Yard vs garden
In German, the property you own surrounding your house is your garden. But in American English, we say ‘yard.’ ‘Garden’ only refers to the part where you plant flowers or vegetables. The part in the back is called the backyard.
Examples:
(Of a child) I’m going to go play in the backyard.
Your yard is so big! I’m jealous.
Let’s talk about yard versus Garden so in German the land or the property surrounding your house is your garden but in English the land surrounding your house is your yard and if it’s behind your house it’s the backyard and if it’s in front of your house it’s the front yard so that’s an
American English I believe in British English you do still say Garden but in American English garden would be a special part of the land where you grow flowers or vegetables okay let’s look at some examples so a child might say I’m going to go play in the backyard or your yard
