Bummer. You could have probably just re rooted the pere but good luck!

I agree with the other guy root the pere and let the scion get a bit larger, that way when you degraft it it will take much less time to root and get going on its own feet

When it’s time to degraft I often will leave an inch or two of pere on the end and just bury that up to the scion. Eventually the scion will root on its own but until then I know the pere will

Drop the Pere in water for a week and you’ll have roots.
