Hey friends welcome to Gardening with Creekside today I am going to practice what I have been preaching to you we’re going to talk about the plans that we have here for the signature Garden
In 2024 planting season is only going to be just a few short months away is going to be here before we know it so I have been planning and thinking of this space for quite a while so I want to share
Those plans with you today so of course here we are standing at um what will be the entrance to the signature g Garden don’t fret my little pets we are going to have a nice pathway a walkway a
Little foot bridge over I know some of you have been concerned about that um but here is going to be the entrance to the signature Garden um and so we have these two gorgeous raised beds BMS
Elevated Gardens whatever you want to call them on each side of the the entryway they are the exact same size this whole whole entire um formal space of the signature Garden is very uh balanced
It is very even and so we’re going to focus on this area first and then we will transition to the outling flower beds of the signature Garden still part of the signature Garden but they are
Going to be a little bit more um natural relaxed kind of in that classic Creek Side style of the planting we do where you can see these River Rocks there is this is to catch water because
Of course we talk about nothing is flat here at Creek Side so this is like a Dry Creek bed where water can go through and then be channeled out you were with us just was that it’s not even been
Maybe not even a month ago uh the beginning of December where we planted all of these in tulips so this is the super collider blend which is a bright red bright yellow and then a Deep Purple we’re going to have a beautiful spring here so everything from the boxwoods down to the rocks
Are those super collider blend of tulips now this summer as soon as the Tulips are done and we have them pulled out it will be close to being time to put in the summer plantings we have planned
That we are going to do a mass planting on this side of both of the beds the super tunia Vista jasberry it is the annual of the Year from Proven Winners so we are just going to have a huge impact
Of jazzberry basically at maturity it will be kissing the boxwoods and it will be overhanging the Rocks a bit I’m thinking what we will do is we will do a double row that is just staggered that
Way we have great coverage and they will just fill in and be stunning so when you’re coming in and you first see the signature Garden you’re going to have just a huge mass planting of that Vista jazzberry all along right here that is one of those key components is when you are wanting
To grab people’s attention especially from a distance do that monoculture planting meaning mono meaning one culture plant you’re doing the same plant in Mass it is going to make a huge statement and grab people’s attention as we come down this year we have of course the Sprinter box
Woods and then we have little lime punches right here at maturity and how we’re going to develop these Gardens is that the sprinters will grow um and we will maintain them as a hedge so they will
Be a solid hedge coming through nice and manicured and then the little lime punches will get that 3 to 5T tall and wide so at maturity the hydranges will be kissing the boxwoods that’s going to take
A couple of years really about three years of course to get to your more uh maximum size but so what we’ll do this coming year is we’re going to plant an annual down the center I do not want
An annual that’s going to take up too much room I don’t want it to come over and crowd my boxwoods or crowd my hydranges and impede their growth so I’m not going to do like a colus I’m GNA do
Something more petite whether it maybe is like the unplugged pink Salvia or um the angelonia like the angel face Wedgewood blue would be absolutely beautiful right here so something that is more upright and not very wide then on the front side this is where Jenny gets to play and have tons
Of fun because the front side of these elevated Gardens from the um hydrangeas kissing the edge of the wall and they’ll both be planted the same is I’m going to choose somewhere around that you know five to seven to nine uh different types of plants and create a mixed planting so those beautiful
Annuals um I’m definitely going to be using some saffron fch I can almost guarantee that there will be some uh of the superbena Pink Cashmere will be in there um maybe we do some selenia Bonas a colus
A grass right maybe I do Skyrocket grass all sorts of different fun ideas caladiums right so I will pick my anywhere from five to nine plants that I’m going to use and then I will plant those and
Repeat that same pattern all the way down through both flower beds that way when you’re looking at it from a distance it’s cohesive it’s balanced but yet it’s interesting it’s not just one plant in Mass like we’re doing on the other side to grab people’s attention so for me that’s the fun part
And it could be that it is more of a bit of a game time decision as I see how the plants are growing and developing um and that’s just something that fun that we do uh a little update as you can see
The saw that we put down man it’s doing great it might be even time getting close to be for a little uh a little trim a a little haircut what we’re going to do is cuz I know people everybody
That’s a great thing about gardening there’s all different aspects right people are curious about how we’re going to maintain the grass we will have we’re going to get a push mower and the mower will either we’re going to mulch it bag it because clearly we don’t want a lot of grass clippings
To be thrown into the flower beds and then we will come back and we are maintaining we’re going to start first see how this works and we’re going to maintain our edges with like the trimmer we do not have any metal edging stone edging anything that is keeping these hard lines we
Are going to maintain that first because even if you put metal edging down you still got to come back with the trimmer and like clean it up so that’s what we’re going to do at some point maybe
We want to change who knows but sod is doing great all of the shrubs and the perennials they too are doing quite nicely we just got an absolute Deluge of water in what 36 hours we got seven inches of
Rain my rain gauge seven inches of rain and it was not clearly it was not a slow and steady rain it came down in torrential downpours so everything is doing quite nicely but you can see we still have
Some water right here so that kind of gives us an idea of how water is flowing and how we need to take care of some things um in those areas so you might notice that but all everybody’s doing great
Right they’re hanging in there we have had some really cold temperatures they’re doing well now on the inner four beds here these are all going to be our annual planting beds have some really fun plans with those before we hit that we going talk about the fountain so the Fountain of course
Right now has some really sweet purple violas in here and then we planted tulips in this one as well this is misc confection misc confection blend is um a lovely it starts out of soft yellow
And then it turns to a creamy white and then a nice rich pink we have a sweet little honeybee who is visiting the violas so that creamy white yellow with the pink coming up in these purple
Violas will be great again once those are done we’ll pull all of them out when it’s time to pull them out and we’re going to do another Mass planting here of the brand new super tunia hoopla
Vivid Orchid that is a mouthful to keep all those words in the right order so hooply vivid Orchid is that new one on the market for 2024 so you can get it as well but it is very much um a
Similar raspberry color as the jazzberry except it has a really wide white margin all the way around so we are going to do again Mass planting nothing but the hoopla Vivid Orchid will be here
At the base of the fountain and and uh fill in this area quite nicely to go with that on the flower beds here we have the curve you’ll notice that we’ve got our unique stone benches they are
Going to end up right here in the grass in the curve of the bed of the grass right here so you can sit and look at the fountain and all the other areas of the um of the garden but we are going to
Come back and in the it’ll probably be this will be late April early May because we need to wait for the temperatures to get nice and warm we’re going to have a mass planting of caladiums right
Here and that will be the same cadium in all four curves of these flower beds I have two different ones that I have options that we’re going to get two different types of caladiums that way I can
Uh see exactly which one pairs the best with the hoopla Vivid Orchid because when I was talking to my friends at Proven Winners um and I was letting them know that I wanted to do these caladiums I
Said I need one that pairs beautifully with the hoopla Vivid Orchid so I have two options that uh I will choose from and see just how the colors go together but I think that would be just beautiful
Just this nice big thick row of caladiums right here because of course caladiums are amazing low maintenance plants that do really well in our heat and humidity here in North Carolina a Zone 8A and again it’ll make a mass planting Mass impact because all four of these beds while they’re
Going to be planted similar and they’re going to blend together they are not going to be planted identically so by putting that exact same cadium in all four beds in the same spot it’ll bring uniformity and tie these beds together so what am I going to put in here well glad you asked
What I was going to put in here so in these beds of course uh we imagine you have a bench you’ve got caladiums right here and um we’ve got a lot of real estate where we can put these annuals so
In every single bed we’re going to do a different rocking Salvia there are four different colors in that rock and Salvia series and I really want to highlight those plants because they are just such wonderful performers and just go all season long they are going to be of some good height to them
Right because those Rock and salvas are beautiful so I will have them predominantly in the center of the flower bed not that I’m going to have a necessarily a straight line of them but there will
Be multiples in here we’re also going to have some of the purple fountain grass so just a beautiful nice Whimsy it’ll complement that rock and Salvia quite nicely so we’ll have that we’ll have a whole mix of different varieties of super Tunas whether it is the super tunia uh Vista bubblegum right or
Maybe it is super tunia mini Vista Indigo uh mini Vista white there are so many different possibilities and options out there that we’re going to use colus the colorblaze colus uh we have of course the new Cherry drop this year which I’ve told you before does great in containers
But it also makes a wonderful ground cover we’ll have those the double up Bonas I adore the Bonas from Proven Winners whether it is the double up or the Sure Fire bonan they both are just um you’re looking for a high performing low maintenance plant that bugs don’t like you can’t go wrong
With the Bonas uh vermillionaire vermillionaire is one that we always have in our garden because it attracts the hummingbirds so nicely so we have the salvas that the hummingbirds go nuts over and then you put in some vermillionaire here and there then they’re really going to go crazy
And then of course the patunas hummingbirds love patunas as well so lots of different fun plans but if you watched just when we planted the shrubs and The Perennial beds I’m going to use that same um thought process cess here where the beds all blend together but each one will
Be different and unique because this is a proven winers signature Garden I it is my uh my joy and my I think my responsibility to properly display these plants so that you can see how they perform
And hopefully give you some ideas and inspiration then to take to your garden and Implement them on whatever level that may be even if it’s just that you see one plant you’re like oh my gosh I love
That plant well then you add it to your garden in whatever fashion that you want that’s the idea of this garden now behind at the back of the garden we didn’t go over this a ton it was a little bit
Of a last minute kind of decision is we put an extra flower bed here in the back because we kind of wanted to tie in um the rest of the garden so we did um a a nice long kind of a narrow strip and
This is probably I don’t know what maybe three and a half I don’t even know that it’s 4 feet at the absolute most it would be 4 feet wide but down each side we did another exact planting of the
Same plant this is the Glitters and glows viburnum they are going to be really fun obviously they are deciduous but they are going to be in that 4ot range for us and that means that they’re going to give some nice height uniformity to the Garden so when you’re looking at it from um
At the entrance you’ll see this nice hedge back here now we have plenty of room between um the different plants right now we still have a tulips we got tulips Galore y’all so in here is the same misc confection so we have misc confection in the fountain we have misc confection here and
We actually have misc confection in the curves where those colle Lums are going to go so it’s going to be a great spring um so right now these beds are filled with tulips come when it’s time
Late spring when it’s time to put in um our our summer annuals then we will plant this as well with some sort of low growing annual haven’t decided exactly on what we’re going to plant here
Yet we could easily do like the sh if I wanted to do Shu fires they’ll get some height to them so maybe I don’t do sues maybe I do double UPS maybe I do um I don’t know I want to do something fun
And interesting and unique and different that maybe people don’t think about I could easily do a blue my mind vabulous love that which would pair really nicely with the Glitters and glows so there’s lots of different options and as I tell you all the time this is the perfect time to be
Dreaming and planning so that is what I will as I’m walking here through this with you I can sit here and think okay I need to figure out for sure exactly what I’m going to plant between
Glitters and glows so when it is a game time and ready to go we have a plan when we were planting the formal space of the signature Garden we came over here and developed this flower bed because
That has always been Jerry and uh my desire is to create this space as Gardens long before we were ever a nursery well I guess we were a nursery um but ever long before proven winners came to us
Before they ever came and said we want you to do a signature Garden it has always been our Dream to develop this as a type of like Botanical type garden and so this is nothing new it was just a
Great confirmation for us when Proven Winners came to us and said would you consider turning this into a signature Garden we were very honored and so um it was just it was a full circle moment for
Sure so our whole desire for many many years is to create Gardens throughout this entire area and that is what we’re going to do however is it all going to be ready and perfect you know come May
Of 2024 no not at all because that’s what Gardens are they’re constantly changing and and adapting and and moving and you’re switching things out and you’re growing that is a garden so this flower bed
Is the beginning of that in here it comes from um we have these be beautiful tulip poppers that have been here oh my gosh for ages the all these trees here are volunteers nobody planted them this the
Good Lord planted them and they are here so what we have here um in this flower bed right now is just shrubs shrubs and then we have a goo tree we will add in perennials come the springtime
Our friends at Walter’s Gardens they are always so very generous and send us gorgeous perennials that we can use in our Gardens so we will add those um various perennials in here come springtime
But in this flower bed the idea is to give yearr round interest you can see that there are a lot of evergreen shrubs in here we’ve got beautiful uh lore petalon in the back which will get nice
And big gardinas my absolute favorite gardinas we have we are North Carolina of course we have to have aelas so we’ve got Perfecto Mundo aelas in here hydrangeas roses of Sharon um hibiscus right so lots and lots of various shrubs of different heights and different textures different Bloom
Times lots of hopefully interest and inspiration for you so we’re going to take this idea of what we have and then we’re going to bring it around to the rest of the gardens we are going to be uh
Hosting the wedding of our Alyssa Alyssa is an employee of ours um just absolutely precious and she and her fiance Nick are going to be getting married end of May this is where the ceremony
Is going to take place we have a little bit of work to do but thankfully we have till the end of May so this is where the ceremony is going to take place um and so we have begun to develop and
Cleaning out like we did over there we’re going to do down here so you can see that this is kind of the natural this is what happens along a Creek in the South we have got uh volunteer we’ve got
Holly trees we have got Briar Galore dear Heavens we’ve got Briars and we have got grape vine so we have got um this grap Vine that I want to show you is huge so we’re going to come in here and
We’re going to clean out the underbrush and we’re going to plant this in in that same style that we did over there um let’s see come over here Jerry I want to show you this because do you see this
Right here right here so this that whole twine right here this whole looks like a Crooked Tree that is a grape vine so Wild Grape Vine that is coming in we’ve got some type of looks like bamboo
To me I don’t know what it is so we have got a a lot of cleaning up to do right here and maybe it is is that we come in and we clean it up and we just have to maintain it the first year because
Grape Vine’s going to come back if that is some kind of like crazy weird bamboo that has sprung up then we obviously have to get rid of that and the Briar but the idea is that this Garden is going
To continue through here because right you were with us last week when we then planted over here the um kind of the the mixed screen of the North Poles and the hydranges we’ve got limelights down
There on the bottom we’ve got incrediballs up here so all of this is going to tie in together right and then we will develop as time goes on um this whole entire Hill is still our property and this is a beautiful um opportunity to do shade Gardens because this is very very shady
Um especially the deeper you go into the the hill and the woods obviously the more shade we get so this will be a wonderful area for us to develop that Woodland garden with tons of beautiful shade um loving plants so lots of options but we know just know that there is endless opportunities
There are endless number of projects that are going to be happening uh here in the gardens and then of course we have the pond so our pond is a Springfed Pond the spring basically originates underneath the base of that holly tree and we created this Pond out of necessity to keep this
Entire Nursery from flooding my dad um years and years ago farmed this land and so he had to try to drain that spring direct that water and um over time he stopped farming this area when we got the
Property to build the nursery the entire bottom land was bog I mean you could not do anything so we created and had um the pond dug so it captures all the spring water and then there is a um a pipe
That catches any overflow um and then pipes it out so this is a clay bottom Pond and and it is all the rocks that you see are off of this property so we want to clean this up develop it and plant
Gardens all the way around it because again this is just a nice peaceful area to come and sit and we have different all sorts of different kinds of sun we’ll get like full sun we can get shade
We can get part sun you name it there are lots of options uh for Gardens and very diverse planting in here we have areas of signature Garden that are extreme hot hot sun more shaded areas there’s a little bit of everything for every Garden here at Creekside nursery and then lastly we’re going
To come over here um share with you some uh plans that we have over here is that on this portion of of the nursery we have of the property we have where kind of where the benches are this is is
Another area that uh can stay historically damp because there is a yet another spring that is popping up from here and this is going to be a beautiful area where we’re going to develop more of that Wetland Garden so I’m going put like summerific hibiscus in here um bottle rocket all
Sorts of different of those plants that love The Damp conditions uh button bushes and um scentlandia all sorts of great things right that thrive in with damp feet so this is going to be a great little fun area that we have to develop um in the coming months and years as always so
We’ve got uh as always lots of work to do but it’s very fun and it’s very exciting if you’re in the area we would love for you to come by of course the nursery is going is set to reopen uh
Saturday February the 17th we’ve already got food trucks lined up we’re going to have a whole whole great spring ahead of us but if you’re in the area beginning February 17th and Beyond we would love
For you to stop by of course you can just come and walk the gardens and get lots of great inspiration all of the plants will have identification on them people have asked about that so when you’re
Walking through the gardens you will know exactly what dayy that is what baptisia that is um and so there will be no question as to what it is it will be clearly marked for you so that you can see it
And if you enjoy it and you like it and you want to add it to your garden of course we’d love to help you take care of that as well um but yeah it’s an exciting time it’s a very wet time here
In the South we always have very historically wet Winters and so uh to have that 7 inches of rain while it was uh slightly unusual it was also not like crazy I mean this is just kind of what we’re
Used to uh we are in mud season here in North Carolina as always we hope you have found this fun informative and inspirational y’all have a great day we’ll see you in the next video bye friends

Looks like so much fun! Thank you VERY much for planning on tagging everything, a local nursery doesn't even tag their plants for sale and I find it very frustrating.
Can’t wait to see your beds come Spring Time!!!
Love your necklace, Xmas gift?
Oh, Jenny 🎉! I can envision your plans now! Everything will be beautiful ❤ and I can't wait to see it all develop!
Hey friend! I'm working on my pre-order! Will you be adding Surefire White Begonias to your website?
This Spring is going to be absolutely amazing at ‘Creekside’, the Signature Garden and the surrounding areas sound so beautiful! I can’t wait, thanks Jenny for Jerry for sharing your vision with us ❤🌺
Jenny its going to be beautiful.. Very excited to come see it in the spring and summer.
How did you guys meet? ❤ Did you live in this land after you got married ?❤ What was you job before gardening?❤ When did you start gardening with business you have?❤
Can you put tuberous begonias in the full sun ?🌲💚🙃
This journey is going to be a fun one !!! 🌲💚🙃
Save the grapevine for arrangements!
Looking forward to the fixing of the pond! Love that.
Jenny how do you keep the deer from eating your signiture garden?
Looking beautiful and going to be spectacular when in bloom.
Why not use both caladium choices and alternate them? It will give your guests and us the opportunity to see how they perform and compliment the area.
I absolutely love both of yours passion and excitement for this signature garden. It’s truly inspiring and at this time of year when it’s very hard to see through the winter these updates give me drive to think of my own garden.
One day I fully plan on coming to visit from the uk to see it in full bloom.
Thank you creekside for all your hard work xx
What is the name of the sod? It is beautiful and I think you said it stayed green throughout the winter.
I have a mostly woodland garden with many areas of asymmetry. I will often do what you are doing in the formal garden, since I don’t want it to look unruly. I use the same plant across the front of a bed as a nod to true hedges. I use boxwood accents, as well. I’m very interested in how you walk that line at Creekside. The mass planted annuals will be striking.
With today's video I just realized how beautiful the signature garden is and can only imagine what it will look like this summer !!
I love your plans. Your nursery is going to be one of a kind. Can't wait to visit in the Spring.
I look forward to seeing the plants in place. That should be easier planting with the hauled-in soil.
By the pond, are you considering something less formal as in what Aaron and Laura did with their recent pond addition? You have so much wilderness around, but not where there's a spot to sit and reflect.
I'm getting antsy to dig in some dirt. 😃
The signature garden is going to be dazzling! I am looking forward to blooming season!
OMGOSH this is going to be awesome! The colors alone will be spectacular!
I’m absolutely aching for spring to get here to see the gorgeous Signature Gardens in all their beautiful glory ❣️🌸🌺🌷🍃💐🍃🍃
So thrilled that Proven Winners singled out my favorite YouTube gardening folks at Creekside to create a Signature Garden in my "new" zone, 8a!! Congratulations, and wow, what a tremendous honor. They only picked 10 locations according to their website!
Will the new garden beds from the ceremony site to the pond be open to the public?
I emphasis with you, we got 12 inches in 48 hrs 😱😱😱🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺cheers Bronwyn
Lots of fun and work ahead !! I love watching you !!!!❤❤❤❤
When you started working on the berm I couldn’t wait to see it finished to see how you planted it up. And now with the signature garden, it’s the same. Can’t wait. When you mentioned the supertunia jazzberry, i thought omg. I tried them last summer and boy did they perform. Love you guys. I’m definitely gonna have them again this year. Along with Bordeaux and bubblegum. I’ve learned so much from you and Laura from garden answer. Have Aaron and Laura been to your place yet?
Hi Jenny and Jerry, My PW Supertunia Vista Jazzberries grew to 90 inches wide!!!! Only one row !!! Wish I could send a pnoto!!! My sidewalk running from the driveway up to my porch is about 40 inches. AND the flower bed borders my sidewalk. The Jazzberries overwhelmed half way across the sidewalk and at least 10 inches out into the grass!!! I took photos once a week from planting in May until November. I still had the green part ot the plant until December!!!. They are a major attraction!!! Let me know if there is a way to send some photos. You might need TWO rows!!! Ha!! Watch every video!! Your plans are fantastic!!! CAN'T WAIT!!
Sorry, forgot to say in Bowie, MD close to Annapolis, M.D. Toni Miller
Creekside is on my bucket this spring can’t wait to see all the planting areas.
I can’t wait to see the mass planting of caladiums!! 😍
You two are doing amazing things in your garden. Really looking forward to spring and all the color!
You r going to be working very hard but beautiful , good luck 🙏🏻❤️❤️
7:27 Hi, Jenny 👋🏼 totally off garden topic question for you 🙋🏼♀️ I love your boots! 😍Where did you get them and, what is that color? It appears to be a shade of green? Love your channel!
I cant wait to see what the new garden layout looks like come spring !
I just can’t believe you don’t have deer damage with all those woods around you.
What an ambitious project! This spring will be amazing show.
I would love to see bird friendly plants by the pond, some rocks just barely below the surface to create shallow bathing spots some water plants. Oooooo! You reopen on my birthday!!!! ☺️
Can't wait to see it all come together. It's gonna be beautiful.
Jenny, I think those two spiral evergreens in the background in this video would look great flanking the entrance to your formal garden…
I've never had hummingbirds or bees show any interest is petunias.
It’s going to be beautiful!!!
I really appreciate this video. Thank you 🙏 I have a ton of dry shade and I got some really great ideas. Definitely going to plant some more hellebore! 🌱
It is beautiful
Oh man that is going to be awesome 👏🏼 I look forward to seeing that all come together for you. Love the way you showed the plants in the video. ❤🙏🏻🌷
Random question, where is your cardigan from / what brand is it. I have been looking for one exactly like that, but haven’t been able to find one 😊
Will there be any filtration or pumps involved with the pond? Will hoselink provide landscape lighting for the signature garden? ❤
This is going to be beautiful..love it.
It's going to be lovely. Will be visiting in the near future.
