Gardening tips on how to attract beautiful bees to the garden to pollinate all the vegetable plants that need pollinating. These Gardening tips are from Mo, your urban, amateur gardener, from Houston, Texas, U.S.A. Happy gardening.
Goring pretty well Mo thanks! Check out my latest video when you have time. I am trying to grow a few things. Take care! Can't wait to see what you have in your fall garden.
Do a little research online. Google "Planting schedules" & that will get you started. Type in your zip code & it will give your zone and a listing . I like The Vegetable Garden Planting Schedules. I often plant before scedule says, then plant more seeds every few weeks. I like to experiment. Tomatoes are best started indoors 8 weeks ahead of planting outside. Bean seeds soak overnight for a head start. Hope that helps. -Peace,Mo
I know that it has been a long time since you have posted this video, I am in total agreement with you. The African Basil is amazing for feeding the bees. I know that I need to trim mine back, but, there are soo many bees on it that I do not want to deter them from entering into my green house, which is where I have my African Basil.
Mo, you might also want to look into a newer variety of basil called "Wild Magic." It is like African Blue basil on steroids! The leaves on wild magic are a purplish red and the flowers a slightly larger than African Blue basil and they are slightly more pink in color. The flowers and leaves taste a tad fruity and the bees love it about equally as much as African Blue. Plus Wild Magic is hardy cold wise up to almost zone 3. So I imagine in due time it will be more popular than African Blue. 🙂
Thank you for this video. We have to keep in mind when growing basil and seeing all the videos about trimming, trimming, trimming! Yes I always grow about 8-10 of these plants and and don't cut or trim to SHARE with the bees who so love the flowers !!!!
Mo, I live in So Ca, so I can I still propagate late summer into early fall with clippings from my ABB? I saw a video of someone who put a clipping in water, and they said in less than a week, the roots are out and ready to plant.

Will try to add more varieties of basil next year for sure. Thanks Mo. Beautiful video.
That's amazing. I love that African Blue basil. I wonder if it would grow into a tree in the right climate. -Peace, Mo
