarium it is in is not good for lithops and you already know about the way to organic soil.

Look up Ashley Glassman on YouTube for good info… no need to water for now… you do need to switch out the soil for something very gritty. You can repot anytime to my knowledge but be very gentle with the root system. A pot with a drainage hole is needed. Also… they are stretching so they need more light.

    Yay, twins!!
