I challenged CaliKim to a ‘Grow Down’ and she accepted. This series will show you how to get an early start growing large beefsteak tomatoes from start to finish. Today I go over my fertilizing recipe and soil preparation. The seeds get planted and I use a cloche. And (I invite you to join), Calikim and I are going head to head come August 1st. The largest beefsteak wins… I need some Northern allies!

* You do not need to use the same exact fertilizer as I do. The principle for 1/3 in the bottom, 1/3 on top and 1/3 for side dressing is what is important.
