I know it’s in the wrong kind of substrate. 1 bought it on a whim and I haven’t been able to get the proper stuff for it. He was looking nice and plump for the first 2 or 3ish weeks of having him. Then I panicked after seeing spider mites starting to form (l lost most of my plant collection last year to a big infestation), treated him and now he’s looking like this. When you press on the top it feels kinda concave. I’m not sure if that’s due to him splitting soon or if he’d slowly dying. Should I just let him chill like this to see what happens?
Thanks in advance!

So it does look like it’s splitting and not dying. They can look like they’re dying when they’re actually splitting. And the outer leaves do get soft/wrinkly when they’re being absorbed.
You already know the substrate is bad for it so my only suggestion is to make sure you get a pot that’s the appropriate size. It seems much too small in the photo (but I could be wrong). With lithops the depth of the pot really matters because their roots get long. The general guide is at least 4 inches deep.
