Planting mine today in a lovely autumn Sunday in Melbourne Australia. Thank you Ben. Always enjoy your videos.
Excellent video, but I'm just happy to find anyone else who uses the word, "amongst." Also, I wonder if one could put garlic cloves in the fridge pre-Spring – Zone 5, for several weeks, and plant out? No harm trying. I just wish I had planted more garlic in the fall. Grocery store garlic, but it has beautiful, strong leaves. Whether it makes bulbs or not, remains to be seen. That's "gardening."
Well today I found that the supermarket garlic bulbs that I wipped off a shelf and threw into a pot ,planted in spring 2020 ( before I did any research on growing garlic) and forgotten about have survived even when overtaken by weeds. Going to be intresting tasting them, so ill start looking after them. Great video.
Excellent
I planted the garlic cloves as a whole last summer, I wasn’t aware to break down the clove. They are growing pretty well but I’m not sure if it’s too late to separate them or let them be till I harvest them. Any suggestions?
Garlic ❤️❤️❤️
If you chose to do a fast plant of garlic…break your bulb into individual cloves…DO NOT PEEL CLOVES…put cloves in containers…close containers…put your container in your refrigerator…check every three days…they usually sprout withing 11 days…(or faster)…plant!
Haven’t planted any garlic yet but I just acquired an entire bag of bulbs from my church food pantry that already seem to be growing on their own! I did hear you say in this video not to plant the store bought kind due to possible diseases or not suitable for your area. I might try it anyway. I researched the garlic and it says it is from Spice World out of Orlando Florida. It is not organic but does say Not genetically modified. I might try it anyway. I am in NY. Love your videos as well as garlic. Everyone that can not get enough of garlic should look for a recipe called Toum. It is a whipped garlic, comes out like Mayo! Garlic cloves, salt, lemon and oil! It reminds me of a horseradish sauce.
I wouldn’t be surprised if you were a VA for narration.
Nice. What was that planner you had on screen @1:50 ? Have you a link to it? Cheers
I like your veg video as they are shorter but to the point
Great vid as always this year 2022 I used coffee grounds I get for free.
I sprinkle around the garlic it's a great feed plus helps to keeps slugs and snails at bay
Infact only today 3 june 2022 I lifted the first of .y garlic out of two beds and will leave on top of the beds for a few days and air dry on racks. All the best
Just harvested my first garlic which I planted last October 🤗 some are small but a fair amount of cloves on each one , they are hung up in my garage drying so 🤞🏻 thanks for all the tips, Anna 🏴

No fertilization instruction?
My garlic is about to flower – should I let it?
I love scapes!! I’d grow garlic just for these! Yum!
Since adding garlic to my grow I've had absolutely no vampires in the garden whatsoever.
Wow so easy! With all the shop brought garlic coming from China it makes you think we don't have the right climate to grow it here, why is all the shop brought garlic from China? I'm definitely growing my own from now on thank you 😊🙌
Good video, I'm going to try planting this fall. Actually tomorrow
Fantastic info thank you. I always plant in autumn but its now spring in Australia and I have a few garlic heads which are sprouting. Can I plant them now (mid spring temp min 10-max 20C) and leave them to grow all through summer and then leave over winter and harvest next year? I'm thinking I will grow them near my carrots 🙂 Thanks again J
ou have super garden! I like it. But I do it so https://youtu.be/yXl5dAB5YJo
I believe garlic is on of the most easiest vegetable to grow.
Very nice Thanks !
Thank you
Excellent video
Hello i have recently bought some farm land red dirt and im planning on planting around 15 acres any tips do i have to fertilize or herbicide the plants or just plant water and harvest
Hi Ben! I have a question :
I planted garlic last fall and it is now thriving at about 10” tall and fattening stalks (end of April). I may be having a backyard renovation whereby I will lose my garlic patch. 😢 Can I dig them up and hope to replant them into pots or will this be a futile exercise at this point in the growing season?
Please advise. Thanks!
Thank you for the knowledge amigo
I understand from some sources that you can trim garlic leaves to help develop bigger bulbs – true or false or needed ? Great video , much thanks for the practical and clear direction . My first year to plant an watch it grow 🙂
Thanks for your instructions and good video. Tulsa, Oklahoma USA
Love ❤️ these educational and friendly videos
Thanks
Hi Ben, do you have a recommended online seller of garlic cloves for planting in the UK, South East? Many thanks in advance.
Do squirrels eat them? I have trouble growing things because I suck at it and, oh yeah, and the squirrels and bunnies eat them. Rabbits are easy to defeat by raising things high enough, but squirrels cannot be defeated. Everyone knows that.
As a semi-retired chef I now can have garlic year round. Thanks Mate. Keep the videos coming!
Bonjour
What s the difference outcome from:
Planting the cloves now[ end sept uk]
And mid oct
Or end oct
Even nov?
Do we have to be careful that winter [ice/frost] does not catch on too much growth, or
Is it , in fact , better to have loads of garlic growth by tge time there s a frost?what s the science behind such a vague length of time, during which our garlic cloves[depending on when exactly they were down in autumn] might make it ,or not ,through the winter?
[i m in uk , wales]
You missed a trick by not saying "but if you feel that's a risk you are willing to take, you can proceed with that" in reference to just regular garlic from the supermarket.
