State videos of residential areas on social media showed cars Swept Away in the parking lots a five Furlong Road had caved in kuruka murugan Temple was submerged in Theon El town after the rains in the western guts the taram government hospital was Marooned commuters walked through a flooded Punam Mali High Road the Cyclone also stranded several flights to reporting and arriving from chenai the runway at Chennai airport was flooded and the railway tracks in the city were submerged both these visuals were a reminder of the scenes in 2018 when the floods submerged the Kerala
Airport and last year when FL flash floods created Havoc at the hlong railway Junction in Assam the current flooding in chenai was another addition to the list of India’s deadly floods in 2023 many cities and regions in India witnessed severe flooding and water logging in
2023 be it the hilly areas in the north Himachal Pradesh and utraan or the tech city of Bengaluru or the northeast states of Asam and sikim many cities in Gujarat were battered by Relentless downpour from water entering a police station in ryad in Maharashtra to a hospital in rishikesh getting Flooded even the capital of India New Delhi wasn’t spared the floods caused extensive damage to lacks of houses while throwing public life completely out of gear so why are Indian cities getting flooded year after year is this solely due to sporadic heavy rains or does it indicate a
Failure of urban planning let us find out as the heavy rain and strong winds continue to lash Tamil nadu’s Capital Chennai and its neighborhoods with several parts of the city submerged authorities shut down schools and offices stopped flights and evacuated people from flooded Areas some parts of this area is uh low laying the water has entered into the houses so they are finding it very difficult uh so they are taking necessary steps to prevent water from entering into their house uh like uh blocking with cement bags like that aftering an entire season’s rainfall in
A span of 48 Hours Chennai city has literally been brought to its knees Havoc has been wed completely across Chennai City irrespective of which part of the city it is by Cyclone mcj right now in Chennai the major challenge is water logging in major areas you can see
That several areas have hip deep water or Knee Deep Water so it’s hard for vehicles to play during these area through these routs we also have to remember the fact that public life is completely being brought to a halt at least nine people including a child were killed in the rain related
Incidents in Southern India till the 5th of December and 9,000 people were evacuated some of these residents in Chennai were taken in boats as the waters submerged their houses and buildings almost uh first floor of our house is until first floor of house is drenched actually and
Also there are lots of and lots of snakes uh and there are more childrens and uh kids who are struggling over there people need to be uh like the government need to take a uh necessary actions yeah we have rescued around 20 people now is there still people there
Yes people are calling us and uh district administra has given us the numbers and we are calling them and we have a local guide with us and we are continuously asking the floods not just impacted the human lives a crocodile was spotted crossing a Road near the state
Capital a video of the incident shows a two-wheeler driver stopping his vehicle after spotting the crocodile the roads of chenai city were massively water logged after the Heavy Rain Chennai has seen similar natural disasters in the past so the extreme rainfall occurred from 3rd December night till 4th
December evening and in this period in like 36 hours Chennai got more than 40 cm rainfall that is more than 400 mm rainfall and as per IMD figures Chennai City received in 48 hours 468 mm rainfall so unofficially this is most likely the highest amount of 48 Hours
Rainfall which Chennai has ever received since the uh record uh keeping began the city is witnessing a repeat of the scenes that were witnessed 7 years ago seven people were killed and thousands had to be Evac evacuated as Cyclone VA lashed Chennai in December 2016 schools and businesses were shut
Airport services were suspended as the Cyclone made landfall with heavy rain and Winds of up to 140 kmph several incidents of wall and house collapses were reported across the city over 16,000 people were evacuated from low-lying areas in Tamil Nadu and Andra Pradesh Cyclone varda brought to Stark notice the vulnerabilities of
Chenai the floods in turn were a repeat of the 2015 floods in the first week of December 2015 heavy rainfall in chenai triggered unprecedented flooding thousands were left homeless and left to the mercy of the weather citizens banded together to rescue others stranded in their homes as the water levels
Rose the 2015 floods destroyed thousands of lives and caused Untold destruction to properties so what did we learn from the 2015 floods and 2016 Cyclone vard did the lessons lead to PO that have future proofed cities and made them climate resilient due to more concrete areas in
The city the water is not able to penetrate in the ground it only goes through the drains and the drains are designed with a with a like five to six decades old uh you can say infrastructure of the old technology that need to be redesigned considering the increase in the extreme rainfall and
The increase in the population also the major problem why chenai is flooded because it also coincides with the high tide Whenever there is a high tide and because the high tide and storm sge it pushes the ocean water inland so as a result the drains which should carry the
City water towards ocean they are not able to carry the water towards ocean earlier this year when the summer monsoons hit India similar scenes of flooding played out in several other parts of the country Just last month in November many areas of bangaluru were inundated leaving commuters stranded in traffic snarls as heavy rain pounded the city bangaluru experienced traffic bottlenecks power outages and flooded houses all these were a result of additional rain during an unusually heavy monsoon season once known as the city of lakes
Bengaluru’s intense urbanization drive has eliminated wetlands and flood Plaines leading to floodway obstruction year after year Bengaluru is becoming susceptible to flooding uh one of the key problem with all the cities is the the drainage is now outdated we require more modern drainage system we should consider the
Amount of water with which is inflow and the outflow Ratio in the month of June this year the powerful Cyclone biper Joy Unleashed heavy rains and winds on the coast of Western Gujarat State powerful winds torrential rains and flash floods wed Havoc along the coastal regions the impact of cyclone biper jooy was immediate and severe the fierce gusts caused
Significant damage in gujarat’s Mor District over 300 electric poles were uprooted triggering power outages in over 45 Villages over 175,000 people were affected because of the Cyclone I cannot get passengers and the food and vegetable prices have SED and the common mes have to face the brunt of
It we are gathering groceries as the shops are going to close due to the Cyclone we are filled with fear and hope that it will not reach our location and instad move elsewhere families stayed in patchy shops in the coastal towns of mvi as Cyclone Bard Joy made land landfall
After pounding the Indian Coastline many like fruit seller lakman ramji had to move his family to an unfinished block of concrete Shop houses near the town’s center after the storm destroyed their Mud House the situation is very intense we have been here since 300 p.m. yesterday we haven’t eaten anything and the roof
Of our home has been destroyed by The Rains and that is the reason why we are staying here we don’t know if the situation will improve or not the hotel glass is shattering and we are afraid that it might fall on us the situation is very bad out there it’s raining a lot
We don’t know what to Do also in July many areas in Surat and other parts of South Gujarat remained heavily water logged people wait ed through kneee water while two wheeler Riders had water seeping into their vehicles engines there were huge traffic jams at different Junctions in the city in September several Villages
Across the state of Gujarat were cut off after flooding in low-lying areas as the narmada and other rivers were in Spate around 12,600 people were taken to safety and shifted to shelter homes while 822 stranded citizens were rescued from Seven districts the incessant downpour affected normal life in several districts of
Gujarat in July this year intense Monsoon rains brought normal life to a standstill in several parts of Eastern and Central rajastan flooding out roads rail tracks and low-lying residential areas rainwater also entered the state’s largest government sector Hospital in Jaipur saai Man Singh Hospital several Wards of the hospital were flooded including the radiotherapy Wing in the basement of the Hospital video footage showed patients lying on stretchers in the corridors of the poorly lit Hospital while care assistants deplored the lack of beds and infrastructure Oh reports said a 7-year-old boy was Swept Away in the gushing Waters of an overflowing drain at the state capital of Jaipur where several areas were water logged Even in Northeast India people were affected by severe floods after heavy rains battered the Region turning roads into rivers and submerging Villages an unusual Deluge ahead of the annual monsoon in the northeastern state of Assam left at least eight people dead and displaced more than 400,000 in May this year in July flash floods in Assam killed at least eight people and displaced more than
115,000 water from the swollen brahmaputra River engulfed nearly 450 villages in 17 districts in the hilly state state of Northeastern India inundating large swats of wildlife sanctuaries as well floods and landslides are common in Assam due to seasonal Monsoon showers every Year a mountainous State IM maal Pradesh faced widespread destruction due to Heavy Rain Fall more than 1,000 roads were closed as electricity and power infrastructure were damaged since the onset of the monsoon in Himachal Pradesh many people lost their lives and many went missing in rain related incidents Manali was one of the worst affected in the Region this is what a highway in Manali looked like before the rains but things changed in July when flash floods washed away roads and several Bridges and cut off Villages experts believe that rampant ill-conceived construction over the years have made the Hill State more vulnerable to natural disasters like the flash floods and Cloud bursts another mountainous region uand was battered by heavy rainfall in the monsoon
Season several people including patients were seen waiting through water at the all India Institute of Medical Sciences in rishikes visuals also showed the entire Hospital premises flooded as people made their way out In the aftermath of heavy rainfall several rivers in North India reached dangerous levels the malan river in kotara urand displayed its wrath the overflowing river washed away a bridge built over it a video from kotara showed the malan river in Spate the force of the flowing water collapsed a section of the concrete
Bridge that links two Districts parts of Maharashtra have also experienced heavy showers police station in the ryad district was flooded police Personnel had to Wade through knee water the Indian meteorological Department issued an orange alert for pgar and other parts of Maharashtra this isn’t the first time ports of the state were swamped with flood
Waters India’s commercial capital in the western state of Maharashtra with a population of some 22 million is inundated every year with heavy rains Suburban Railways Road Transport air traffic and Normal public life are disrupted every single time drowning of the city of Mumbai that now seems like an annual Affair raise
The same question every time why is Mumbai never prepared for the seasonal floods it is the question unfortunately for most Indian cities that face the Deluge year after year meanwhile residents in India’s chenai waited through knee flood water after Cyclone mang barreled into the southern coast bringing in heavy rain
And winds that uprooted trees and damaged roads 13 people report reportedly died in the flooding triggered by the torrential rains that preceded the Cyclone which made landfall in Andra Pradesh State on the 5th of December residents were seen Distributing water on boats to those stranded in their homes as roads were
Flooded and vehicles submerged experts and urban planners have identified unchecked development and climate change as the main triggers of flooding in urban cities of India which begs the question when will Indian cities be climate resilient and better equipped to tackle the extreme patterns of rainfall and floods

Tamil nadu is not the part of India unless it will ruled by BJP. We know what governer is doing. Stalling the work. I have been noticing there is hardly any coverage of floods in the state. Where is the big mouth Annamalai hiding now.

When the police are locked in there with the criminal gangs males and prisoners released because of the floods, it will be a really tough time, I do hope my wives can get the females out of there in safety.
Floods and landslides happen in North India also and all over the world due to global warming. Don't politicize every disaster.
7:11 it's not failure of urban planning when there is no urban planning in the first place.
This was expected with global warming.
India is one of the largest burner of coal next to China. Did it really think it could pollute and wreck the rest of the world and get away unscathed?

Government officials who signed on buildings over lakes should be accountable and should be in jail. Showing floods everyyear and how people are coping is non sense
Also littering should be strictly punishable
இரு சக்கர வாகன விற்பனை கட்டுபாடு வேண்டும். தேவை இல்லாத காற்று மாசுபாடு வெப்பமயமாதல். இவற்றால் புயல் உருவாகி கொண்டிருக்கிறது
😳😳😳😳 wow!😭😭😭
Flood Allah ka Sabse bada aajab h
Insano Ko julm se baj aana chahiye

If we don’t foresee and prepare to handle the global warming, will face major disasters in coming decades, these cyclones are just a symptom of what comes next with a massive disaster..😢
Dosa province
God's punishment all these are happen in Indian state evry year but we don't understand this
We ourselves cry for development. And when such disasters happen we blame the development. It's a vicious circle lol.

What is the situation today of chennai city?
God is great !!!oh lala modi
allahu akbaaaar
We destroyed the beauty of nature and nature has its own turn
Govt in power accepts bribe for sanctioning illegal construction projects, allocate money for social welfare which never sees light as most of the money is pocketed.. use the above bribes and ill gotten wealth to re-invest in real estate and jack up property prices and pay cash for votes and cycle continues. At the end politicians get wealthier, the working class becomes poorer and suffer a lot
It's great to see how much English has improved in Tamil Nadu. Accent is very decent now. Shame about Gujarat though.
Because many parts of chennai city are built on lakes which is completely disappear or shrieked . Check old maps of chennai u will know
Chennai Sponge City 🏞️ is a Good Idea
We should work Faster on it
I have visited Chennai Airport on the way to Vellore, CMC Hospital.
People are so friendly there.
Please GOD Help Chennai, India.
My prayers for Chennai, India from Dhaka, Bangladesh.
If Tamil Nadu's union with India makes any sense ,India should embark on a major infrastructure and financial assistance to turn around this annual year in year scourge. This is a disaster of national scale. Not just Tamil Nadu. If India don't respond with a major response this speaks volumes what the union in India means . Tamil Nadu needs more than bandaid response. Otherwise is just a cosmetic ritual
Respect the nature and they will respect u-The fact is the money cant do anything here- only to take immediate steps for avoiding the future mass nature disasters is
keep control on motor transport usage, avoid polluting the air and surroundings, avoid building a lot of building around,-all this can trigger out the underwater temperature (south pole glaciers starts melting)-Global warming is at a peak dangerous thing !
😅😊pppppppppppp 1:30 1:31 1:32😊
This is karma baby
Chennai needs a drainage system similar to the current Newyork city.. but No indian metro has such kind of drainage system… Literally none…
Illiteracy , worst politics , unhygienic practice & garbage city is chennai.
Breed and build incessantly and call it development. We reap what we sow.
Development at the cost of nature
I think this happening because certain alignments in November strongly activate the Earth on November 3, November 11, November 13 and especially November 17-18. Then Mars was directly behind the Sun for 1.5 days. A certain dark energy then activates the Earth, the Sun and Mars.
The straighter the alignment, the longer the dark energy particles meet each other in the opposite sphere. Pushing through each other, they strongly interact with each other and activate each other. The energy in them is spread over a larger area, and thus the probability of encountering the next dark energy particle pushing against you increases, etc.
The sun was already very active after that. Likewise the Earth. On Mars, the delay is a bit longer. I'm also waiting on Mars for the entire Mars Global Dust Storm that will start any day now. Let's follow the situation.

Man made disasters. …more carbon footprint more cevere cyclones…
Tamil nadu was the most corrupt state in india, and the party who ruled now only looking for the commission from corporate companies doesn't care about the citizens and formers. Also, playing games with the central government to not even single projects such as AIIMS hospitals come to tamil nadu. TN is one of the richest states in india because of politicians and corporate monopoly, not by the citizens of tamil people. Here is the GDP per capita of tamil nadu falling every year against the inflation. That may be considered only to be former and middle-class people. These people are only affected by cyclones or flooding. Rich and politicians are not affected. If it needs to change the facts about flooding, we need to learn some lessons from Japan. They also face a lot of natural disaster every year. But they survived. We are drying here. What to do, we can't do anything. All under the hands of government policy and leadership. Develop the infrastructure that is needed now. Then, after we can chassis the capital from outside barriers. Love india, love our nation. We hope change will happen. Jai hind 😢❤.
