In this video, we revisit Saronne’s beautiful permaculture-inspired kitchen garden. It is amazing to see just how healthy and thriving this space is, and I always enjoy my visit there, so I just had to film an update!

  1. I would love to see a video on a small garden consisting of wooden planter boxes and containers (which is what my garden in Cape Town attached to my flat consists of, along with numerous bougainvilleas, fruit trees and other flowers😮).

  2. Great update, loved it. My winter time (Cool season 30 degrees C) is my growing season for many vegetables. Unfortunately October/November has been unseasonably hot and I lost most of my seedlings, fortunately I managed to make a 2nd sowing, which are doing well 🙂

  3. I"m in the US and it always amazes me when people wonder where the bees and butterflies are when they are surrounded by grass, I have no use for grass and its taken me over 20 years to get my husband to just not hate my gardens everywhere. I do need to just add more flowers as well. I can't seem to get hollyhocks to grow but marshmallow loves my gardens. Any tips on hollyhocks?

  4. Perfect video to watch first thing in the morning. Gives me lots of hope for this new garden location I'm in my second season of working on.

Thankfully since I'm in the southern United States barely had a winter at all. It was supposed to snow today actually, but it's just rain.

  5. You are lovely and very fun to listen to. Your garden is wonderful I look forward to checking out sow grow and cook

  6. I was surprised when I added flowers to my vegetable garden at how much activity bit brought in….and I feel like everything is better pollinated

  7. As a former commercial beekeeper, I still keep a lot of flowering plants, including trees and shrubs. Many of them are selected not only for the pollinators, but for being a host plant for butterflies. Adjacent to vegetable garden area is a 30'x40' butterfly garden, and one posts between them are numerous native bee houses to attract the native bee population.

  8. I would like having something like this as i'm living in Kent UK, but I have too many foxes inside my garden unfortunately, I can only probably create a giant enclosure with pallets, including a roof, as these seams climb very easily fences ad sheds, in fact couple of these animals sleeps on my shed roof all the time 🙂

  9. Charming.

We have flowers in all our gardens, too.
I also strew seeds in other places as the last task while putting the gardens to bed for the winter. It's fun to see what will come up.

  10. I love volunteers, although sometimes they can get overwhelming and need to be thinned. You just never know what is going to pop up anywhere in the yard or garden with compost and birds spreading seeds in addition to them just dropping or catching a ride on a breeze. Such a lovely garden and so productive.

  11. This is really inspiring – I live in South Wales and am brand new to gardening, hoping to start in 2024 having started composting this year.

  12. I found an old mangel grater in an old barn. Mangel is what they call sugar beets in Canada at least. I was told you had to grate the beets for the livestock to be able to easily digest the beets. It had a big hand crank and rotating teeth inside.

  13. I love these tours of other people's gardens Huw! Great to see Saronne featured again. She has created a paradise. I hope these videos become a regular feature once more. We can all learn something from seeing how others develop their growing space.

  14. I am amazed how you can have squash and poppies at the same time. Our summers are so hot, the poppies are long gone by the time squash is just starting. I love the flowers as well. Makes the soul happy 🥰

  15. Just lovely! A perfect way to start the day. I always have flowers among my veggies, but I’m trying to sneak in more.

  16. Looks amazing Sarone so glad Huw is putting on his channel. I grow loads of flowers among my veg. Happy New Year and 2024 growing season, Ali 🇨🇦

  17. So much growing, it's beautiful but a bit much for a family. Do you sell at a market? I used to grow a lot but have scaled it way back. Saves time and resources so to speak.
